  1. I have sat back and read the comments and will only say this. I have been a part of a staff that played against Antioch the last 2 years. When Hall was in charge we spent very little time in game prep for them. The team was terrible, lacked organization and scheme. I wondered if the players even knew what they were running offensively or defensively. Woodward comes in, gives them structure and improved the program tremendously. Had to actually prep for them this year and it was a much more competitive game than the year before. I actually hope they give the job back to Hall because it will at least make my job easier preparing for the Bears!!
  2. I will still say it right now Riverdale is on another level. It is Riverdale and then every other girls basketball team in the state. They are not ranked #1 in the nation for nothing. They have beaten Stewarts Creek 4 times. Does the Creek have a shot of upsetting them absolutely but it will take a great effort by SC and a night where Riverdale is not quite in sync. Almost happened in the district title game a 2 point loss by SC. That night Riverdale made zero 3-pointers that night and still snuck out a win. Maybe the 5th time is the charm for the Lady Red Hawks. Who knows??
  3. I find it funny that Bradley fans talking bout missed free throws when the Lady Red Hawks missed their fare share of free throws as well. Game not as as close if Stewarts Creek makes free throws. The better team won tonight bottomline. SC went into Bradley, led the majority of the game and punched their ticket to the state tournament. Bradley has a good team and Howard is Special. After seeing them they would have finished 3rd or 4th in district 7-AA. Outside of Howard they are average at best. Congrats to Bradley on a good year and congrats to the Lady Red Hawks on advancing!!

Game not as as close if Stewarts Creek makes free throws. The better team won tonight bottomline. SC went into Bradley, led the majority of the game and lunched their ticket to the state tournament. Brady has a good team and Howard is Special. After seeing them they would have finished 3rd or 4th in district 7-AA. Outside of Howard they are average at best. Congrats to Bradley on a good year and couldn't gears to the Lady Red Hawks on advancing!!
  5. Ok I have kind of set back and let this little talk play out but gonna give you honest truth right now. 1st of all the AAA state title is Riverdale to lose. Bottomline end of story. Bradley has a nice team but they don't see the Calibur of Basketball played in the Boro all year period. They need to concern themselves with beating Stewart's Creek at home on the substate before they worry bout Riverdale. Cumberland Co, the best thing that could happen to Stewart's Creek is them upsetting Bradley in the regional final because the Creek would beat them by double digits at home in my opinion 13-14 points. I have seen all these teams with the exception of Bradley play this year. With that Bradley got by Stewart's Creek last year I'm a close one and promptly got bounced from the state tournament without making the finals. Until a team from.Middle/East TN proves they can handle a Boro team in the state tournament, when the last time a nonboro team won a AAA title, keep the talk to a minimum please! Thanks
  6. Hear Chad Barger former Sequatchie Co. Skipper has applied. If so the Tigers should give him a long look. He would provide stability and also a hard nosed blue collar work ethic that Whitwell would give in. He was very successful in Dunlap and I believe would do the same at Whitwell.
  7. I go d this laughable! My experience in 20 years of coaching has been football pressing kids to play only 1 sport was the minority. With AAU Basketball Fall league baseball, football is truly the only sport that doesn't go year round. I am a firm believer that a kid should be allowed to be a kid and play as many sports as they want in high school. An all-star game that lasts a week for most kids that are going to college in that sport anyway is not damaging anyone. If you want to rail against specification might want to look at Basketball and Baseball and how players are told you got to play AAU and summer/Fall league to get exposure so you can get recruited!!
  8. Impressive performance by Stewart's Creek to pick up a huge win over Summit and secure the school's 1st ever playoff birth. Great team win
  9. Notre Dame Alum wasn't taking anything away from Indy I'd you read the post said they are a great team and the better team at this point. Point I was making was Stewarts Creek played hard and a couple of turnovers and a big kick return for a TD keep them from having a shot in the 4th to win it. I agree that all those are part of the game so no. Excuses here. Thanks for showing up to look like an arrogant you know what though.
