  1. I hear they are extrmemely fast, that's about it. But I do know that anyone who beats Memphis East twice is a great team. --Joe Kemple
  2. Um, they can. I'm sure CPA can, as well. I'm sure CPA, Ezell, USJ could at least hang with ALL 1A - 3A teams. Yes, even Trousdale. CPA beat Gattinburg-Pittman earlier in the year by an insane margin, moreso than Sweetwater and Fulton (3rd Round playoff game). Obviously, the top-crop in 4A/5A would destroy these teams, but I don't ever recall when Ezell was chanting about destroying the 5A squads. Well, maybe Heritage. --Joe Kemple
  3. Not in the past, but what about the QB from MUS this year? Isn't he supposed to be, um, great and stuff? --Joe Kemple
  4. They didn't get respect because here's why: Private Div II is a joke A itself is a joke, as you can see by the state championship. AA only really has 3 or 4 competitive teams. AAA was fun to watch develop this year, but with only 6 teams in competition (Yes, I said 6. And I said competition. So Father Ryan doesn't count...not this year, anyway), it's pretty lame. Now, I'm sure the game was pretty good. And I would've loved to see it. Great atmosphere. AND it's obvious that Div 2 probably has the best talent/coaches (in the higher levels) that you can find in TN. But many don't find it as exciting compared to Div I with it's 100s of teams. Plus, you have to think of the people that actually buy papers. What's going to capture people's eye more? Ezell Harding losing might be more of a shock to the average Joe (not me!) than MBA beating BA in a championship game again. Although I do agree that page 5 and crap picture is a little overdoing it. And just a comment, nothing to really debate about (so please don't move it from this board). If there is a complete split, I'm sure Div 2 will get WAY more exciting, which will produce more coverage. MBA/Lipscomb match ups? USJ and Goodpasture? Neat-o. --Joe Kemple
  5. Wasn't this a preseason scrimamge, with Harriman being the winner? I believe so. --Joe Kemple
  6. One guy threw up on me, even. I was like, "Hey pal, take it outside." And he goes, "But we are outside. What are you talking about?" I just stood there, dumbfounded. But really, most people know that winning a game gains respect, but I believe losing one under these circumstances would probably gain an equal amount, as well. We had our chances, but couldn't capitalize. However, even after the game I didn't feel as if we went out on a sour note. Not by a longshot. Expect a big transition next year for Greenback. Chris, sorry you won't be on the field with us next year. That goes for the rest of the seniors, as well. Hopefully, people will be good enough to step up and take your place. Tough spots to fill. --Joe Kemple
  7. I'll take a trip to Maryville, just cause it's closer than Chattanooga from Greenback However, I will be rooting hard for Cloudland. Isn't it weird how all these teams have that Blount Co. Aura about them? Cloudland stretches all the way to Roan Mt, Greenback is in Loudon Co, and Sweetwater is in Monroe, but they are all closely tied in with one another. --Joe Kemple
  8. Not playing Fulton helps, also. --Joe Kemple
  9. I hope CLoudland wins in 1A, but I just don't see it happening. My original runner-up prediction before the season began (CPA) will probably take it. In 2A...Is T.J. Brock playing? If not, Dave Lipscomb has too much talent, and takes it. Well, if he plays, they probably won't win, either. Want them too, but Lipscomb is very improved. Tyner was excellent, Goodpasture was great. 3A, I think Fulton loses to Trousdale if it is a muddy field. If not, Trousdale is the loser, but Crockett County still beats whoever. 4A MAryville beats Melrose. Pretty simple. MAryville started their run beating a Memphis-based team with much of their current starters as freshman and sophomores, and will end that run beating another Memphis-based team with msot of those same starters now seniors. 5A ...At the beginning, before the season even started, I predicted Brentwood would make it far, and win with Riverale being the runner up. I won't change my prediction, even though I'm allowed to. Germantown is loaded, but Brentwood is battle-tested, moreso than the town of Germans. Riverdale could lose to a greatly improved DB team, but, well, probably not. Never know! Brentwood wins state over Riverdale. Note: All my predictions will probably be way off, as this playoff year has been very surprising. --Joe Kemple
  10. Ron, I'm heading up to Maryville this Friday, I assume. Would love to go down to Chattanooga, but that's a little far. I'll see what I can do, but I doubt I'll be making the trip. Cloudland, please beat Boyd. I'd love to see a public back in it, and I think you all would match up better with CPA/USJ than Ezell. Boyd will be tough, and I think you all can get it done. --Joe Kemple
  11. Speaking of Greenback/Gordonsville, I believe they are scheduled to play in the 2003 season, but I'm not for sure. --Joe Kemple
  12. Well, I think Greenback can be classified as a "good" team. Okay, so maybe I'm ultra-mega extremely biased, but trying to view this as an outsider, I might think, "Hmm, they are way better than average teams, so they must be good!" --Joe Kemple
