  1. I may have tangled my words there. What I was saying is that most of the time the downing the officials are the team that lost, not the team that won. Regardless, their job is to call the game, and like it or not, we have to live with that. That refs job is not an easy one I can assure you. I wouldn't want to be the one doing it.
  2. I'm just wondering how White House can act like this was homecooking when you admit that White House was helped more than ND? These are the best games when the boys get to play real football and not have hankies all over the field for every time they bump each other.
  3. Well actually I am disappointed. I thought White House would take their 0-3 start and according to the previous post be happy that they made it through Greenbrier the second time around and just be thankful to ride this this turn around Ladd season as far they did. I expected to come on this morning to hear how much "BDP" the fans have but instead of taking you loss with humbleness, the refs get all the blame. I have seen Notre Dame, and White House and I am surprised it was a only a one point difference. Your coach must have really practiced those boys. White House's complaining is not going to change the end score. Who did what in the first three quarters doesn't matter. Notre Dame deserves it and they move on. Go Irish.. Look at this way, the Blue Devils get to have Thanksgiving Dinner and then if that's not enough, move to Grandpa's easy chair and read again, the story of "BDP".
  4. No one runs like Gaston, no one stuns like Gaston.... Go Riverdale. You'll get another gold ball. Book it!
  5. I think you read what Dogstar quoted from WH!971, but I may be mistaken.
  6. From what I've read, it wasn't pretty, but a victorious win for ND. Congrats to both teams. Go Notre Dame...next stop Livingston.
  7. I've seen several games this year where the officiating is questionable----rarely to the winning team, but always to the losing team. I'm sure it hurts to be on the losing side, but I doubt that Notre Dame was assigned the same officials for every game they won, and not every game has been at home so the fact that they won those too, makes it even more unlikely it was only officiating. I give both teams congrats. A forunate last part of the season for White House, and a good undefeated season for Notre Dame. If this was all officiating, it should play out next week when they play the next round.
  8. From the records I saw, Melrose won last year. Are the records accurate?
  9. Well spoken, Irish. I've looked for a sports website for ND but don't find one, I've looked at WH's; I find it's interesting that they keep tally's on how many wins and losses. against each opponent year after year. Each game is a "here and now", not what happened for the last five years, etc. Coaches know that, and so do players. Sometimes fans forget. Tomorrow night will be one heck of a game. I've lived in that area, and it's gets pretty cold between those mountains, which makes the noise less because clapping hands are in gloves, but there's always the quieter noisemakers of chattering teeth. I didn't know you guys were still in the onesided stadium. It will be a packed house. Good luck Irish. I predict Spurlock, Cawthorne and Ian have big stats and "the wall" stands strong.
  10. Congratulations to the Senior football players of Greenbrier. I have kept up with all of you from the southern side of Nashville just because of the amazing successes you have had since I've been living here. You boys have the support of true fans that obviously follow their sports teams faithfully. As the previous post says, it all goes by so quickly, but you can take your great years with you in memories that your community will long remember. Congratulations again. I wish all of you and the Bobcats the best for many years to come.
  11. D. Rogan - Fulton impressive player that will be playing at the next level Our boy, Gaston Miller. The best high school football player, I've seen other than Mr. Thomas.
  12. Didn't I read that Ladd was 93% of the total team offense on the game against Polk, and on your website that Ladd was over 60% the offensive? The plays may change but it sounds like somehow Ladd gets involved in most of the offensive drives.
  13. Dennis Rogan from Fulton has been outstanding in his game with the Fulton team. He and Fulton have showed that grit and determination in their two championship wins and being fiercely competitive. With all the sports awards, it shows that Fulton leads well in sports. Dennis definitely deserves the Mr. Football award. He should get utmost consideration.
  14. To answer someone's previous question, you'll find that Lipscomb is affiliated with the Church of Christ. To answer a question that so many want to ask; there is no explanation for their behavior on these boards. However, they will probably win, and we will all have to hear about it for the next 11 months, and probably even longer.
