  1. Not sure that it really matters there comp because together they own this area in football as Indians. Right?
  2. I noticed immediately after the Oak Ridge/White Station game the 96.5WBFG link shut down. How soon before the next session will the link be back? Thanks
  3. I figured you did /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. DB didn't play Archbishop Carroll. They went 3-1 losing to Columbia, Ga and beating Gate City, Northview and Dorsey.
  5. I think you already booked Bearden going to Murfreesboro and winning it all...uh I think you said "BOOK IT" (all caps then so maybe you are not so sure about your prediction this time) /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> So by your logic DB just beat the "best team in the state so they have as good a chance as Oak Ridge. By the way, Bearden is not the best team in the state...far from it. Good talent but not a great "team" And Maryville was not last year's runner up...uh they won it all dude. Get your facts straight
  6. Wrong. Science Hill made it to the finals in 2002. Bradley Central went in '00 and '02 (if you consider them ET)
  7. Skunk Always there to humble me and put things in the proper perspective on the whole picture. Sometimes we (I) can only see the small picutre. You are the master. While I do agree that everyone will not always be satisfied, one has to speak up when there are some glaring issues. In a year when everyone claims this conference is as deep/competitive as ever and has many great players...for a coach to guide his team through that unscathed and not be recognized for it is more than an oversight. And that is in no way taking from the accomplishements of any coach or player bewcause I believe this conference is blessed with both. And then some use the word "hate" in regard to man that doesn't do/say anything to cause anyone to hate him...it's not Bill Belicheck here. I stand by my statement...if you change the name from Morgan to Pitts (or even Cutlip) we wouldn't even be discussing this right now. Just my opinion. Great job on the radio. Will you be calling from Murfreesboro?
  8. I don't have to know you because you made the statement right there in your previous post. I didn't call you a hater...you called you a hater. You said quote" everyone hated DB". If everyone hated DB and you are a someone then you would fall into the everyone as well. I just merely restated what you had written. I understand your point but I think hate is a VERY strong word for 15-17 year old kids playing a game. And as far as the other players hating DB, that is bogus. I was at several DB games where Science Hill players came and watched and sat on the DB side. And even saw Dionte Gray talking with Sylvester and gave his mom a hug. Really what the issue is "county/city" and it always will be. Well DB/Science Hill/THS should win because the schools are bigger, richer, etc. That is always the arguement and until the schools get out of that mind set this conference will always be top heavy. Dickie Warren and Bobby Snyder didn't let that prevent them from winning a ton of games in this conference as well as state tourney appearances. I can't say that Dyer/Vaughn shouldn't have won because I respect them as men but sometimes you just gotta give it to who was the best for 19 games against this conference. If DB had lost a game or two then I would have no issues because I don't "hate" any of the other coaches. And yes you are correct that Charlie would much rather have a state title than a Big9 COY award...but why couldn't he get both? Why say "well his team got to go to Murfreesboro so everyone is happy"? Why not just give the man his due. Like I said, there is NO DOUBT that if Pitts had the same resume this season he would have won hands down. Why would the media hate Morgan? The man has never said/done anything to merit any negativity toward him or the program. Sad..actually pathetic.
  9. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> yeah I hear they are going to stop keeping score and just rotate the conference champion around the league because only the "good teams" are winning it year-in and year-out and that is just not fair. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  10. Wow so you're saying the other coaches and/or whoever votes on the coaches and players HATED DB and chose to use there vote as a way to get back at them for...dare I say it...winning! Please, if that is so then that is an even bigger travesty than Morgan/Williams getting shafted and those coaches should have there votes taken away. Do you think for one second that Charlie Morgan would not vote for who he thought best just because he didn't care for them? no way. But hey you just keep on hating and think it's ok to not reward the best. And give me a break about East being small and not having athletic ability of the "good teams". They had Snapp, the big kid inside, and the freshman of the year. That is more than many teams had.
  11. Amen. Charlie had to share the award before and now flat beat out of it. I have nothing against Dyer/Sull East but sometimes you just have to give the award to the best at that time...not who is doing more with less etc. I mean I don't like Bill Belicheck one speck but when his team goes 17-0 in the regular season you can't give the coach of the year to Mike McCarthy because the Packers weren't expected to be that good and overachieved. Sometimes we as a society are afraid to reward greatness and choose to reward mediocrity. I'm not saying Dyer didn't deserve to win but I think CMo should have been given the award...period. I ask people this...if that was Pitts with the season that Morgan just had who would have gotten the award? I think that question answers itself. As for Jamel, he was robbed of the District tourney MVP and was totally disrespected by not being considered one of the best (not even 2nd team) in this conference. They obviously look at it as career achievement instead of simply asking "if I had to make an all-star team up of the Big9 based soley on this season who would I select?" That question too answers itself.