  13. Hang in there Greeneville! Oh, and nothing to really do with the game...but yuck. What a lame time to have a high school football game. Not knocking the game itself, just the time of day. Cold, bright sunny Saturday? It just doesn't compare to a dark, cold, Friday night! I'm sure both teams believe it's huge (as they should), but it's just weird, folks. --Joe Kemple
  14. The game is over, as is Greenback's season. But ask anyone, and you'll understand that this was a true game. Cloudland players and fans: Class act people, class act team. Byrd is a great athlete, but the whole team showed their skill. I'm glad we got to shake hands after the game this time (for those of you who remember last season). Nice to meet you, both EastTN and Pujo. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I haven't seen that big of a crowd at Cooper Field in, well, forever. Greenback fans: Thank you for your support. All of the above can probably be applied, and more. We have the best fans, and the best place to watch a game. Thanks to everyone involved. The game itself I was glad to be a part of. High intensity, very physicial. Regrets? No. this is one season where there were no ifs, ands, or buts about it--we were a great team. There could've been a few mistakes we could've done without throughout the season, but the defense played great, the line did great, Austin (QB), the backs, and the receivers all played excellent. Cloudland is good, though, and stuck it to us early. The best for last? The seniors of Greenback. Thanks. Thanks for being leaders. For doing the best possible. Sean Evans, Adam Jackson, Chris Downey, Josh Shelton, Dustin Franklin, Matt Ervin, Blake Hawkins, Brian Kelso, Brian Brisson, Lee Stephens, and Jeremy Evans. Thanks. Thanks Coaches. We'll be back next year. Probably facing Cloudland. haha Any remarks? --Joe Kemple
  15. Yeah, you're pretty close to the action. I love the dawg pound, to be honest. It doesn't really bother me any, due to the fact that I don't play much (hah!) but hey, they will hopefully provide some comic relief for what seems to be a pretty serious game. --Joe Kemple
  16. It will come down to line play. If Greenback can stop Cloudland's big D-Line, and sustain drives, they will win. If not, then I'm off to the basketball board! But really. Greenback doesn't have the biggest line, and the guys up front know this. But we've been thriving on technique. Offensively, Cloudland may end up getting a 40, 50 yard run for a TD, and Greenback may end up getting a 40, 50 yard TD pass. That's probably how it's going to go. But whoever wins in Off/Def line play, turnovers, will probably win. Greenback also has an advantage of a sound kicking game. All in all, I have faith in the hogmollies up front, and if they can at least give a few seconds for Austin to throw, we've got it. Conditioning helps, too. Greenback is a slim winner (am I gonna say otherwise?). --Joe Kemple
  17. Parking doesn't cost any money, I believe, and the good part is, you can park pretty much anywhere. They'd probably let you park on the football field if there wasn't, say, football going on. "Yeah, sure, park there, in that big open space." But I know for a fact you can park on top of buildings. They set you up a ramp, and ZAM! You're on top of a building. haha, but really. For this game, they may end up having to expand to the baseball field. Sorry Hack. haha --Joe Kemple
  18. haha, Jerkovich. Man, I'm easily amused. I still love the guy who said, "Cloudland is going to give Greenback the byrd", and the guy who said his favorite pump-up song was happy-birthday. Vintage, folks. --Joe Kemple
  19. Proud Mary, by CCR, rocks pretty hard. Those songs that kind of make you insane by keeping to yourself rock, too. Simple Man, Tuesday's Gone, Skynyrd. If you go in the underdog, (I cant get no) Satisfaction, by the Rolling Stones rocks. At least, it makes sense, anyway. I dunno. However, Morris Day and the Time, Jungle Love? Rizzock. --Joe Kemple [Edited by MakoRevised on 11-18-02 7:32P]
  20. Hey, I'm on there! NEAT-O! It should be an excellent game. Too bad you're going to the Ezell/CPA game. Or did you change your mind? --Joe Kemple
  21. We'll be glad to have you, Underwood. Marion Co. is a class act of a team, we had a great srimmage against them during pre-season camp. Hopefully, all that work will pay off. --Joe Kemple
  22. I think due to a lack of respect to players and staff, this thread should be locked up. --Joe Kemple
  23. Forget the game for a second, gentlemen. Let's tone down the moronic word usage, shall we? Huckleberry? Box of bullets? My, oh my. --Joe Kemple
  24. haha, "the byrd". --Joe Kemple

I think Mike has been out for the entire season, hasn't he? But really, whoever wins, math would say that it's going to be close. Defense will be the name of the game come Friday. You know, those things that folks take for granted (Turnovers, Big plays, etc), as there are usually minor things you have to do to prevent them. With Cloudland being off the Mountain and into the Valley, these things could make the difference in determining the outcome. --Joe Kemple
