It's a shame to hear that, Pujo. What I see at Cloudland is laziness, lack of interest, and lack of character. Kids would rather smoke dope and party than strive for a purpose. It was the same way when I played. Only me and park rangers son dedicated ourselves to the weight room. I was obsessed with the state title. The other idiots didn't give a crap. Some people on this board say I have no morals or class because I post things like this, but its the truth. Our fans need to open their eyes and see why we really don't win state titles. We had a great run the last four years, but could've won the state 10 years ago. The way of champions is the way of pain. That means comittment 365 days a year. Our boys lay around and get fat all winter and then expect to contend for a title. Bull butter! It don't work that way. I would give anything if we had 11 guys who made a covenant to work their butt off from December to Aug. but I don't think we will ever see that. What a shame.

Cloudland will not be a state powerhouse, but should still win their region next year. Unaka will be second, Cosby third, North Greene fourth, and Jellico fifth. If the lineman get in the weight room, Cloudland should finish 6-4 with their only losses coming to Sullivan East, Cherokee, JJ Kelley, and Appalachia. They should beat Hampton and Rye Cove. I predict that they will lose in the first round to either Coalfield or Oneida. If they work hard this winter, they may prove me wrong. Its hard for a small school to reload after losing so many seniors the last 2 years. Roan Mt. is small: not too many players to choose from, but the future looks good. Watch out for Pujo's oldest boy, little Jerry. He's got Mark Byrd ability. He went undefeated in flag. That team reminds me of the team that Mark played on. We may have another future dynasty at Cloudland.

Anti-Lander, your immaturity reeks! Point differences against different teams don't mean a thing. I could say the same thing when Cloudland beat HV by 12 and Unaka only beat them by 2, but I'm not as dumb as you. Whoever comes to play ball that night in January will be victorious. This is a different game than football. Point differentials don't really come into play here. I suggest you all get them pudgy post players in shape, cause the Landers will bring it when they come to Snailey gym.

Mark Byrd is one of the top recruiting prospects in the state and very deserving of the award. Dane Christman is one of the greatest run stoppers I've ever seen, so he deserved the award as well. One bad game shouldn't take away their status as great players.

1-A Mr. Football, Mark Byrd will sorely be missed by the Cloudland Highlanders. This young man made this team go for the last four years. It will take quite a while for Cloudland to return to power, because of his absense.

Don't know much about Cosby. I heard they were pretty good, but I gotta go with my Landers by 3.

Krich, I think after Mark plays a couple of years of college ball, then you can make a judgement on whether he is better than Abney or not. Abney is a proven All-American. Mark will have to prove that he can play at that level, before a good judgement can be made. He really needs to get stronger. He can only bench 200 and deadlift 390. He does have all the capabilities in the world, and everyone around here would like to see him succeed, including myself. There is a lot of hard work ahead. If he keeps the good attitude, he will be okay.

The Lady Landers proved again why they will contend for the district title this year, despite losing 5 senior starters. Last night was a good display of teamwork. Arnold, Williams, and Lunsford combined for 40 pts. to lead the way. This sets the stage for a good matchup with Erwin, Tues. night. Unicoi is always good, so I hope the ladies continue to play as a team. Jv girls also won a tough one with Happy Valley. Both teams doing real well so far. Good job.

Thanks for the reply krichunaka. I have one more question. What position are most of these schools recruiting him for? Since I'm sitting behind Marks computer, the only thing I can tell you is he really likes Tusculum and Carson-Newman. Tusculum wants him as a reciever. Carson-Newman wants him as a QB because they run the option. He also has a trip planned for Louisville and maybe Duke. The boy hasn't made his mind up yet, but wherever he goes, he will be a real asset. I think he will put up big numbers as a return man. Seems to have a natural talent returning kicks.

I'm going to leave this alone before I get out of hand again. My real problem with Matt is in my first post. A few years ago, we didn't get along, but I have no hard feelings now. He did a pretty good job tonight against Happy Valley, so I'm hoping things will go well the rest of the year. If I could pick a coach for the Lady Landers, it would be his brother, Randy. Randy coached me, and brought the best out of me. But, I'll leave this one alone for now.