  10. Indy is getting it done but final score not indicative of the game as SC had 3 RBs go over 100 yards against the Eagles and physically handled line of scrimmage most of the night. Two turnovers that lead to short scoring drives along with a kickoff return for a TD when the Creek had cut lead to 27-17 late in 3rd was big. Indy is definitely legit and the better team at this moment but the Red Hawks are continuing to get better and not too far off from being a very good team themselves. Huge turning point in game was right before half with Indy up 13-3 SC drives the field and ends up missing a short field goal after drive stalls on the 11 yard line. Then Hawks defense holds but the Creek fumbles first offense play on their own 18 yard line or so. And Indy punches it in in the final seconds before half to go up 20-3. Can't make those mistakes against a team that good.
  11. Doesn't matter Sequatchie a good valley team but mark my words don't get out of 1st couple rounds of playoffs. They can't athletically play with the elite of 3-A. Good luck Indians for rest of year and enjoy the wins
  12. Boohoowiseman you are correct on this one. Saw it happen first hand with a basketball team few years ago. Player told coach they had moved, brought in address and bill from that address. Coach turned it in to TSSAA and kid was deemed eligible based on the info provided. Later it was found out that parent lied about change of address and they were still living at prior house. When turned into TSSAA player was ruled ineligible and team had to forfeit the 6 games he played in. Even though the coach and administration was misled they still got punished. As far as the rule goes player must have a bonifide change of address and the previous residence must be vacated, no utilities or bills going to the prior address for player to be eligible. This prevents parents etc. From renting apartments, etc just to get child to play for certain team. The exception to this is when a change of guardianship occurs or a child is removed from a home and placed in another home, foster home etc. I don't know or care to know the situation going on in Marshall Co. I just wanted to try and help clear up some of the confusion on the transfer rule. Good luck to all teams in 4-4A
  13. Booger got to correct ya on one thing Notre Dame played Central in Finley back to back years 2007 and 2008. Lost both years to the Pounders. That said Should be a good test for the new Pounder skipper who has Central football looking up but still feel the Irish got a few too many weapons at the moment.
  14. At mcgavock Tuesday (today) weather permitting
  15. nrgrizzlies the Creek scrimmages McGavok tomorrow at 6 pm and then play Blackman in the jamboree at 7 pm Friday.
  16. Nrgrizzlies the loss of Cynterius is a big one to fill at the DB and return game position but I believe Haraway will fill in fine if not better at QB than The one tha Creek lost. The big loss maybe Clay Griggs at F/s. Otherwise the Red Hawks will be fine lines and such. Can't wait for football to start for real!!
  17. yes definitely my bad on leaving them out I see them in the 5 spot and bump Everyone else down a spot. So here you go 5. Shelbyville ( lost alot of talent last year starting with the QB who made that offense go. Lost Eddings the RB as well as the best WR. Couple that with the late departure of Hardy and the Eagles have some work to do. Always some athletes on the field but can they overcome the change? If so they could slide into the 4th spot and grab another playoff birth)
  18. Saw alot of talk about 4-5A and 6-5A thought we could get a little chatter about this district going. This was a very competitive district from top to bottom last year that contains the defending State champs. 4 teams ended up tied for 2nd place in Lincoln Co. Shelbyville LaVergne and Stewarts Creek. Stewarts Creek ended up odd man out of the play offs through the tiebreakers. So what are your predictions for the district this upcoming season and what are your thoughts on your favorite 5-5A team. Here is a order of finish prediction and feel free to put add your picks and opinions 1. Independence (they are the champs till proven otherwise lost alot of talent but have talent returning) 2. Stewarts Creek ( tied for 2nd last year and have alot returning including entire backfield. Year 4 could be the year of the Red Hawk) 3. Lavernge (Most talented team not only in he district but possibly RUCO. Played inconsistent lat year and are apt to lose games they shouldn't if they find consistentcy will be dangerous) 4. Summitt ( Young team last year that plays extremely hard and with alot of heart. They are a year older and stronger so I See them in 4th) 5. Columbia( not sure what to expect out of new regime. Always have talent and if they get some out of the hallways could slide into 4th) 6. Lincoln Co. ( Very strong hard nosed team last year but lost most key players and alot of seniors. Can they do d enough replacements to retool or will it be a rebuild in Fayetteville? I think a year or so away) 7. Franklin Co. ( Lost coaches and also hearing best athlete moved west to LaVergne. Got the most questions to answer in the district in my opinion)
  19. Shelbyville was not expected to be that good this year. They Lost most all of their offense in QB and Eddings the RB. Marshall is a good team but Shelbyville will be battling just to get a final playoff Spot I believe. So I would say 5-5A will be stronger than you think especially with Stewarts Creek, Indy and LaVergne all expected to be strong.
