  1. Bottom line is that somebody's kids are playing in games.....but the parents aren't around. That's frustrating enough. What irritates me more, is to think of the times that I, other parents, coaches, etc, have attempted to call a "missing" parent to tell them that their child is hurt. Either they don't care - or they aren't home. That's really sad.
  2. Glad you guys made it back safe. I'm a Central fan and I really, really disagree with your post....but I'm not going to get into a war of words with you. You guys showed a lot of potential and I wish you the best of luck the rest of the season. We'll see you again about this time next year!!!!
  3. Fullback49....judging from your post, I assume that you are from Siegal???
  4. I add this...which I have posted to another topic of similar conversation....... When Stever Spurrier was at Florida - he said that he was not going to tell his 2nd & 3rd team guys NOT to score. The way he saw it, those guys work just as hard as the first team and deserve the chance to show what they can do. Also...some states have a "mercy rule". Meaning there is a continous clock without stoppage once the point differential exceeds a certain # of points. Any thoughts on that???
  5. wjr & redrage - thanks for backing me up. After I posted my initial response, I was afraid that I might get a red-card from the moderator of this page!!!! I agree with everything both of you have said...espeically the respect and aggressive issues. In my opinion, it seems that the 10% of officials that wjr mentioned is growing.
  6. Personally.....I think soccer officials are jerks and have an elitist attitude. And I just don't understand why? Aren't they there to just officiate a simple little game of organized kickball???? You can NEVER - EVER ask a soccer official a simple question without the threat of a yellow card. And even if you are a non-participant (fan/parent) - I have seen them threaten to have a person removed from the premises. Can you imagine those same cowards having to officiate a game where the participants, coaches, and fans are allowed to disagree with them (basketball, football, baseball, softball, foosball, basketweaving, etc.)?????? No wonder those pansies wear pink and yellow shirts with black socks to their knees and wave flags in the air!!!!!!
  7. What are you boys smoking on the mountain?????

    89-0

Give credit to LCHS for fielding a team....but they have never been worth a flip.
  9. Hey Toney, Toni, Tony - Got a few suggestions for you.... Either... 1) Put down the drink 2) Learn to type 3) Consult a Webster's Dictionary "watz dis boy tryin to say?"
  10. Yup....McCallie may be "The Real Deal". I guess it really is amazing when you can recruit on the high school level. Seriously...McCallie is a very talented team and I wish them the best the rest of the season. They flat-out beat Central in every aspect of the game.
  11. I'll be at the Knox. Central vs. Chattanooga McCallie game come Friday night. McCallie is ranked #2 or #3 in the state in the private, large division Knox. Central is #2 in the state in Class 4-a Both teams are 3-0
  12. This should be a good game against two top ranked teams in their respective divisions. I also think it is really a toss-up as to who will win because they don't really have any common opponents. It seems like many people have posted their opinions based on "paper match-ups". Neither team wants to lose this one and both are placing a lot of importance on this game as to how well they should expect to perform the rest of the season. Central is loaded on offense, but their D remains somewhat suspect. They stepped it up quite a bit last week in the 2nd half against West, but will it be enough to contain senior QB Ryan Moore of McCallie? McCallie essentialy restocks / reloads every year, and this year is no exception. As several have already noted, Moore is a quality QB / top prospect in baseball as well as the winning QB in the 2001 season. He also has a well tested D to back him up .... his linebackers are expeienced and this should test the potent Offense of Central. I wish I had a prediction of who would win....but I don't. I'll be cheering for Central, but I am going to be there just to watch a good game. In no way do I think this will rival the Central-Oak Ridge game in 91.....but based on the schedule match-ups in Knox Co. on Friday night.......this is the game to be at!!!!!
  13. ANSPA...I understand what you are trying to do. According to WVLT-TV, here is their top 8 in the Knoxville area... 1) Maryville (4-A) 3-0 2) Knox. Central (4-A) 3-0 3) Oak Ridge (5-A) 2-0 4) Anderson County (3-A) 2-0 5) Austin East (3-A) 2-0 6) Seymour (3-A) 2-0 7) Kingston (3-A) 2-0 8) Knox. Catholic (DII-2A) 2-0 Hope this helps!!!!

    Central vs West

Central has played three pretty good teams in Greeneville, Wm. Blount, and West. I know that some of these teams may have been overlooked early in the season, but they are all pretty solid and should be contenders as the season progressess. I don't know what was said at half-time, but it seemed to me that the Central D. picked it up in the 2nd half. They get their first big test next week vs. McCallie...also Central's first home game.

    Central vs West

splainsornet...I agree that the hit Brewer put on that kid was one of the best. Too bad that plya was nullified by a penalty. Great hit though!!!!
  16. Blueboy & Burley - I totally agree with you. Also, many kids are now getting jobs in order to buy their music, clothes, cars, etc. For some - material possesions are more important than sports. For the past 7 years I have noticed that some of the best athletes are walking the halls instead of the fields. I really hate that because I feel that athletics can teach many valuable life lessons.
  17. When Steve Spurrier was coaching the Gators, he said that he is not going to tell his 2nd teamers, etc. not to score. The way he sees it, these kids work hard during practice and deserve the opportunity to show what they can do.....whether a blow-out is in progress or not. By the way...I don't agree with your assessment that the starters usually get beat the next week after being pulled early. This gives the starters a chance to rest, as well as developing some quality talent and depth.
  18. I'm not surprised either.....Wasn't it a few years ago that a sudent dropped a gun and shot himself at a Pearl-Cohn / Hillsboro basketball game?
  19. Heard on the news tonight that he has suspended for the first two games and will be allowed to return to coaching the week of Sept 8 - 12 game (no game that week). Still no word on what caused his suspension.

    Classless

I'd like to add to the classless list. Back in '96 before the Public / Private split, Brentwood Academy was playing McGavock with a 35-0 lead, with 5 seconds to go in the first half. Academy throws and bomb and scores to go up 42-0 at halftime. McGavock went on to get beat like 60 something to 6. I respect Coach Flatt for all of his accomplishmentts, but I felt that was unnessecary. 926, I agree that "stranger things have happened". Two years ago in the playoffs, Anderson County scored 22 points in the last 4 minutes of the game and went on to beat Knoxville Fulton in OT.
  21. Cornpup....been around fastpitch for 15 years. I agree that there are shoulder problems, but I said "Rotator Cuff Problems" (re-read my previous post). Not all shoulder pain is due to the rotator cuff. Most of the problems that I have encountered are biceps tendinitis, subacromial bursitis/impingement, and a couple tears to the glenoid labrum. As a certified Athletic Trainer, I feel that I am pretty qualified to determine the source and cause of "shoulder problems".
  22. cornpup, you present a good argument, BUT... throwing a softball is more of a natural motion than throwing a baseball. I haven't heard of many softball pitchers with rotator cuff problems.
  23. Who will be the QB for the Mavs? Go AC!!
