As a rising senior at Vandy, I'd first like to congratulate Roger for handling this disappointment so admirably. This shouldn't turn into a discussion of his test scores, but a 27 ACT would have been in the bottom 25% of the previous incoming class... Vanderbilt Freshman Profile ...and college admissions is only getting more competitive. That said, it sounds like Roger would have been a great addition to Vanderbilt's campus. He has a lot going for him, and I hope he doesn't let this difficulty get him down. Hang in there, Roger. I hope you find a place in the classroom and on the field at Vandy in 2006.

Do BGA/MBA play today (and, if so, when)? Where is the tourney being held? Thanks.

If I recall correctly, the school was originally located in TN, but then moved to a new campus that was just across the border. They asked to retain their membership in the TSSAA and were allowed to do so. I remember this coming up when they won the Clinic Bowl two years ago, so my memory may be a little fuzzy, but that's how it stuck with me.

"Nashville Battle Ground Academy 14, Bishop Byrne 14 at BGA -- After playing deadlocked for four quarters, both teams decided not to play in overtime because it was a non-region game. Bishop Byrne had two goal line stands in the second half that resulted in no BGA points. Martin Yates picked off a pass and returned it 48 yards for a Bishop Byrne score." Link (again)

Story from Memphis not quite the same: Fifth Game Down (registration required) Personally, as a BGA alum, I'm really struggling to understand this version, if it's true. 0-6, looking for our first (and possibly only) win of the season, and we're going to agree not to play OT?! I sure hope not.
