  1. Also, I hear he's running track too. When does golf season start? You never know.
  2. OK King, you convinced me to go ahead and join now. I figured I might regret it if I didn't. How much are membership dues, cause you know your gonna have to make some t-shirts now? heck, you might even get to be his lawyer when he's in the league. 3. CMoore, Don't you hate that feeling you get in your stomach when you know you have made a complete A%@ out of yourself cause you ran your mouth a little too much? If I am seeing correctly (and that could be a big "if" sometimes) Lamon dropped a solid 10 off the bench last night, including a pretty NASTY dunk. Last year was just a preview of what could happen with this kid in football, so there is no need to talk about that seeing as how he still has 2 years left. Also, if you're boys Chantz Scott and Anthony Barcel could drop 175 yards against Riverdale COMBINED, they might earn a little of people's respect. Now as far as the Kingsport vs. Johnson City talent deal, I can only think of one saying my grandmother used to tell me. "If if's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas." You DON'T beat DB in football(enough said), basketball aint lookin so good for ya, and Coach Clark sure as heck aint going to Science Hill! Ya'll should probably just concentrate on winning right now, and then start worrying how talented your boys are. Also, find a coach. Sorry to rail you so hard man, but you have been saying some kinda ridiculous stuff. "The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital." Coach "Pa" Paterno
  4. Congratulations to Will Healy. I saw him play in the state championship game, and he looks like a class act. Just one more bit of info. Healy will be playing alongside Jacob McMillin of Dobyns-Bennett at the Academy. He signed his papers on signing day, so best of luck to both of them.
  5. Nice guess BUD, but I was gonna go with Sullivan North. Oh wait, same difference!

    BEST WR IN STATE?

Man, its Science Hill. We don't care how many yards he had against you last year because the same thing happened that always will, we won. Nobody cares about what happened in the game last year including Lamon. I'd say he just remembers playing in the semis against Riverdale, not beating ole' Science Hill as usual.
  7. wsp, It has become very obvious to me that you are putting your foot in your mouth as you post and then respond to Surf4Life. Now this is coming from a FORMER Dobyns-Bennett Indian, so don't think I am ganging up on you in any way, but is it relevant at all whether or not Surf4Life is still in high school. I am in college but guess what, not only do I still follow high school athletics, I plan on coaching them when out of college. I was unaware of any rules prohibiting former athletes (or even students for that matter) from following their team even though they don't attend school there anymore. Come on man, if you're gonna rail on somebody, at least do it over something that makes sense. Peace
  8. At the end of last season, everyone seemed to think that the QB for this year would be an upcoming junior named Duran Ferguson. He is about 6'1" or 6'2" and weighs about 220. He is not the fastest kid in the world, but I have seen him throw and he has an absolute cannon for an arm. That is the last I heard, and I have heard nothing about Chucky Lindholm tranferring into town. It definitely would not be a bad move on his part seeing as how he is an incredible athlete. If that happened, then who knows, but I do know that this Ferguson kid can sling a football and we'll see how he handles it if he is the new QB a Dobyns-Bennett. That's all I know.

    BEST WR IN STATE?

