  1. I predict that Franklin will be the Riverdale of Williamson Co. However, I also think that the entire County could eventually be the best in the state. There is nothing that says they cannot all be great programs. In fact, they are all well on their way right now.
  2. Most press box coaches I know are one of two things: 1) complete genuises, or 2) complete idiots. At the school I am most familiar with, they have one of each. Sounds like gopher15 is a press box coach. His defensiveness also makes it sound like he's of the complete idiot category.

    Goodpasture

Congratulations on your 4th state championship!
  4. Does Alcoa have restrooms on the visitors' side? Seems I have eaten some tainted turkey today, and there's no way I'm sitting too far from a pot. I am planning on wearing a Depends diaper for the trip up, but those get a bit uncomfortable after a few hours of being soiled.
  5. chatt choo choo and easttnfootball expert are desperately wanting everyone to cease all the talk about anything but football, but then proceed to use this board to discuss Friday evening plans for parking, eating, sitting, etc. You cannot have it both ways, fellas.
  6. Actually, Houston County has two player than run a sub 4.0 forty. One is #28 Justin Harris, a 5-10 200 lb. senior who starts both ways for the Irish at WR & DB. The other is #44 Tray Mitchell, a 5-10 145 lb. senior who aslo starts both ways at SE & SS.
  7. Oh, now I get it, sarcasm. Is that the same thing that Apu, Jr. was using on another thread when you told him to "just report facts or don't report anything at all"? I hope DL's McAdams reads this thread before he announces to the team that HC conceded.
  8. OK, here's a fact for you: This message board is for opinions (at least that's what jettjuice has said ad nauseam), and opinions are like buttholes - everybody has one, and most of them stink. Is that factual enough?
  9. That's good. I'm sure DL is thrilled that you, jettjiuce, have conceded defeat. Wow, I thought you had a little more confidence in your team than that.
  10. H e R e . . . . . is my VoTe!!!!!!!!!!! I agree that it is Aiken at BB, and your intangible coment is true. They lost a guy named Bob Spayed to Lipscomb who was very much the heart and soul of that program, and for that matter, maybe even the entire school. Bob was the campus minister at BB, but did far more than minister to the campus. He practically ran the school, K-12. I hear most of all the good service projects doen in the greater Chattanooga area were due to Bob's visionary leadership. He was a lot like what you see in colleges with strength coaches; he was involved in everything frmo on the field stuff (I think he even called the secondary coverages in some games) to off the fiedl stuff (he knew the problems the kids had before they ever happened!). He has a similar role at Lipscomb. He is the pre-game motivator, the post-game prayer leader, and I hear he coaches the LB's. He's also at every school function the school does too. I take back my vote for Aiken and give it to Bob Spayed, even though he's no longer in the Chattanooga area. L O V E . . . . you guys.
  11. Mustangfan, You must have two accounts, and your other one is tackle becasue that was the most worthless post I've ver read (and I've read some bad ones - What esle is a guy supposed to do all day at work?!?!?). I'm still unsure of exactly what the point of your post was. And you are wrong about Lipscomb losing in the first round. According to the Italian Stallion, Lipscomb will win every game b/c they have more players on theri team. Now, I grew up in a different state (not the same state as paper: the state of delusionment), but last time I checked, teams are only allowed to have 12 on the field at a time. So it doesn't matter how many are on the sidelines. If a team has 200 on their team then 186 must remain on the sideline w/ the coaches. And from what I read about the Lispcomb coaching staff, standing next to them fools may not be a good thing. Paper, BTW (that means "by tha way"), you sure talk a lot of smack. And one day when you're a parent you'll understand. Until then, just keep running in circles.
  12. More useless research from a very bored man. Don't bother me w/ all these meaningless details. OK then, I hope OS beats Boyd-Buchanan, BA and William Blunt and meets Louisville Trinity in the Mayo Clinic Bowl.
  13. TankTalk, You shouyldn't have edited your original post about paper calling paper what he is. I know him, and he's not worth arguing with. He needs to stick w/ coaching middle sachool girls volleyball. Give him a TSSAA card and a Coach T account and he thinks he has the right to say whatever he wants. I think he's from the left coast, so what does he know about good-old-boy football? He needs to bury his head in the sink hole in his back yard. Here is a summary of what paper said: "I am an antagonizing jerk." As for tackle, now he's a geek of a different color. He must be bored, lonely, resourceful and cheap (don't ask me how I know he's cheap - it's just an intuition). Anybody who would take the time to look up all that stuff has issues. I've researcxged everything he's said, and only 99% of it's true, but again, what kind of geek does that sort of research?!?!? And his math seems a bit off. I sure hope he's not a math teacher. I bet he's too stupid to be a good father too. He's also the one that wants to go back to the good ole days of one room schools (see his thread on Small Town Schools). Yeah, we need to go back to the days of Little House on the pRarie. Nellie wuold be a great QB (very spunky), Mary a good nose-tackle (scrappy, but poor vision), Manly a good cheerleader. Itallion Stallion is anything but a stallion. Anybody can sit behind a computer and make sarcastic comments. Why don't you tell us who you are and then be so bold and arrogant? I bet you and I wouldn't get along very well. And your numbers are way off. Lispcomb had 62 last year, Mitchell 51, and OS 45. I hope OS beats Tyner, Lipscomb and Goodpature just to prove a point. And I hope they meet MBA in the Blue Bonnett Bowl and beat them too.
