  1. Daniel Boone is starting to separate themselves from everyone else in NE TN. They could possibly make another run to the State Tournament. They're blowing people out as of late.
  2. Congrats Tribe. Big win tonight. Hope you go down and defend your title. Also Congrats to all the other teams from NE TN that made it. Lets bring home some titles! 5 teams from our area. That's pretty awesome!
  3. Congrats to all NE Tn teams that advanced to State. Great to see all these teams going down to represent our area. Dobyns Bennett Volunteer Unicoi Co. University High Hampton and a little farther south- Sevier Co. That's pretty awesome
  4. I grew up in Etowah as a kid. Played for the Etowah Piledriver teams up until i was going into my 8th grade year (didn't have middle school teams back then). I moved to Kingsport in the eight grade. I remember playing with some really good players that probably had good High school and College careers. Norman Jordan was a few years older than me but i remember watching him play on the older Piledriver team. Mark Stone was another very good player around that time. I did get to play with another great player Gordan Jackson. I think all three of those guys i mentioned played in the SEC. I always wished i had been able to stay in Etowah and play for the Chargers. I remember many friday nights playing paper cup football next to the visiting side bleachers. Best times of my life. Glad to see the program going back in the right direction. I'll always be a fan. Good luck tonight. Go Chargers!!
  5. Class quote WaCo. Once the playoffs start us NE Tn fans should stick together. I'm happy for every team from the Region 1's that have advanced and wish them all good luck next week. PS Great year Tribe. A team with a ton of new starters played their hearts out all year. I look forward to seeing if the Indians and the Wolves can build a legitimate rivalry not just a talking rivalry. WR better reload because the Tribe will be tough in '22. GO Wolves! And go Region 1 teams! Represent Upper East Tn.
  6. Good year Tribe. Played your hearts out. Could be an exciting season next year.
  7. Great first season. I'm afraid it ends next Friday. Play hard from start to finish and try to learn (if possible) what it takes to advance past round two or three in 6A. Best of Luck Wolves!
  8. Didn't see the G.S. post and not sure about DB fans hating on WR. I wish Joey and the Indians the best of luck. They will definitely need it. So would every other team in the State of TN (except Oakland). I know it's not going to happen but wouldn't it be great to see a DB and WR rematch. Oh well. We can always dream. We'll just have to wait til next year for round 2 of the new rivalry.
  9. The closest you can get to a series history is Cleveland wore South out in the semi finals in 93 or 94 (not exactly sure which year it was). Cleveland was loaded. Won the State 2 or 3 years in a row. Saw that game. They were impressive. Hopefully this years Cleveland team is nowhere near that talented.
  10. Reading another thread on here. Cleveland sounds like they could come I-81 and put a hurtin on the Wolves. Hopefully WR can represent Region 1. From what everyone is saying R1 is gonna get swept. Guess we will see.
  11. Great win tonight. What a start for a new school. Looking at Cleveland's schedule this season it looks like they had one lose that maybe they should have won (Bearden). The other loses were to very good teams. Probably better than Region 1 teams. Bottom line is Cleveland's got a 2 1/2 to 3 hr drive to play a team that is probably playing it's best ball of the season. Let the best team win! Hoping for WR's first playoff win.
  12. Anyone heard if West Ridge's QB will play Thursday night. I know he was injured last week and I've not seen anything about his status. If he is out it could make this game a little more interesting. I still think WR should get the W but it could be a closer game.
  13. Big win last Friday. Betsy could have a little let down early but I don't think it will matter. Betsy 35-7. They probably won't run it up like some teams do. Play a lot of people and let some of the starters spectate a little. Maybe South/North/ and Central players can get some payback in a few years if they complete the new County Jail / High School / who knows what it's gonna be facility. Go Wolves! or Convicts!
