  1. Does it really matter they are all playing for second place in Williamson County.
  2. OOPs, guess I'll get my shovel and go back to the stalls, sorry muffin!!!
  3. Jackson, Sisk and company are playing well and will deliver the upset so the real question muffin should ask is who does " The RAIDERS" play next?
  4. Which catcher made the District team and what class are they in? Pages' catcher looked very strong I think he is a sophomore. I assume Pages' catcher didn't make it by Pageman's response.
  5. Nick Forte, heavyweight, and JT Wash, 215 are excellent footballers and great wrestlers as well from Brentwood Academy. I believe Wash has beaten the kids from Dickson County and Overton. I believe Forte has only lost one match to a kid from Cookeville.
  6. 37421 and caesar if you are going the speed limit and you get a ticket do you plead innocent or guilty? ceasar the only one I see whinning is you. How many kids in public school transfer to another school because the school to which they were zoned didn't offer a course they "needed". And the school they transfered to happened to have a much better athletic program. Remove the log from you own eye before you try to remove the splinter from your brothers eye. Many kids that are non-athletes apply for financial aid at private schools, to deny kids this opportunity would be punishing them because the school they choose to go to has a good football team. How many public school coaches have been at the same school for 30+ years. No one screamed lets have seperate divisions when Gallatin, Hartsville, Maryville, Milan, Overton, Riverdale, Oakland and Shelbyville Girls Basketball, etc were winning State Championship after State Championship.
  7. Success breeds Success and Success breeds contempt.
  8. I think what Redtwin is referring to is that 16 of the teams in 5A had a 7-3 or worse record: 5 at 7-3, 2 at 6-4, 7 at 5-5, and 2 at 4-6. If these teams weren't included in the first round then the 5A tournament would be 4 games. But as everyone knows if these games were left out it would affect gate receipts for the TSSAA.
  9. To MBA and all their fans: Excellent win and a great season. The National recognition you get is well deserved. You ran a very balanced game plan on offense and defense. Hats off to Fisher, Santi, Koban and the unsung heros on the line. MBA won the game on every front. BA has a lot of work to do but I believe they are still one of the best teams in the state. It's too bad we will never see a true "State Champion" because I think an MBA vs. the 5A "State Champ" would be a great ballgame with a huge attendance. Also, great post Chattcity.
  10. If winning a State Championship without playing the best teams is what you desire then you should be satisified with your hollow championship.
  11. The public schools will never get the National attention they so much desire until they start playing the teams that have that attention. Public schools should want to play private schools to get a true state champion and get the National acclaim that goes with it. No one cried foul when public schools were winning State Championships year in and year out. Why do we have so many divisions with so many play off games? Is it true the TSSAA gets all the gate receipts from playoff games? If they do then I guess that answers my question on why so many classifications. It seems absurd to a school has to play 5 games to win or lose a State Championship and teams with lossing records make it to the playoffs. A high school football player in most cases has to play 15 games if they make it to the State Championship. What was wrong with the old system where all schools were catagorized in three classes? If they won there reagion then they moved into the playoffs. If a school wanted to continually challenge themselves then they could play up a class but never down. If BA's goal was to win at all costs then why didn't they stay single A? They could have been undefeated for years and won back to back forever State Championships. It appears to me the larger schools could not handle getting beat by a smaller better coached well disciplined teams that are typically in the private sector. There have always been "Dynasties" in all sports and they seem to go with the coach. So, when most of the public school coaches want to step it up and play the best I would think they should schedule a private school for there open dates.
  12. Add a week to the schedule and: Let the Division I 5A Champ play the Division II 3A Champ Let the Division I 3A Champ play the Division II 2A Champ Let the Division I 1A Champ play the Division II 1A Champ. This would determine a true state Champion and the Division I 2A and 4A would be State Champs since there is not corresponding Division in Division II. This would help put an end to the public private debate.
  13. Private schools give scholarships to students that would not have a chance, due to financial reasons, to attend a school in which they were interested. The child must contact the school and demonstrate a financial need, which is evaluated by a third party, and pass all the entrance exams and interviews to be accepted into the school. This financial aid is to be awarded regardless of athletic ability, race or religous beliefs. A school cannot go out and activley recruit athletes to come to there school with the promise of financial aid.
  14. It appears the public sector is beginning to feel the wrath of Ronnie Carter and the TSSAA regime much like the private sector has felt the past few years. Neither side likes the weak decisions and the vindictiveness of this organization. Ask Carlton Flatt and BA what it's like to stand up to Ronnie Carter and his TSSAA. If the TSSAA is a non-profit organization then where did the money come from to take the court battle to the Supreme Court? If the current rules and regulations stand then there will never be a true state champion again. This organization was developed to aid and promote high school athletics, not deter them. There must be an unbiased organization that promotes high school athletics with a CLEAR cut set of rules and regulations. The flimsy rules that are currently in place leave to many decisions up personal judgement or how do I want to get back at a particular school or organization. The TSSAA must be challenged to improve their governing process. They can not survive with the current management if their only goal is to remain status quo.
