  1. Well the game started of in a lite rain that stopped for about 3 innings, but from the 4th to the 6th there was a steady hard rain and fog rolled in about the 5th and 6th innings. Jeff. Co. jumped out early with 3 runs in the 1st and 2 more off a homerun by Bryan Cruze and in the 3rd jeff co. got a grand slam from Drew Bowlin off the 1st or 2nd pitch from the relief pitcher. Powell kept battling the entire game, but finally Tyler Farrar pitched a great game and got some key strikeouts and ground outs. Powell's 4 hole hitter absolutely killed an oppo shot that everyone knew was gone right off the bat. Powell deserves credit for battling back and Jeff. Co. needs to keep swinging the bats the entire game. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.

    IMAC

Ok it's about time that the IMAC Conference gets their own topic. I'm tired of hearing about these knoxville, nashville, chattanooga, and memphis teams. Let's hear about the good ole boys from east tn. So who thinks they can be the top dog going into the season and why? Any surprises that no one's heard about? I know Cocke Co. only had about 15 kids tryout and don't have a JV team, but other than that what's everyone's opinion? I think its going to be a four way race for that automatic birth to the regions. I think Greeneville will be tough especially playing a double header up there, I'm glad that Jeff. Co. gets the twin bill against them at Dave Holland Field. West will have a couple arms that will help sweep some double headers. Plus if they can get on a role like they did last year at the end of the season they will be tough. East has some really good players w/ good bats. I know that they have 2 proven pitchers in with Adam and Corey. Then I think Jeff. Co. will be right in the thick of things if they can stay healthy and sharp. I think this years season will come down to who wants to hit the ball that day and who's arms stay healthy. Good luck and I see a very competitive season ahead.
  4. It seems to me that Coach W. and Coach F. are doing a pretty good job coaching the smoky bears. I wouldn't want a father coaching a son in high school baseball, i know it's happened a couple times at Jeff. Co., but I personally think guys need to get away from playing for their dads if not before babe ruth during babe ruth baseball. They have to grow up and learn that they aren't going to play just b/c their dad's the coach.
  5. I have to give credit to sevier co's 2nd pitcher/shortstop. I'm not sure what grade he's in, but he can play. Oh yea and someone needs to help T.Franklin on what signs are what, b/c coach W. jumped all over him for missing 2 hit and runs in a row. Sevier Co. has some talent out there it's just if they can get the right group playing at the right time is going to be tough. Sevier Co. is improving and we'll see them 2 more times and i except every time for that group to improve as a team. They probably aren't going to be winning the KIL, but I can see them giving some teams problems just b/c they will overlook and relax too much when they travel to SC.
  6. I think the biggest key to being a good coach is having the players buy into your system and not hiding your reasons why one player plays over another. If the players trust you or believe in your system than there will be no pulling from ranks to do their own thing. Also, a coach needs to have good leadership from his upperclassmen players. I know that I don't want to let down my teammates down and so if one player gets onto another then the coaches job is much easier and the players take more responsibility on the team.
  7. I think the warmer climate states have a big advantage b/c they can be outside playing almost year round, where as in tn we have to deal with cold days that's it just insane to be out playing in 20 degree weather. So the temp. has to be considered.
  8. Jeff Co. is loaded at pitching once again with still two more years of JETT/GRIGGS pitching together to be added by 2 freshman, and a lefty sophomore pitcher. Also there are a couple 8th grade stars coming up next year. I see Saterfield's girls being tough for atleast another 8 years because these group of girls work well together and the pitching is unbelievable. Good Lucky Lady Pats.
  9. Well now our centerfielder has to catch a couple games in the oak ridge tourny. but he'll be looking forward for the change and then getting back to roaming the outfield.
  10. Cruzey the score was 9-0 at the end of the first 2 innings. the final score was 16-1 b/c aaron piped a fastball down the gut so the guy took him yak, but as long as we keep our 3WP players out there we'll be aight.
  11. The most disgusting superstion of all is wearing the same socks w/out washing them when you're in the grove or on a winning streak, i have to admit i've done that before, but it's still disgusting. My summer time ritual is eating 20 pepperoni pizza rolls and cooking them for 4 minutes and 15 seconds. I ate this before every game my 15 yearold babe ruth all start game until we got to state and there the game that we won i ate them. i batted something ungodly like .685 w/ an onbase %of like .890. it was incredible. PIZZA ROLLS i'm tellin you it works.