I defintely agree with the pick of Lamon Williams as the best receiver in the state. You have to see this kid in person to realize how good he is. Even against Riverdale last year, he was in a league of his own out there. One word describes him, NASTY.
  10. One of the toughest places to win in the entire state has to be J. Fred Johnson Stadium at Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett. The Indians just hardly ever lose there, plus it is very intimidating to the other team. They normally aren't used to seeing a crowd that big, a band that big, a team that good, and all of the other pageantry that takes place on a Friday night in Kingsport. J. Fred is definitely a hard place to win, just ask DB's opponents
  11. The best player ever to come out of Dobyns-Bennett is a very hard choice, so take your pick. The two that automatically come to mind are Bobby Dodd and Bobby Cifers. Now that's a pretty hard choice. Both played college and pro ball. Dodd went on to have Georgia Tech's stadium named after him and Cifers went to UT was all world. Some other people to choose from would be Mike Faulkerson-Delaney(played at UNC and then with several pro teams), possibly Jeremy Graves, Adonis Johnson, and several other kids who were great high school players. Tribe fans, let me know what you think.
  12. Thanks guys, I've got some names now. If you hear anything else, please let me know. [Edited by TRIBE1 on 2-11-03 6:35P]
  13. I am an English and Secondary Education major at UT right now and I am desperately wanting to VOLUNTEER coach with a high school program in the area. My only vision of a job has been to teach, coach, and make a difference in kids' lives. I started for 2 years at outside linebacker for Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, and got by on heart and smarts as I was a little undersized, but I consider my knowledge of the game as a whole respectable. I considered playing college football, but of the schools who gave me a look, none of them were what I was looking for plus there is absolutely nothing like high school football. I will also be staying in Knoxville this summer so I could help then also. If there are any schools or coaches in the Knoxville area looking for a volunteer coach who loves to bring emotion to the game and wants to get involved now then please respond to this post and give me some contact information. I will respond immediately. Thanks
  14. CoachT, thank you for helping me out. I am dying to get started coaching before I graduate so if you hear anything else then please let me know. Thanks again
  15. I am a student at UT and a former player a Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport, and I am majoring in English and Secondary Education. My only vision of a job has been to teach high school, coach, and make a difference in some kids' lives. I am desperately wanting to VOLUNTEER coach with a team in the Knoxville area next season and I will be in Knoxville this summer, so I could help out then also. I played linebacker in high school, and got by on smarts and heart as I was undersized, but I think my knowledge of the game is respectable. If anyone knows of a team or a coach that would like a young guy who loves to bring emotion to the game to volunteer coach with them next year the PLEASE respond to this post and leave some contact information and I will respond immediately. Thanks
  16. I was just wanting to get some input as to who everyone thinks will be the best receiver in the state of TN next year. One that obviously stands out to me being a former Dobyns-Bennett Indian is Lamon Williams. If nobody believed that this kid is for real last season, I'd say that they do now after he recieved sophomore All-American honors this year. He is 6'3" and close to 190 lbs. with speed to go along(his strides are inbelievably long). His numbers this year were out of this world but he will draw a lot of attention next year, so we will see what he's made of then. I know Science Hill had a pretty good receiver last year named Chantz Scott but I don't know what year he is. What about middle and west TN, who will they have? Let me know who you think will be the man next year. Peace.

    shutout d

Darrell Watson will always bring a great defense to the table at Dobyns-Bennett. He is undoubtedly the best D-Coordinator in the state with the second best being Zane Vance, the linebackers coach. Dobyns-Bennett's defense is always top notch and will be once again next year I'm sure.
  18. If he's actually moving to Kinsport itself then he will be going to DB. DB is the only Kingsport City school, but there are 3 county schools right around it. I imagine that he would go to DB and am looking forward to seeing the kid. Welcome to the TRIBE!
  19. There was some great basketball on day 1, and I came home knowing one thing. Lee Humphrey is the real deal, and that is coming from a D-B fan. He can do it all.

    AP All-State

CMoore2, Your boy Chantz Scott didn't lead the conference in recieving, sorry. Lamon Williams has 1,127 yards on the year, and if my eyes didn't fail me that night, 175 of them were against a pretty decent football team named RIVERDALE in the state SEMI-FINALS.(you boys wouldn't know anything about the semis) Sorry man, Chantz Scott is a good reciever and yes he is white and Lamon is black, but I don't think race has anything to do with it, obviously neither do the people who picked ALL 3 All-State teams. Ny the way, isn't it basketball season in J.C. One

    AP All-State

How bout Lamon Williams making All-State as a sophomore. 1,127 yards is unheard of for a sophomore reciever, especially at DB. The sky is the limit for this kid. Not to dog him in any way because he is a great player, but I'm not sure if McMillan was first team material this year.(Played a little too much for himself and not the team) Oh well, congrats to the entire all-state team.
  22. I havn't had a chance to talk to him yet, but some have said he has changed his mind about his "better" sport basketball and will play. If so, everybody will have to hear the name Lamon Williams all year long, not just during football season. I have a hunch that he won't play, but if he does, then right there is your best sophomore in east TN.
  23. Jason, You might want to update those stats. Lamon was sittin' at 900 and some yards on 40 some odd catches. He dropped 168 on 7 catches against Riverdale, so its time for an update. Their is no way he shouldn't be on the team.
  24. Lamon Williams from DB has to be included on the All-State team. The kid is a sophomore, and quite easily could be the best reciever in the state. (ask Riverdale, he about beat them by himself) Clark always puts him a couple on the team, and this is the man for this year and two more. Peace.