  12. Only having this one game to go by it was obvious DB was the better TEAM on this night. After reading all the hype and "BOOK IT" on here and Knox News already having them meeting Oak Ridge in the state title game, I was expecting a much better team. Simpson was very S L O W, played very little defense, and consistently got out hustled and beat on the dribble penetration. The team as a whole was very poor shooting and didn't handle the ball very well. Like I said this was one game of 30+ but I feel like DB had the better/deeper team. Interesting that there last 2 losses were against teams with speed that pressured the ball and had great guard play
  13. I was at the game and didn't recall Mills being affected by a turned ankle but I heard them talking and thought I may have blacked out the bad memory of everything that day. The way I recall it, DB had a double digit lead and they subbed and Ford/other guard mauled DB's backcourt and turned the game around completely. Do you remember the score or points scored by players? I have tried for a while to find a write up or recap to no avail. I was sick. We drove down, got a room, drove straight to the arena and it was all over within a couple of hours after arrving in town. I was ready to drive back but clearer heads prevailed. I think Science Hill was there as well and actually won there first round game?
  14. Skunk Listening to the Sports monster this morning I heard Bill Meade state that JaMichael Mills turned an ankle before the Fairley game in '93 and that made a difference in the game. I don't remember that happening. Can you give me the recap on that?
  15. Is that the # you can be reached at? I would like to enquire about that room you BOOKED in the Boro...since you won't be needing it? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  16. Your name says it all you dont know much /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  17. After reading all the hype on here and KnoxNews I would have called it an upset. But actually seeing the game, I would not call it an upset. Yes Bearden had the biggest guy on the court and the Jenkins kid was phenomanal but the best TEAM overall won last night no question. The Simpson kid plays very little defense and many times never even made the trip to the offensive end of the floor and he was gassed by half time. Most of his points were put backs and free throws. Jenkins was easily there best player. Other than those 2 they didn't have much and they are not good shooters at all. DB turned them over alot and I wouldn't trade Sylvester/Williams for any of there guards.
  18. I agree that DB can't close out games. They were up by 18 LATE in the 2nd qtr and should have been able to cruise from there. Quick shots, poor defense, can't take the last shot of a quarter twice (2nd, 3rd), not hitting consistantly from outside, missed several "chippies". They played like they were behind by 18 instead of in front. But give Science Hill credit for not mailing it in. I think they could give Oak Ridge a run for there money both playing the up and down game. It is rare even for DB/The Hill to hook up 4 times much less either team sweep. I think they met 5 times in the 92-93 season with DB winning all the matchups with one being in the Arby's. That was the JaMichael Mills team that was #1 in the state and rolled into Murfreesboro...only to go one and done. Skunk can verify/correct that I'm sure but I'm pretty sure they played 5 times that year. Bearden will be a tough challenge no doubt. DB hasn't been able to play interior defense lately without getting into serious foul trouble as evidenced by Science Hill going to the line 92 times in there 4 meetings this season. WOW! That can't bode well when Bearden I'm sure will rely on there 6-9, 260lb post man.
  19. Congratulations on a great game last night Tremaine.
  20. Well that contradicts what Duncan said. ???He??™s our (University of Tennessee) Dane Bradshaw,??? said Duncan. ???He gets out of the doctor??™s office the other day with a steroid shot and he comes into the game and he has seven rebounds and draws three charges and that is what he does every game and we also put him on the best player. I had to put somebody on Sensabaugh tonight that couldn??™t guard me." So which is it? Was he to guard Sylvester or Sensabaugh? I have to agree though, if he was going to guard 2 players at the same time he WOULD have been the difference maker in the game!
  21. The most over used excuse on these boards! The smaller schools have built it in to throw out when they lose...they just put 5 guys out there not 3000! DB doesn't even have 1700 students much less 3000! And let's don't go down the officiating road regarding last year's game. 21 free throws as a team (16 for Wiggins) vs. 7 for DB and the infamous call of a block AND a charge on the same play involving the same 2 players (that fouled Coty out I believe). The calls wont get any better tonight I'm sure at Hal.
  22. Is that the same "P.J." Prince that Calimari didn't want? I guess he knows his name now huh? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. He's not hitting them of late....or free throws
  24. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