  12. So whats the scouting report on Powell this year? I know they usually have a pretty strong team, but i was just wanting some information on them because they are our opener monday and i just wanted to know what to expect
  13. I love nothing more than seeing someone shove it up Morristown West's rear. Go Spartans. Caleb Goforth is about the only west guy i can stand so i hope he does well, but other than that i hope that everyone kills west this year.
  14. Mr. McCreary, Thank you for the information on King College and their baseball program. I'm glad to hear that E.T. has found a place to play and that University is very blessed to have a great player and person like E.T. Best of luck to him this upcoming year and at the next level. I will tell my dad you said hello when he gets in. Thank you again for the information and good-luck. E.T. I'm glad that you enjoyed the campus and coach. Sorry about the weather but it seems like i'll be staying in the cold between Cumberland College in KY and King. Under Armour seems like a good stock to invest in. My JV coach played at King and at one point or another held or still holds hitting records up there so he is going to be a big help in the King deal, but I still have the rest of the year to be seen.
  15. eagle eye, sounds like you know all too well about how the players feel toward the coaching staff. our pitchers are coming along, but one of our lefties has tennis elbow from throwing too much w/ his dad in their barn. we have 3/4 that are tough and will get outs. i play centerfield and catcher
  16. Hey I'm a JCHS senior baseball player and I really just wanted to see how people felt about the talent that is in Jeff. Co.'s program and what they thought of our chances of going deep into post season was this year.
  17. Hack, it looks like I'm going to play 98% of the time in Center and the other time behind the dish, but we have a Junior catcher has an abslote cannon for an arm, but can't seem to block a beach ball or throw anyone out that can run a 7.5 due to lack of accuracy. He will still be behind the dish due to the fact that his dad is very high up in the political group that hovers over our school system. I have gotten 2 offers from colleges to play catcher there so we'll see how that turns out. E.T. what were your thoughts/feelings toward King College? I thouht they were after you, but they called the other day wanting to set up a campus visit w/ me so i was just wanting your opinion.
  18. I've played at this park back my 15 year old babe ruth year in the state tournament. Giles Co. fans were unbelievable, unfortunately your players were not up to par on their attitudes and the way they go out behind the other team while they are taking infield was rather tacky in my opinion. The field is nice and I really enjoyed robbing line drive hits and replacing them with outs against Giles Co.
  19. I've driven by farragut's field and I would assume since the area and the money that is in that town, that he field would be nice, but Jeff. Co.'s field and facilities are the best in the area with the new indoor batting cages and pitching mounds to go along with locker rooms for both varsity/jv and the coaching staff. Yea the field might be pretty short, but the wind swirls up there on Dave Holland Field so don't intend on hitting a lot of bombs there. The best field in the entire state of TN has to go to Tusculum College, that field is so smooth and quick that its THE REAL DEAL.
  20. Coach Holland at Jeff. Co. told our outfielders that a way of communicating was shooting birds, and we do that really well driving down the road. He also told us that we needed to do more of it, so I guess he thinks shooting each other birds is a good way to communicate to each other.
  21. I've heard that this is the last year that Sevier Co. is playing in the KIL in all sports and that starting next year they will be a member of the IMAC Conference and Region 1. Has anyone else heard this rumor? I'm guessing thats why SC is playing all the IMAC teams this year. Well I was just wondering if the move is just wishful thinking or what. OH and on Friday, Go Patriots, watch out for their centerfielder, he covers some ground.
  22. my bad E.T. Rory is skwerlsak.
  23. Alright its official, Bull Durham is the most quoted baseball movie in here
  24. The simpliest of all superstions is not stepping on the foul lines when coming on and off the field, thats a must.
  25. I just wanted to send my congrats to E.T. for signing w/ Falkner State and good luck on this upcoming season. I go to Jeff. Co. but I've been to camps with E.T. and he's one of the best catchers I've seen in the area and a great guy so good luck and go Rockwood especially since we don't play you.