  14. Good guys. All of them. Played against Scott and was around him quite a bit when he was at Volunteer. Super person and a very good coach. He never had much to work with in Church Hill but he did get a playoff win against TN High which is something Volunteer had never done before he got there and hasn't done since. I felt like they ran him off too soon. He knew how to build a staff. He had one of his nephews (a Witten) and Casey Sivert (his dad coached for years at Cherokee) and a couple of old Betsy coaches, one of them was Dave Rider. Those boys had so much enthusiasm. Elizabethton will continue to excel as long as Shawn is running the program.
  15. It's fun to watch two good football teams going at it. Hope to see it again in a few weeks. I know AC might have something to say about a rematch. Have talked to a couple of people that have seen them play and they seem to think that they might be able to hang with the Region 1 champions (Betsy or Greeneville). I guess time will tell. After the game Friday I saw the interview with Coach Witten. I couldn't believe how much he looked and acted like his papaw. Played against Coach Rider teams in the late 70s. They always played hardnosed football. Great coaching bloodline.
  16. I usually don't do a lot of commenting on these threads but I felt like I needed to this time for some reason. Friday night I was able to watch this game on television and after it was all said and done I came to one conclusion. These two teams will meet again in the near future and I expect it will be just as competitive as this game was. I don't know much about the 4A teams on the west side of the state but I have seen the competition on the east side of the state. IMO these two teams are the cream of the crop. I'm hoping for a rematch and I will make every effort to be there to see it. I predict a Gold ball coming back to N East TN in 4A again this year. Good luck to both teams
  17. Pretty sloppy first half. Looks like there might be some excitement in the second. Bad turnover for the devils but a good drive for a score to get back in the game. First game mistakes.
  18. Amen WaCo. I don't blame any kid for wanting to play in a good football program. This kind of stuff is not new. It's happened for years and will continue to happen.
  19. heck if I were a coach i'd be tickled to death to get a transfer from the Knoxville area if that player chose to transfer. I doubt there are many transfers from the Knoxville area looking to transfer to a NE Tn school. Most goods ones transfer to Maryville or Alcoa.
  20. I started this thread just to get some conversation about all the teams in the area. I'm definitely not knocking Betsy or the Devils. The devils are having a great run. Very impressive program in the last several years. As impressive as any school in the state. Betsy's program is fast becoming a force in the region and if it weren't for the great teams Greeneville has had in the last several years they may be getting more talk around the state. It seems like unless your Maryville or Alcoa programs, all good things come back to normal for athletic programs eventually. I hope both programs dominate for years to come. I enjoy watching East Tn football teams represent our area come playoff time. Just wanted to hear about football in our area.
  21. South Rebels Maybe? If the new school is opening next year (maybe) this could be a go out with a bang season. Maybe go a couple of rounds in the playoffs. Who Knows.
  22. The last few years I think they've stepped their status up a notch. Unfortunately Greeneville and AC has been in their way.
  23. There is no doubt who the powerhouses are in NET (Betsy, Greeneville over the last several seasons). I enjoy watching and hearing about their accomplishments. But I'm an old High School football fan through and through. I'd like to here some talk about other teams in the area. I always looked forward to the Times News and Bristol Herald Courier pre season High School football previews. Back when they really did an excellent job of reporting all the teams (Team Photos, individual pictures and good write ups on every team in the area. Since we don't get that type of coverage anymore i'd like to hear from some of you home team fanatics. Who are some of the talented players in the region and what other teams may sneak up and make a little noise this year.
  24. When my son played in the early 2000s at Volunteer they were in the IMAC with CC. They were always a hardnosed bunch and a couple of those years they had a stud RB that was something to watch. I think his last name was White. I do remember he put right at 300 yds rushing on South and then the next week our RB Sanchez Releford put about 250 on them and had a long run called back. In 02 we played CC in the last game of the season. The winner made the playoffs. We scored on the last series of the game to win. One of the most exciting games I saw my son play in. We went the next week and lost to an undefeated TN High team. I hope CC can make a little noise. Be nice to see some other schools in the playoff picture.
  25. Sorry guys. I know most of these teams I mentioned are 3A & 4A. I'll put the same topic on the other two boards also. Just want to talk football in NET. On all levels.
