  1. Congratulations Mr. Herndon!!! Anyone who has faced Roger knows how deserving he is for Mr Football 2004. No controversy in any way here... I think he would look just fabulous wearing PURPLE & GOLD - the education is better up on the plateau anyway...
  2. Just making sure...Is this stadium easy to find off of Early Maxwell Blvd? Or do I need more specific directions? Maybe if the crowd is big enough we can move it to the Liberty Bowl? Also, I say we all just stay in Tunica! GO Greenbrier! War Bobcats!
  3. GO TECH!!! TTU, I believe, is on the steady upswing in all of athletics. The hiring of a full-time AD is a tremendous step towards getting more fan/alumni support, better facilities, etc. Good luck to this young man, keep working hard, and my advice in regarding playing in college is simple: be patient!
  4. Aldridge (Greenbrier QB, #10) played a courageous, tremendous game as did #12, just how G'Brier has made it this far, a total team effort. You could definitely see how they "laid it all on the field" after the game. Both teams, I thought, showed complete sportsmanship throughout the game; glad GB got it done...Heal up Greenbrier!

When your league has Appy St., Furman, Georgia Southern, and Wofford, its pretty tough to beat those guys. The SoCo is very tough. UTC is (or has been of late) in the bottom of their league, however. The OVC has not fared well out of conference, I admit...As for this thread on recruiting, I would love to see more Tenn. players, think they appreciate the OVC more as far as knowing rivalries, etc., but the best high school talent, far and away, comes from FLA and GA in the Southeast - as far as quality teamed with quantity.

TTU should be in the top 25 at year's end - only a fumble away from a conference champ. this year. TTU has a bit more players from Tenn. than year's past. Ive always heard that the simple reason that there aren't more players from TN is strictly volume. There are simply more kids playing football in GA, ALA, and FLA. A lot of recruiting comes from former players who coach, teach, and live in those "fertile recruiting areas." I believe there are great players in the state, but the competition suffers with less players (simply a population issue, I think). But, Ive seen tons of kids who were unbelievable at the high school level, just cannot make the transition to the collegiate level. I think some players are build up too high, and get everyone dissappointed when they don't go to college to play football. I also think people underestimate how good the talent level is at OVC-type schools. A lot of kids slip through the cracks, too, but most are undersized or lack speed for the college game - I wish kids could get by just with heart and determination/work ethic, but that's not reality sometimes. Just an opinion, thanks!
  7. In case anyone is interested...Greenbrier alum, Curt Williams, had a nice kickoff return in TN Tech's win Saturday to go along with another special teams tackle, getting significant special teams duty for the Golden Eagles. Also, Marshall Co. alum, Anthony James, is looking great for the #1 defense in the OVC! Good luck to both schools this Friday and both players Saturday!
  8. Congratulations to my alma mater!!! I hope some of the players and coaches see these posts and know that even if the alumni cannot get to the games, we still follow the team all year and are very proud of how they represent the school and community. Football has not been very successful at LC, for reasons I won't get into, but its great to see LC end on a positive note against a tough Creekwood team. Creekwood plays in a devil of a region as does LC. I personally cannot believe both schools weren't in the playoffs - another reason why I think the playoff system is skewed....GO WILDCATS! Thanks, guys!
  9. Thanks! GO Tech! I have seen Garza play twice and he is every bit as good as they say, a very, very good athlete. But, I don't know anything about TTU's recruiting. Also, just kidding about UTM - hope they do beat SEMO! I think Fairview has a couple of kids that may get to play at the next level, maybe not D-I or even I-AA (but what do I know?) but that shouldn't matter if they really want to play. Does Cheatham or Fairview have any kids playing college football right now? I know they've both been fairly successful recently, and I see a lot of size and speed for both schools. Should be fun. GOOD LUCK.
  10. Haven't seen Cheatham Co. play, but like the way Fairview plays, with good size up front and speed at the skill positions. Special teams could be the difference, and Fairview has good specialists. Here's hoping Fairview "gets the ring." By the way, UTM gets throttled on the road by SEMO - TTU is rolling in the OVC if anyone cares (yeah, I know.) Good Luck 'Jackets!
  11. As far as needing quality per quantities of play, people will laugh, but it has to be placekicker as the toughest position to play. Think about it, how many high school games do you see kickers do their job WELL? It's really not just about getting the ball through the sticks, its timing, height, ball rotation, and accuracy. The pressure thing is way overrated in my book, for what its worth. This, of course, relies on quality snapper/holder/line. This being said, Im not going to sit here and say its the most important position, just the toughest to do WELL per opportunity. Simply an opinion.
  12. I hear the Greenbrier program has access to a physical rehab program that is exceptional, so I think the injured players will return ASAP. Good luck 'Cats! Greenbrier over White HOuse Springfield over Lipscomb E.Rob over Cheatham Co. TTU OVER Murray St.
