  1. I have to agree with the dude from cookeville on one thing. LA's district isn't as tough as Cookeville's. But look at the non district schedules. LA has CPA, Loudon (east TN preseason #7), Centennial, Independence, Cookeville, not to mention Jackson and Pickett Counties. They also play in the Lipscomb Christmas Tourney and the one at Ravenwood, where they'll be playin the likes of Haywood, Union City, Brentwood Academy, Independence, etc., plus the AAA schools at the Ravenwood tourney. To say that Dunn and LA play a weak schedule so he can score more sounds like something someone from Cookeville would say. By the way, what does Cookeville's non district schedule looke like? One more thing I gotta say....is there a worse host than Cookeville? Seems like they have some of the rudest fans and administration. Nothing personal, but like up2late said, it's like they are gracing everyone with their presence. With their numbers, shouldn't they dominate the upper cumberland? They usually have the largest and emptiest gym around. How nice of them to allow the visiting crowd to sit in one small roped off section, which then has to spill over to the home side, which is mostly empty because the student body sits on the visitors side. does that make sense to anyone???? Don't be dissin everyone else, please. And what's up with the crime scene tape on all the doors? Classy look. one more thing and i'm done, I promise. The only banners I see in Cookevilles gym are advertisements. That gym has more signs than interstate drive.There. I'm done.
  2. scoreboard says LA beat Loudon at Loudon 62-37. Wasn't Loudon ranked like 7 in east Tenn by prep extra?
  3. now lets not stretch him there king. Dunn is a HUGE 5'8 which makes what he does that much more amazing.
  4. I'll agree with upway2early. Pickett should be on top here. Whos gonna battle for second? My guess would be Clarkrange and Clay County.
  5. I think you are right. LA beat Dekalb in the district without Dunn. Remember he went out at the beginning of the second quarter with an ankle injury and never returned. I think these will be good games again. Like I said, LA takes nothing for granted. I think they will realize they have a huge target on there back.
  6. if you don't set high goals, how are you gonna get there right? you are right about 8AA dominating 7AA in years past, but are the tables beginning to turn? two years ago, not one 7aa team won a game in the region. I believe LA (7aa # 1) lost to eventual state semifinalist Goodpasture. Macon County, Upperman, and Dekalb barely got beat that night. Last year, 7aa's 6th place Smith County wound up second in the district tourney and won the first game of the region, then lost to WH in the semis by about 13, not too bad for regular season 6th place team. LA thumped a not very good DCA in the region quarters and lost a close one to Station Camp who had to come from behind to beat Dekalb at SC in the quarters. LA beat Station Camp at Christmas the year before that. Will it be easy? Of course not. Is it possible? Absolutely. Dunn is great, but definitely not the only player on LA's team. and when those guys come together, I believe the high hopes are justified. Lots of ball to played before then. Personally, I hope people go ahead and underestimate them. That will make it easier for the Cats.
  7. blunder, perhaps. I think LA went to Dekalb and pretty much spanked them. imagine that "dumb" coach being at LA for 2 years and winning the regular season district and district tournament both years, and last year did it with 3 upper classmen & 9 freshman and sophs. you'd better have more talent than LA cause you won't outwork them. I think they are more hungry than ever.THey also know how hard it is to win inthis district. I don't think they will overlook anyone.
  8. just wondering how everyone did at the play day
  9. LA played at Shelbyville today without guard Justin Poston(fractured ankle out 3-4 weeks). They lost to Gallatin 41-45 and beat Station Camp by about 20. Station Camp was without Jenkins and maybe a couple of football players. Both of these teams are gonna be hard to handle....Station Camp when football is over and everyone gets in sync, and LA when their young guys gain court time and Poston gets healthy.
  10. not questioning the illness, it's the use of the term chicken pots. i've never heard it called that before
  11. not sure what tj's number is but he's a soph this year and can shoot from anywhere. Dont think he played much last year. a couple more that could make a difference for LA I think are Justin Poston and Will Peterman. Neither played much last year but could surprise a lot of fans this year.
  12. it's hard not to get off topic after reading something like this......."chicken pots"?? seriously..."pots"
  13. How long has it been since Dekalb has won a district game? 8 years? If so isnt that like a 90 game losing streak? I wonder if that's a record. Surely they'll win one this year.
  14. all these are good ones. add TJ Smith from LA. you've probably not seen him much yet, but you will
  15. i guess anything is possible.....like the jump into you thing is the only thing dunn does....like he doesn't improve from season to season....i hope he can do more than the jump into you thing this year...imagine that a kid is as good as some say dunn is when the ONLY thing people need to do is "learn how to defend his pump fake and jumping into you thing he does". /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. Does the award go to the MVP of the entire district or to the person who means the most to his team? I think its the district's best player.
  17. Dunn is on rivals. his interest...ole miss, auburn, North Florida, Tennessee Tech, Miami (Ohio), & some others.
  18. They do work hard. Here's something to think about too. LA graduated only one player last year and will only lose two this year.
  19. Though summer camps mean little at this point, its nice to see which teams were competitive with each other, and Livingston Academy and Bolivar went to overtime at the McNairy camp. I think LA had a double digit lead at one time, but Bolivar won by 2 in OT.
  20. When it comes to district play, about anyone can beat anyone on a given night. That being said, I'd also have to put LA at the top. They are very deep this year and have talent at about every position. They also have way more experience than they did last year. ANd their non-district schedule looks murderous once again...Independence, Cookeville, Centennial, CPA, and some tough Christmas tounaments. Upperman, DeKalb, and York are always tough to beat, especially in their gyms. Isn't Upperman pretty young this year and they always get better as the season goes on. Losing bass will hurt Dekalb, but don't they also return most of last years players?
  21. Stealer, both Jenkins and Dunn are super players. If Chase is able to get any scholarship, whether its freed or a larger school, wouldn't that be great? However, Chase is getting quite a bit of D1 interest thrown his way. Why can't you be more positive?
  22. CPA at Livingston Academy November 17 in a HOF game.
