  1. Tennessee Sports Radio Network and Mirror-Exchange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. The Milan Mirror-Exchange is thinking about making CDs for all the senior baseball players with a bunch of pictures on it later on at little or no cost.
  3. Congrats to Grundy County for being the second best team in the state. I have no doubt that the championship was played for on Thursday morning. In regards to the 1st baseman (Melton?), it appeared that he consistently tripped runners. I understand his frustration, though. As a member of the media, I had decent access to the field and had a very close look through a telephoto lens. Just calling it as I saw it, the first baseman did stick a foot out. It's not my place to say if it was intentional or not, but he certainly was making some illegal plays. Finally, the 3rd base umpire gave Grundy a team warning for all the fouls. That being said, Milan was not exempt; the malicious slide at 2nd did occur, but again I don't know if it was intentional. I did not see West elbow the guy on the third base line. I also didn't see any contact (other than incidental) between #4 and Ramsey. In such an emotion-charged game, both teams are likely to get somewhat physical and aggressive. It's what happens when you pit the two best teams in the state against each other. It's also odd that Milan people thought the 1st base umpire was giving bad calls. Anyway, congratulations to both teams on outstanding seasons and even more congratulations for their sportsmanship.
  4. The question is, will the Milan Quarterback Club rent the baseball team a spot in the trophy case at MHS?! Congrats Dawgs on being known for something other than football, not taking anything away from the gridiron. Just go out to Bulldog Field and have a look at the record board; you guys have come a long way. And congratulations on beating out the cheerleading scandal for the headline in next week's paper, plus 4 more pages of Spring Fling. What a season
  5. No doubt about it; if you're scared, say you're scared! LIKE A WILDFAR
  6. Yeah it would be great to rotate Spring Fling, but like sls said, the TSSAA is utterly corrupt and cares only about money. It's time to get the organization to focus on the kids instead of on the cash flow. Until a tournament in Nashville or Knoxville is profitable, brace yourself for the Memphis/Shelby County Sports Authority to run it.
  7. Absolutely an outstanding performance at AutoZone park and without a single ER all tournament. Yes, the pitching has been excellent, the batting good, but the defense did a fantastic job shutting everyone else down. Milan looked sharp today as they plow through to win number 41 this season.
  8. AA will be very strong next year. Look for Lipscomb, Covington, and Milan again to fare extremely well. Of course, Farragut will conquer all.
  9. YES! I thought the dogs could bring it home all along, just was concerned about their focus and composure. They took care of business at AutoZone to squash Covington, especially in the 2nd. Great job, guys.
  10. The 8 team format is a good idea....but I don't like the idea that there are two independent brackets. There should be just one loser's bracket and not two entirely separate ones. Also, I don't like the fact that the championship game is single elimination when the rest of the tournament is double. What if a team with a loss in the tournament comes in and beats a team with none? That doesn't seem too fair.
  11. By the way, does anybody know what a "wildfar" is? To us in illiterate, uneducated west Tennessee, we do not know this complex vocabulary word. It's not in the dictionary, even though I saw several people with "wildfar" shirts on at the AA state quarterfinals in Millington.
  12. sls, are you sure about the championship being at 5PM on Thursday if both teams take sweeps? I'm pretty sure that the two bracket winners will play on Friday no matter what. The 5PM and 7:00PM "TBA" games will be played at Millington, if they are necessary. I think that they will only apply to their respective brackets, and not the tournament as a whole. I'm not 100% certain, but I think that's the way the TSSAA planned it. It's not a good system, I might add.
  13. Just like we thought, it was a squeaker for the Milan / Grundy game. Milan pulled it off 2-1, but Grundy's ace pitcher Toby Woodlee, whom they saved for the Milan game, tied a TSSAA record for K's in a tournament with 16. Somehow, Milan managed 7 hits. Now Milan will play against Grundy again on Thursday's semifinal game. This will be interesting. Very interesting. Some interesting things are happening in the bottom bracket as well. If DL wins two more they may be in the tournament, but at great cost to their bullpen.
  14. jakej, I can't believe you were on coacht 9 minutes before your team left for the spring fling. good luck anyway.
  15. Milan is the district 11AA champion as well as the region 6AA champion. If Milan wins against Dyer County on Tuesday (10 AM), then they will play against Grundy Co. (provided they win) at 7 PM. That will be a joy to watch!
  16. rkf, you are living in a dream world. There is NO WAY the Memphis teams will slaughter the "rural" west TN teams this week, especially in 2A. The only team to win from 2A is Carver. Milan will not go down easy this week.
  17. Not even close. This may be the last easy one, so 2nd string goes in after halftime. What a slaughter fest. Milan 60 Westwood 13. Look at what they did to Manassas and what we did to Manassas. This could be a close game for a minute or so.
  18. Rod certainly has what it takes to play somewhere in Division I. He may not play where he's used to play, but I think he will be successful. He really showed how powerful he was at Covington. Definitely the MVP there.
  19. OK, its got to be the Milan at Crockett County game of a few years ago. Milan won on a two-point conversion in the last seconds, 29-28.
  20. Probably Treadwell in the 1st round, then perhaps a rematch with Mitchell at Johnnie Hale. I'm looking forward to going to Hohenwald to defeat Lewis County.
  21. Yes, you will have homefield advantage. But that means NOTHING against an amzingly eplosive Milan team, provided both teams win through the playoffs. That game could get close, but we saw how Milan held up at a hostile Covington venue. Milan should watch out for Lewis Co's Mr. Football candidate, and Lewis County must be leary of an excellent, well-rounded Milan team.
  22. That's right. Milan has clinched the region title and homefield advantage. Good work, Milan. Humboldt has been preparing for this one all season long. In fact, there was even a minor confrontation between the two teams on Wednesday. Humboldt has nothing to lose, so they will pull out the stops. Nevertheless, the Bulldogs will sink these Vikings early, with the 1-2-3 punch of power running, crushing defense, and inpenetrable passing. It could get ugly for Humboldt on this Halloween matchup. 60-13 Milan