  14. OK, you've waited long enough. First of all, as I type I cannot help but be distracted by the woman's abdomen at the top of the page. I would prefer not to be tempted to lust as I ponder da best DB coach. Right now all I can think of is Elle McPherson. Now I've scrolled down so I cannot see it anymore, and my answer is . . . Elle McPherson! Do you think she's any kin to Mike? I bet that's his wife. But seriously folks, da best is not even coaching DB's any more. He's now at da Boro (Hillsboro that is) coaching OL & DL; his name is Julius B. Gore. He took East Robertson to a state championship, practically founded BGA, took Lip scum from cellar dweller to state champs in '93. Before Gore got to DL they had never had a winning season! Everybody gives credit to McAdams, but it;s all Gore. Shoot, I hear Mac still calls Gore daily to ask him how to run a 3 deep zone. Since Gore's been at Hillsboro they have DOMINATED. He may be da best all-around coach in the sity, state & nation. The Italian Stallion?!?!?!?! What the crap does Rocky Balboa have to do w/ this?!?!?! If you;re refering to somebody then step up and call them out by name.
  15. THE STANGEROO IS BACK BABY! Wait patiently for my answer.
  16. Hey, lay off the filmer! Have you seen the DL pressbox? He's probably fighting for 1) safety - it's a piece of junk and you're always in danger of falling through the roof, and 2) space - I hear the DL radio crew is comprised of about 16 grown men and another dozen kids that they pay $1 a night. They must think they're ABC Monday Night Football or somoetihng. (Although their sideline reporter doesn't really compare to Melissa Stark or Lisa Guerrero.) That would be a good joke. How many DL folks does it take to broadcast a game? As many as they can fit on the press box! Pantherfanatic, Another pole would be appreciated. Please let us know when you get it up.
  17. My view from behind the stat computer sees it much differently. The brainpower behind this operation seems to be . . . . . . . well, there are no brains. They're all a bunch of dysfunctional, bumbling bafoons. I can say this b/c they're so stupid that they won't know what a bafoon is. They'll think it's a low-pitched woodwind instrument with a double reed, having a long wooden body attached to a U-shaped lateral tube that leads to the mouthpiece. The range of this instrument is typically two octaves lower than that of the oboe. From the French basson, and from Italian bassone (a basson for all you musical midgets out there). I bet their kids get one horrendous education. Most of the alumnases (not sure if the spelling is correct, but what do I know, I'm not a physics teacher) I know are also dumber than dirt in a west TN cotton field. For example, I knew one alumnusai who sold his birth-right for a lick on a Tootsie Roll Pop. Or was it a sniff of germitox? Irregardless, that's a mute point. War for all.
  18. Listen guys, we all need to keep this stuff in perspective. I apologize for getting so passionate about this thread. Let's remember, 100 million Chinese couldn't care less. Now that leaves us with another 1 billion that could care less, but who's counting? The best part about football is that we get to run around in gangs and beat people up. Also, football epitomizes Christianity. If you combine the two then you've got some issues, but let's not do that.
  19. Well, more time spent on this topic has added new insight. After all this time, I have come to realize that I actually know the Tilghman guy. He is originally from Mayfield, KY and not AL. His brother is named Theodore and his mom and dad are named Ward & June. Edwards is not smart enough to put pressure on the Goodpasture QB, so how could he be smart enough to use multisyllabic words. My guess is that he cannot be paper. All this talk brings up my vote for the real best line coach: Jay Gore. Gore was responsible for making BGA the power that it has become. He also took DL from the bottom to a state championship. He then left DL after too many wins to keep up w/ and is now at Hillsboro. He's been there 5 years and they have lost one regular season game. Rumor has it they decided to smoke a cigar after each win. Problem is that they now all have lung cancer. I think McAdams is probably behind alot of this. I hear he's actually a computer whiz. Heard some story about how he actually invented the mouse. Do you know that he also invented germitox? He was experimenting in his lab one day (he teaches 7 AP science classes a day) and came up with this stuff that's likfe flubber. They say the movie Flubber is based on his story. Many think he's just a good ole west TN boy, but he's been cityfied. Freinds on the inside say he's on the cutting edge of technology. Heck, I hear they have a big screen TV in their coaches's office, and if you;re sitting directly in front of it you can actually make out some of the picture. Also hear he keeps finding great deals on VCR's. Apparently he found some for under $200 so he bought a whole bunch to make film copies for the kids. He must be one of those types that doesn't mind spending the money to make it happen. Well, I better get back to the Grove. Hotty Totty.
