  1. Weather may play a role this Friday...80% chance of rain... Roll Tribe Roll
  2. Thanks for the homecoming wish, but believe me I have never and would never have been one to give Lamon that much credit...Duran did set a new school record for passing yards in a game in the playoff loss to Oak Ridge with Walker and Phillip and Matt and Purple (just to name 4) all had outstanding games catching the ball. Turnovers were the difference in that game. Not once did I claim the outcome would be different in the jv game, said could (4 touchdowns were scored in the freshman game by the players I mentioned), but, it could have been worse...I understand Bo had another great game throwing the ball and running the offense - could be that Coty, Andrew, and Josef would have dropped everything he threw their way...so, okay, I'm finished, we can agree to disagree and still enjoy homecoming 2004...and be proud of ALL the Indians. I am a loud supporter of all the Tribe, Thanks Roll Tribe Roll
  3. Chomp, Read what was said instead of looking for something to whine about...gave credit to both teams numerous times and have in numerous posts (some even before you found coacht)...check the stats from middle school games and the freshman game last year and then tell me that the players mentioned could not have made a difference...I said they could have made, not they would have...and I stand by that statement and make no apologies for it...you can't deny it to true...because it is a statement of historical ambiguity in relation to the respective sophmore classes of the two schools...I hate I didn't see the game, obviously a very good one; as others have said, I wish it had gone the other way, but congrats to Betsy's jv team...Do you want to deny the reference made to the North jv game and the subsequent rescheduling of the Indians by the Golden Raiders? Would you suppose the D-B jv team could have been better with Matt, Tyler, Lamon and others? Enjoy Homecoming Dogman & creeker67 The website that bud referred to earlier, tricitiessports.com, is a new venture owned and run by longtime Kpt Times-News sports director Ron Bliss and is probably our version of Double Play Sports and I am sure will have the attention of the paper's sports writers. Thanks for the info, I'll look fot DPS...I also remember fondly the SportsTalk paper Chip Kessler had out for a couple of years (I wrote a weekly column for Chip's Sportstalk). When he sold it, it went downhill fast. GLee, I too, am just a parent, so I can't schedule any games either nor can I play one on television, but I appreciate the info and will pass it along to those who can potentially do something with it...'cause it will depend on the day (both for game availability and the lace - thanks for asking). 4. Real D-B fans and players have nothing but respect for the Wildcats and I believe the reciprocal is true, as well...this should be an outstanding game, as usual...hope hurricane Frances is quiet by Friday... Roll Tribe Roll
  5. Spencer Gulmire (last years fullback) is the tailback for the Wildcats Roll Tribe Roll
  6. Yes, he was wearing a soft cast last week against Sullivan South, it's a wrist thing...Thank you for your response...do you want to blitz to increase the pressure or do you think the front four can get the job done?...final question (at least for tonight), do you look for more success on the ground or through the air against the D-B defense?...is that a change in scheme for your offense? Yeah I realize it was the final two questions - sorry... Roll Tribe Roll
  7. GLee, You all have canned the freshmen game against D-B, scheduled for the 30th...so I guess we wait for another year... Roll Tribe Roll
  8. Hey now, I like SatchUmp...and I think I understand most of what he says...don't I? BHSfootball, What should we count on from you guys? I know you won't tuck tail and run, but what do we look for?...three man front and 5 dbs?...had trouble against a real good running game last week - could be a real good passing game (that can run well, too) this week?...do you have to make big changes to your normal defensive sets and coverages...you offense did not do what you expected last week - what did West do?...or was it more what you all didn't do?...was it a good week of practice?...everyone healthy? I do wish you good luck Friday, I hope you have a good game, but I'm not pulling for you to win...I'm sure you understand...I appreciate your spirit and enthusiasm. Roll Tribe Roll
  9. Art, As of what I know now - just a bruised shin or two and a possible broken knuckle on the hand of Luke Bennett (but he will play)... Knox Bearden last year was also one of the regular season games where Duran looked as he did in preseason...some of that can be attributed to the Bulldog defense and some to a bad game...Friday will be tough, Bearden will be trying to beat us... Roll Tribe Roll
  10. tu f The "know it alls"? would be whom? South fans and many of their players said they were going to win this year...not going to give D-B any respect; so, yeah, they can stand through the first quarter...not standing now...What the heck does Tusculum have to do with last night? or any other post of mine? Roll Tribe Roll