  15. I asked the question because it's all in the perspective I guess. As an former football player, I see a guy still with his feet planted on the ground, and he's not down with all of the defense all over him and even under him. To know that this was punt return opens the picture more, because the punt returner had to almost be standing still. He should've been flattened by a defensive player, but instead it looks like a wrestling match. I can understand how WH would take this as a great defensive stand, but not everyone would see it that way. Yes, the defense of him being stopped is effective, but I only asked why did it take this many guys? One or two should be able to do the job.
  16. It may not sound good to your ear, but Notre Dame is TRULY undefeated. Although the playoffs start everybody off again at 0-0, the momentum ND has after that season to carry on to the State Title is hardly the same as being 7-5.
  17. Rabble, as a short-time resident of Hixson, when traveling for work I try to catch various games when in Chattanooga. I saw the Hixson - Notre Dame game early this year, and a former colleague told me that Notre Dame's defense has literally dominated since, and has been the talk of Hamilton County with the trouncing of everyone around. How do things look for ND in the coming year? Living in southern part of Nashville now, I've seen and read about this White House team. Comparing the two, it will be a smash-mouth game, but without knowing each other, underestimating will be a big factor. ND need not underestimate WH running back Ladd. He too is small and fast. If you keep quick defense on him, prepare for spins and jukes, he will be kept to a minimum. And don't leave him with single coverage on pass-protection. In the same breath, WH need not underestimate the pounding that the Meridith dishes out. He hits like a Mack truck from what I've seen. White House needs to not toss the ball back to Ladd on a kickoff, because ND's quickness will be on you before you get it done. As I've said, I've seen both, and I don't think this will be a runaway, but I think as long as ND plays four quarters with good clock control, they will come away with the win. WH's line should be easier to get through than ND's on blitz's, but WH's handoff's to Ladd are quick and he comes around the ends quick. Good luck to both teams. My prediction is that Notre Dame will move on. WH will try, but it's not easy to stop a Chattanooga locomotive like them.
  18. Here's rooting for Goodpasture...but Camden is going to have to really make mistakes for that to happen.
  19. Man it really took this many guys to tackle him? Obviously he's not going anywhere but he's not down either.
  20. Gaston will bring the heat. Cookeville may try, but they won't stop the Warriors. Good Luck Riverdale...
  21. Well if Gaines was fine, he sure laid on the field a long time. If you're gonna play football, you need breath for all 4 quarters. He may be back for the Notre Dame game, but he's too slow to be a threat. #14 was better in the second game against Greenbrier than the first. I'd say he is one of the best two players. Where have you been if you can't see that Ricky Ladd is your best player? The team isn't up for nomination. He is. Just because White House gets in a huff about what others think, doesn't mean they are going to win. We've all got our opinions, and I just don't think they are going to beat Notre Dame.
  22. I was one of the bystanders with no kid on either team at this game. I was standing nearer to the endzone around some of what were obviously White House fans. No one from White House needs to pretend that they are all class. I heard some things from those people wearing White House shirts that needed to be taken to the parking lot instead of the ball field. Both teams played a good game. White House came away with a win, and moves on. I've seen Notre Dame and you are going to have to more than you did tonight to beat them. Greenbrier played a comeback game and have nothing to hang their heads about. They have had a great season, and nothing said by a team across town should take away from that. As I see it one win this year for each team them pretty evenly matched. But as we all know, to win a game, someone has to come away with a higher score. Nobody left a loser tonight. That's what they all need to remember.
  23. Regardless of the fans attitudes toward each other, I don't see White House fans as being superior or vice versa. Somehow the respect among fans is less than the respect on the field. That is truly a shame. Both teams are pretty equal. Winning 23 or 1 game should not make any player feel lesser or better. Games are just a series of plays and if one goes awry and the next one doesn't it is just the way things play out. The end result and sportsmanship, among the teams, and fans is what matters. Unforunately, sometimes the teams sportmanship is learned from the fans. So make it a good one.
