  1. Okay BayouBear, I have to say that you being a Bradley guy and standing around talking at the end of the match to people of the Soddy team gives me no comfort that you are the guy to defend the move or lack of move. Sorry, but I don't see it. If you asked someone who coaches for the Soddy team, then share both the question you asked and the answer they gave. Otherwise, I appreciate your opinion on what you think may have been the reason for not sending someone out for the 160 match. Now, still a little off the subject,,,,,but do you mind telling me if you ever wrestled before >?
  2. gosh,,,those sour grapes must really make your mouth pucker.......yow.
  3. BayouBear, A little off the topic, but you have a ton of opinions out there and I just wondering If you ever wrestled before?
  4. Listen Bayou Bear, I think it is pretty clear what I have asked. I have been extreamly polite in doing it as well. I was wanting insight from any and all who want to offer it. Not some blind faith, the coach know best remark either. Any sheep can follow that line of thinking. I never pretend to be stupid on here. I also don't try to kiss up to someone with a name of Coach in front of their last name either. I am asking if there is some strategy out there that makes any sense. Several have commented on the momentum thing and I considered it and made a response. Some have said a class act or gentleman move on the part of the Soddy coach, I don't buy that either, but it could be true. I guess I was wondering, out loud, if it seemed to anyone else but little ole Texas23, that the white hanky was being waved. If someone came on here and said, no tex, there was an injury and they did not bring an alternate near that weight, then mystery is over. McCallie could have thrown in the towel based on their last match, but even they had their guy go for it against large odds of losing.
  5. I am not looking to take anything up with either coach. No disrespect is intended here either. It is just very unusual, in my opinion, to not go after a guy if you have a body and have a chance. The Soddy coach probably has an excellent reason for doing this. I just can not figure it out from what I see. He bumped the guy up to go 171 that had been on Gibson in the regular season match. There is just no nice, politically correct way to say this, but here it is. If you do not go out and wrestle, then you know the out come. I'll take a guess and say that Logsdon sends out a body in the same situation. Not an insult on Soddy, but that is how I believe it would have gone down if the tables were turned. Soddy may not have had a body to put in there, I do not know the answer to that question or how deep their team is. I have heard on this board that they have excellent participation in their program which makes me believe that they should have someone.
  6. tonka is just having some fun.......there really is not a crown,,,,,you guys know that right?
  7. cobarakid and botw, so your saying that coach Henry was raising the white flag at that time? It may be that way,,I really do not know. Here is my thoughts though: There is zero chance of winning the State Championship if you do not try, period. Cobra, your saying it is not a had point to grasp is not true. If you do not send out your guy, you know 100% what the outcome will be in regards to team points given up. Let's take the UI example. Dan Gable goes out to complete an undefeated career in college wrestling. Did his opponent go out and shake hands and try to defeat the impossible guy. He did. He won. Who knew? That is the reason that almost everyone on this board, including Best of the West, says it does not matter until we get to February. Now, also, Bradley sent out a freshman against one of the best talents in the sport today in Kyle James. As good as that freshman was, Kyle is the man. He still went out and gave the effort to beat that excellent talent from Soddy. Bradley send out Fuller to go against another talented foe from Soddy in Lane. You do not know unless you venture your guys out there. And finally, I believe that Kyle James went out last year in the duals against Science Hill and lost to a wrestler he gonna beat 99 times out of 100. Not on that day. I do not believe that Coach Henry is a gentleman when it comes to winning championships, I pretty sure Coach Logsdon is not either. So to say it was a gentelman's gesture to Gibson is a insult (IMO) to Coach Henry.
  8. the momentum thing is interesting, but if you give up the chance to win to try and cut down on the momentum, what is the point? I would understand that strategy in the pre match planning, but when your down to your last bullet, that is another issue. I wonder if Soddy had anyone to put out there, because a 6 point give sends up the white flag at that point in the match. i amnot being critical of Coach H. , I am just trying to understand this one.
  9. Your a good solider coach. However, I wanted to hear a strategy that might shed some light into not going out and trying to win a state championship. I just would like to know what some thoughts were on that move. You provided not one ounce of insight except for support of the decision with blind faith. Any insight from others?
  10. I am doing the math on the Bradley/Soddy Daisy championship match and it looks like (if I do the math correctly) that when Soddy does not put a wrestler out against Gibson, that they concede the championship. The 6 points at that time make it impossible for Soddy to come back, without a try. Any answers to that strategy?
  11. delaWarr, Excellent information. Here is what I know about those meetings at the TSSAA. The meetings are typically not attended very well at all by those that should have the most interest in the outcome of a proposal that they may have voted on. (I said typically, not all, so you guys save your posts of I was there once). I knew the answer that at the end of your post summed it up, you must follow up on the things that matter to your program. It is no different that the business world or the court system. Sending in a brief to the judge is not better than getting a hearing along with the motion. Questions and clarifacations can happen and issues can be influenced by those what are present. Again, Thanks for that well worded and informative post.
  12. well,,,I am glad we got that straight. But I am not sure why.
  13. delaWarr, thanks for your answer. That is the closest thing to what I was trying to understand. However, it still falls short of what I was looking for. Does the association, in some manner, communicate with the association members not just the status (i.e. no action taken for now) but also the reason why the particular voted for action was given that status (i.e. there were not enough board members to vote during that session, etc.) What seemed like a frustration with KKW aka coarch Masters, was the lack of understanding of why things were in that status. I could have misunderstoof his post, but as of this post his is still there and un-edited.
  14. BK, Believe it or not I really did not care about the particular issue (more teams in D1 duals). What I was trying to understand from either coach was, why is it that these two coaches (may be more I don't know) 1. why they are the only ones who can change things (jcu comment) or 2. if they do vote on some motion that no action is taken by the TSSAA, and they don't know why any action was not taken.(KKW comment). I am not sure what you mean by don't bring that thinking to D2? I do think I understand what you mean by the current climate in D1, actually as I write this I am not sure on that either. What do you mean by that?
  15. how many times has shawn done high school??
  16. I guess I take away from the answer is this, only Coach Henry knows what the process is to find out why a voted on action by the coaches was not moved on? Is that right? Other coaches do not know what or how things are handled in regards to this type of situation?
  17. KKW, Why is Coach Henry the one to ask this question?
  18. I saw Legman and his pack of bears doing the backstroke near Ooltewah on my way to work this morining. I think I saw BayouBear with floaties and a kick board bringing up the rear.
  19. KKW I brought this quote into this because JCU says that "we,as coaches, can change the state duals" If I just take what you posted and what this post says, I would be very frustrated with the lack of process that the TSSAA has in this particular subject. If it had been voted on before and the vote was in favor of change and no action was ever taken by the TSSAA. What kind of follow up is there from the coaches or their administrators (or AD's) to get some kind of read on the inaction of a motion that has passed? Just wondering.

  22. Botw,,,,I agree that Cleveland would beat those two teams from the east side, but the question was posed to which team that did not make it should. Gofish wanted an example and that was a very accurate one. BTW,,,Cleveland, in my opinion, would do some damage and most likely win against some of your beloved west teams as well, even this year.
  23. If that is the logic, which I agree with most of it, then Cleveland should be there more so than ...let's say Notre Dame and MUS. Also,,,the percentages of representation do not need to be equal, that is a weak argument. However, the number of teams could easily be argued for a higher number.
  24. I think Cleveland beat ND this year and it is not a typical year for them in talent. They may fit the "show me one great team" question. And they beat a team who is there in D2. just a thought.