  20. Dadtimesfive Coacht used to be for coaches and passing on information, when I joined mant years ago. now it has turned more into a site for people to hide behind screen names, bash coaches, question their character etc. However I respect the fact you came on here and stated your point without resorting to personal attacks or questioning character motives etc. Again I pretty much Knew the answer to the questions when I asked but honestly was curious how the Bobcat faithful felt about the situation. No hard feelings on my end so this is all I have to say bout the situation and dadtimesfive if I ever get time to host a card game I'll give you a shout!!
  21. Thanks bobcatbacker! Good luck to the young men at GC in the scrimmage and this fall. Again I was asked the question so thought I would pass it along.
  22. See BobKat you don't know as much as you like to think you do. First off, I know for a fact that 8th graders were not bused over to workout while Walt was HC.Second As far as what is going on at Giles I was asked by someone at a scrimmage recently about the rumor and also have had a few text from area coaches asking if I have heard anything so don't let it be ASSUMED that it was former staff members that are feeding that info! As a result I just asked the question? I knew in asking I would probably hear from the minions and catch some heat no big deal but don't like personal attacks. My daddy taught me if you gonna question a man's character be man enough to look him in the eye and do it. As for GC I wish nothing but the best for the KIDS playing at GC alot of good quality young men there. As far as the former coaches you like to bash, I know again for a FACT you have no clue. All this didn't practice past 5:00, didn't work hard garbage is all nonsense. Here is some examples The football players had workouts 4 days a week during Off-season, Walt held speed school two nights a week from January till April, practices ran from 3:15 till at least 5:45-6:00 with exception of Thursdays during season. Summer workouts were 3 days a week in June for two hours each day an hour of lifting and hour of conditioning with players having two sessions they could attend so coaches were actually there 4 hours each of those days. They went to Multiple July 7 on 7s including overnight trips to Alcoa and Maryville College. Throw in the Sunday film sessions with the players starting at 2 pm then coaches film and game plan that ran from 4:00-4:30 on Sundays until they were done which typically was 7:00-7:30 as well. So to say those guys didnt give up time and work is a straight up lie. Those guys you like to bash are great men of character who are also great coaches who cared about winning but also doing things the right way. Funny how all those folks complain about Walt and his short practices. Gary Rankin once said if you keep kids out on the practice field more than 2 1/2 hours you are spinning your wheels and wasting time. Also know another coach who has coached in 8 state title games who does not believe in ever practicing longer than 2 hours. He said It is not about the time you are out there it is how you spend your time.Everyone has their own philosophy. It just difficult for me to understand how you knew so much about Walt's staff, their inner workings, and what they were doing not doing but yet don't know what is going on with OC and staff? Oh well lol
  23. Well Bobkat seemed to strike a nerve? Is that a yes to the question? Wow you seem to know me so well!!too bad thru all that garbage you just posted you didn't answer the question? As far as the post I do have class and therefore won't respond to it. However since you do know me so well I will be glad to meet up and discuss my personal reasons, character or anything else you want to talk about face to face. Just hit me up since we know each other so well.
  24. Spring ball just started? Word I have been hearing up my way is them boys been practicing since late Feb./early March. Also a hearing they been busing 8 th graders over to work out which is against TSSAA rules. So I am asking if it is rumor or is the staff at Giles already back to their old tricks? Inquiring minds want to know! LOL