  11. Sure is quiet tonight, huh Rebels?...Maybe you should have kept your mouths shut before the game...the streak continues and respect is again earned by the Indians...42-14...scored, finally, against 3rd and 4th team jv defense, with your starters...could be the reason for the silence...should be Roll Tribe Roll
  12. WaCo, #20 is the second in the line of the three Throp sons - Josef (soph)...yes he is playing...and wearing #20 just like big brother Walker...#67 is Daniel Kilgore - starting center last year, back again, this time at about 230 lbs (jr)...one very important lineman missing was Casey Salyer #65 (jr), ankle injury, being evaluated tomorrow...pretty solid first effort, for both teams really...D-B will scrimmage TN High Friday @ D-B...hey WaCo, realize that with everyone you mentioned - only one senior in the bunch and we have some real good seniors... Roll Tribe Roll
  13. Sorry about the Reggie Cobb mistake...sorry to all the Knox Central fans... (my favorite cousin graduated from there) Roll Tribe Roll
  14. Central lost Harvey, Frye, Davenport, and Dunford...some of the top skill players in Northeast TN...will be hard to replace. Roll Tribe Roll
  15. JP just because you don't throw the ball in your midget games and Central doesn't do it doesn't mean it isn't done and done well in high school...read my previous post and understand victories and yardage gained from said post regarding the Dobyns-Bennett Indians...region 1 5A and region 2 5A have seen the Indians' attack regularly and know it to be successful...beat MBA one year and took them to 4 overtimes the next...we have scrimmaged Maryville the past few years and they respect what we do...we do a good job of blocking the defensive ends and the defensive tacckles, too and attack the defensive coverages, because most high school defenses aren't used to a spread offense that can run and throw...that is what we do and do it very well...as I said, Woody Hayes would like your gameplan, but then, he is no longer with us. Roll Tribe Roll
  16. so qb#7 didn't start out saying that after week 5 everyone would be talking about WB...sounds like trash talk to me...and then took a swipe @ D-B and the fact that they lost a playoff game to WB...sounds like trash talk to me...but, he didn't play for WB, he played for someone across town...well, Heritage hasn't "played on turf", at least not in the championship, so it's either Alcoa or Maryville...don't you just love a mystery?...why would he be talking up WB in week 5 if he played for Maryville, so must be Alcoa...and he wasn't talking trash... D-B also played Riverdale in '94 on turf @ MTSU Roll Tribe Roll
  17. Skaggs, like Williams, is a follower and they both follow the wrong people. They both need to take responsibility for their actions...sports should not even be a consideration... Upcoming sophs who had a good spring - Andrew Pappas, Coty Sensabaugh, Josef Throp, Aaron Marsh, Cody Burnett, Ben Davis, Logan Williamson, Justin Basham, Trevor Salyers...these and others should make an impact this fall... The Indians beat Halls one TD to zero, so 7-0, or rather 6-0 @ Halls...Matt McMillan scored for the Indians...McMillan and Josef Throp both picked off passes in the first team vs. first team part of the scrimmage...Indians pretty much controlled this event. Both teams were missing key players due to baseball and track (McMillan was the only spring athlete to participate in football this spring and I think he only had 2 days of practice before the scrimmage). Sam McCord looked real soild during the spring in the QB position. Roll Tribe Roll
  18. From a Dobyns-Bennett fan - Congratulations to both teams for making the finals. East Tennessee is proud...Good Luck to both teams. Roll Tribe Roll
  19. oakland2001, Thanks for the good words and I agree, it is something very special to win the state in both boys and girls...a large accomplishment...we in Kingsport are very proud. Thanks again Roll Tribe Roll
  20. Thanks...I just hadn't heard a lot of talk (probably because the season just ended for the Tribe). Thanks again Roll Tribe Roll
  21. Congratulations to the Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett Indians Girls and Boys Tennis Teams...STATE CHAMPIONS Roll Tribe Roll
  22. Regardless of who saw them coming or not...How 'Bout Them Indians!!?!! State Champions two years running for the boys and State Champions for the girls (first time since 1979)! Congratulations to the Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett Indians Boys and Girls Tennis Teams...STATE CHAMPIONS Roll Tribe Roll
  23. atalltexan, So, where does Dobyns-Bennett place on this list? ...my wife is a short former texan... Roll Tribe Roll
  24. You cannot have a legitimate list of the "best" head coaches in East Tennessee and not include George Quarles of Maryville and Graham Clark of Dobyns-Bennett... Period Roll Tribe Roll
