  1. I saw the same thing with conservatives as the sheep. It's a funny joke for both sides.
  2. I take issue with the premise that he has no idea where our policy should be taking us...no idea whether or not this "battle in the war on terror" will make us safer in the end. If he is telling the truth, he has no forward vision?...no opinion on the end goal? I don't believe that. I believe he knows that our efforts in Iraq are not making us safer from terrorists. He is merely following cheney's orders
  3. Thompson told reporters in Iowa that bin Laden is "more symbolism than anything else" and said his presence in the "mountains of Pakistan or Afghanistan is not as important as there are probably al-Qaida operatives inside the United States of America." After some criticism, Thompson adopted a tougher line, saying bin Laden "ought to be caught and killed." Thompson then said he wasn't suggesting that bin Laden's death would happen immediately after his capture. "No, no, no, we've got due process to go through" depending on the circumstances, he said. "I'm not suggesting those things happen simultaneously." Ok...common sense and the American way says that bin laden ought to have due process...right? Howard Dean suggested this very thing in 2003 and got raked over the coals by right wingers for saying such blasphemy. Now that Thompson, aka RRR (Ronald Reagan Reincarnated) says it, no one on the right is doing any raking. I can't believe I am to the right of Thompson on this one. Symbolism??? Good Grief!!!
  4. General Petraeus made what I think is an amazing admission, conceding "I don't know" if the course of action recommended in Iraq makes America safer: WARNER: I hope in the recesses of your heart that you know that strategy will continue the casualties, stress on our forces, stress on military families, stress on all Americans. Are you able to say at this time, if we continue what you have laid before the Congress, this strategy, that if you continue, you are making America safer? PETRAEUS: Sir, I believe that this is indeed the best course of action to achieve our objections in Iraq. WARNER: Does that make America safer? PETRAEUS: Sir, I don't know actually. I have not sat down and sorted out in my own mind. What I have focused on and been riveted on is how to accomplish the mission of the Multinational Force in Iraq. And Petraeus wants to keep 160,000 troops in Iraq till next summer, then take that number down by only 30,000 after that.
  5. Our war policy from here will be based on an assessment from the man that dreamed up the strategery for this latest surge. Let's see...lots the other generals (who later recanted when they retired) said before Congress that the war effort was going well. Wonder what Petraeus will write in his memoirs in a few years. Will Gen. Petraeus be critical of his own plan??? absolutely not. Is the Petraeus assessment just what the cheney/bush war machine want to hear? absolutely. I'm more likely to believe the GAO report, it's just less biased.
  6. I am leaving the two of you alone in the room together...maybe you "guys" can talk together in a friendly way with each other. I am uncomfortable with how aroused you two are with this subject. I'll see you on other threads, dear ones. Have fun together!
  7. You were certainly more interested in talking to me in a friendly way when you thought I was a man. No - you may not call me.
  8. You mean when I replied to your unsolicited, unwelcome, unfriendly email????
  9. In your vivid imagination, there, tex! I would never be interested in someone like you!!
  10. I certainly don't need any advice from you, dear tex. My last name isn't a national secret, but it isn't for public consumption on an anonymous board. The fact that my picture is up doesn't mean that I want my last name posted on this board. I never gave you that email address...it is a new one since you and I used to talk like friends. You have a nasty mind and a nasty disposition.
  11. Mr. Van Deave??? Who is that??? Maybe your source of information is faulty! Maybe you are making assumptions from info that your source is feeding you that isn't true???
  12. I hope you don't charge much for your services, cause you ain't such a competent doctor. He isn't gone...he won't go...so you have a difficult, near impossible task ahead of you, dear dandy. Good luck!!
  13. I have no responsibility to you to tell you anything. You are the last person I would ever talk to about my private life now. You have sent me unsolicited emails to my home email address (which someone else gave to you without my permission), given my full name to others here on this board (who have since posted it on this very thread)...and you think all that is justified because of what you believe you know about me. You have no rights to know about me. I will never give you the satisfaction of knowledge.
  14. You don't play by any rules...or maybe I just missed the rules you wrote for this board. Please post them so I can play by them, too. I am no victim and I'm not asking for your sympathy. Each person that posts or reads here will decide for themselves whether I look worse or not. Maybe some don't feel the way you do, maybe some have warmer hearts than you...I don't know. I have been too busy lately to worry about the drivel you've been posting. I had a moment to read through this thread tonight and I wanted to respond. Your faux concern for my family is as shallow as a puddle after a small shower. Please stop trying to convince anyone that you are posting out of concern for anyone's family. It is hollow...just like you.
  15. Personally, I don't care if Craig gets his position back. It's ok with me if he does...especially during the election cycle.
  16. No, tex, posting last doesn't mean you win. It's the content of the post that determines that - and you've demonstrated that you have no content - I mean, you posted that I cared more about my dead dog than my children for pete's sake.....you are empty. And BTW, Jabbo posted that he was just leaving the thread - not the T. So really you lose, don't you? He will always beat you. I pity you, too, tex.
  17. How sad for you that you pray for God's punishment on someone. I pity you.
  18. K...are we all done with this discussion? Everyone understand where everyone else stands on this subject. I'm going to continue to post on my political beliefs. They are heartfelt and true. Anyone here is free to attach credibility to my posts or not. I post my ideas, thoughts, and feelings with that fact in mind...as I always have.
  19. Since they cannot move back into their homes, they cannot go back to work where they were working. They may be on welfare now since they aren't in their homes, but those people were mostly working poor that were displaced. They worked for a living, just like most americans. The service industry is huge (or at least it was) in NO and these people certainly made low wages, but they were working. In MS, there aren't nearly as many of the service jobs to be had. I suppose they could just migrate to where there are jobs, but moving around the country takes money, which these people just don't seem to be able to make since there are fewer of the jobs they are trained for. Kev, many reports just after Katrina told of the people that were displaced and how they were homeowners. The majority of them were not welfare recipients.
  20. Well, I can see that my thread has indeed gone awry, hasn't it???? Back to the subject...I think Craig will change his mind about retiring and hang in there. (no play on words intended)
  21. Thing is, Solly, the people that were displaced were working in the service industry in NO. The majority of those people were not welfare recipients. NO wouldn't be "rebuilding" a welfare driven city, it would be rebuilding homes of people that lived and worked there.
  22. The source of my info was the actual tape...not SNL...SNL just pointed out how pathetic it was that these people had to be coached to show some kind of excitement to see the prez.
  23. awww, poor dandy. I'm far from bitter. Dems won the mid terms and look like they are going to extend their majority in the 08 election. Dems have some good candidates and a good chance of kicking some booty!!! I'm looking forward to it. Your looking glass must be broken - you are all wrong about my bitterness. Ah - you may see my anger about the war as bitterness...it isn't - it's anger and determination to do what I can to help bring it to an end.
