  1. I did not know that Coach Sharp was Coach Ward's freshman coach at Milan until it was in the CAMDEN CHRONICLE today. I didn't realize Sharp was that old. How old is he, 70 or 80? Ward is at least 50.
  2. That is, if one thinks frogs are pretty. Go Lions!
  3. Is surf fishing anything like toe digging or is it more like bumping the bottom? Your whole family is good about supporting Camden football and it is appreciated.
  4. Yea, I see what you mean. Riverside really surprised me this year. They are about twice as good as I thought they'd be. They were better last year than their record indicated. I respect them for lining up with Lexington every year. They don't have to do that.
  5. This game is what a lot of people said it would be back before week one - the 6AA championship game. I'm looking forward to it.
  6. Glad to see Bertier back posting the greatness for 5AA and saying their lower teams could win over the top teams in 6AA. (This is something that cannot be calculated until the playoffs.) He was a huge prop for Camden last year when they went to Fairview and came out like a spring let out of a bottle. Keep posting Bertier! (And keep those grades up at Martin.) You are a bright, young star and a fine representative for your team.
  7. There will be one, if not quite a few, "12-13" signs around Camden's stadium Friday night. That will be bitterly remembered until the class of 07 graduates. In the long run, it probably helped our program though. Since that game, we have been 18-4 with 3 losses to Huntingdon and 1 to Westview. Ofcourse I'd like to see our program get to the next level, but since Ward and crew have been here, we've come a lonnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg way.
  8. Lewis Co. ends up their regular season with a trip to Camden. How's it going to be?
  9. Huntingdon or Milan either one can beat Alcoa if they don't get the big head and choke like H'don did last year.
  10. Has it ever been mentioned to combine Gleason and Greenfield to make a south Weakley Co. high school. I know that originally Dresden was to be Eastview and Martin Westview, but Palmersville knocked that out. It just seems to me a 2AA Weakley South High School would be a tough opponent of Dresden and Martin. Has this idea ever been kicked around down there?
  11. Like the 1980 U.S. victory over the former Soviet Union in Ice Hockey.
  12. I think our boys would be at least 7th in region 7-2A, if it was the only region in the state. Blow your own horns, 7 2a, we were in the mix last year and will be this year too.
  13. Sounds to me like somebody's little Eggly is not getting enough playing time at Union City. I recommend if you don't like the play calling or ball carrier selection, you take your kid to another school where he can play more; or let him join the band, where he probably belongs anyway. I'm for the coaches right or wrong. I'm for the parents when they're right, which is rare.
  14. Comer gets my vote because he will let you score 40 pts. and still beat you. Any other good 1A coaches in the West or Middle?
  15. In West TN it has to be Huntingdon and Milan. (There are other good programs over here, but I'm talking consistancy for the past 30 to 40 years.) Football in these two towns is huge from a very young age. It is my opinion they win due to the number of kids they have out for football year after year; from the junior leagues, to junior high, and on into high school.
  16. I'll go with Tiger High on this one, but they better put two good halves together this week to beat that bunch from At Wood.
  17. Duckman, was this game better than last year's Camden-McKenzie game?
  18. USJ is really enjoying the 2A jaunt aren't they? This week they'll get another lesson about what 2A is about. (H'don by 40+.) Welcome to Huntingdon, where a Booooooooo is a good thing...................
  19. Stewart Co. will be happy with a 3-7 season. That's the most they have won since they were 5-5 in 99 under the Great Swami Jim Swafford. Actually 3-7, with a win over Houston Co. is a winning season in Dover.
  20. Huntingdon will get the job done against USJ.
  21. It looks like Tiger High is rebuilding again this year. I think they'll make it back in a couple of years. I wondered myself about U.C. and McKenzie going to 1A. If I'm the director at either school I would have opted (if given the choice) to stay 2A. Both schools have good programs and trememdous community support. 1A will hurt their gates (and eventually their programs) when the hand full of fans come in from the Gleasons and Greenfields of the state.
  22. I thought the Waverly fans were quite hospitable this year and I noticed several Camden fans taking part in their fish fry. Waverly's football program is one step away from being a tough competitor in Region 6AA. (I would like nothing better than to see Camden, Riverside, and Waverly fight it out every year for the top two spots.) Tiger High did not put their heads down against the Lions last night. I didn't see hardly any dirty shots either. My hat is off to Waverly this year and I wish them well in their rebuilding program. P.S. I think some college is dumb if they don't recruit #75 from Waverly.