  20. I just got off the DL website. It's very in-depth. Check it out at www.mustangfanpage.com. Go to this site for coaches' pics: http://www.mustangfanpage.com/roster.htm. Somebody has a whole lot of time on their hands to do such a site. Probably an obsessed dad. I did find a few corrections, but still can't determine who coaches what position. The Tayler guys name is actually Tim, not Tom, not Todd. I wonder if it's the saem guy who used to be the head coach at Sequatchie County? And Tyler is their trainer. I bet a lot of people get those two guys confused. Their names are a lot alike and they look similar too. Tilghman's first name is actually Scott. Spencer is an old RB from Paducah, KY. Sorry about the mistake, Scott. I was right though, he's a healthy lad. He'd be a good line coach. He now gets my vote for best in the mid-south. I told you Temple was a Spurrier wanna be. Go look at that pretty boy's pic. I bet the teenage girls are all over Coach Stewart. He look slike a young Italian Stallion. There must be something in the water at DL. Something that makes the hair fall out that is. Edwards, Green, Tayler and Polk all have a whole lot of forehead. Is Elrod the guy I always see during the Titans games? Is he also their team doctor? Every time on turn on the game I see this guy's butt sticking up in the air as he bends over to check on a player. My girlfriend thinks he has a cute butt, but I don't look at stuff like that. The pic of McAdams is a good one. He looks like he's been rode hard and put up wet. That's a horse riding term for all you DL city boys. You probably don't even know the good old football terms of "The hay's in the barn."
  21. For some reason I just can't stop my investigative reporting on this thread. You'd think I have nothing to do! I think it was Tilghman that turned down Alabama and not Toyler. Tilghman is an Albama boy from weigh back. I still dont know who he is for sure, but I think he's the one that's well fed (saw him on CSS), but not as well fed as McAdams! A friend of mine who is in with the "DL network" has been monitoring this thread and tells me alot of this info is not true (I think he's either trapped or tackle but he won't tell me! but I'll figure you out sooner or later!). McAdams is only 55 or so and not mid-60's. Could've fooled me. City life must be hard on a man. Also, he wasn't a QB in high school. He was a nose guard. Should've known after seeing the gut! Again, kidding. He is a classy man. He has a motto for the kids that says something like "Aptitude, Work, Hit, Prepare, Courage" (AWHPC) - they have those letters on the stickers on thier helmets. Also, Temple dosn't even coach the O-line at the MS level. Should've known. Anyone who struts around on the sideline like the next Steve Spurrier can't be an O-line coach. I know Temple pretty well so I can say that. He coaches the QB's and DB's. ANd no, Toyler didn't play line in high school. He was a great free safety at Roosevelt High in Mississippi. Was all county his senior year. Would absoultely knock your head off. They say his calves are huge. Would've played in college, but Freed-Hardeman woudln;t field a team. But I'm not sure this makes him any less qualified to be a line coach. Do you have to be a historian to be a good history teacher? Do you have to have been a pro kickball player to teach elementary PE? Rhetorical, so please don't answer.
  22. Raider, I think his name is Spencer Tilghman and not Steve. Regardless, you are on to something. I too heard that Tilghman is a very good O-line coach. I know for a fact he has climbed the ladder at DL very rapidly. He went from working w/ Temple at the MS level to freshman to varsity all within a very small window of time. One of their former players told Temple that Tilghman was the brains of the outfit and Tyler would constantly consult him for advice and information and even blockinh rules. He said all Tyler does well is yell (He mentioned a funny story about them "taking it up the tail pipe" after a loss to SMith Co.). But all this is hearsay. I don't know Tilghman. I wouldn't know the guy if he walked in and gave me a bear hug. For that matter, I don't know Tyler. I'm sure they're both good men. There seems to be some talk about McAdam's retirement? Shouldn't he have retired years ago. I mean he's a good coach and all, but he's pretty old, isn't he? I saw him on TV of the DL/Goodpasture game a few weeks back and he looks like he's in his mid-60's. I gues those private schools don;t have the good retirement plans like the public schools. And from looking at his huge belly he might be spending it all on food! Just kidding. Every dealing I've ever had with McAdams has been a good one. He teaches class to those kids. From what I hear about Tilghman maybe he replaces the old man.
  23. milan and lipscomb would not meet until the bc bowl.
  24. The country boys are gonna seek some revenge on the preppy, city boys. SP hasn't forgotten last year. SP by a mile. And neither are gonna beat Cloudland. But all will lose to the alphabet schools from the west. Perhaps we need a s*%$t.
  25. Most contracts are for two years and not four. Regardless, most decent teams are just happy to get 10 games w/o having to schedule world-beaters. My pick is Hunt. in a squeaker.
