  1. Ooltewah at McCallie on Friday, 4:00 I think.
  2. John Long from Ooltewah started as a freshman and has continued to improve leading into his senior season. Last year most of his kick offs were into the endzone with several that went through the uprights.
  3. Kyler Burke - 2007 batted .233, 11 HRS, 62 RBI's regular season, in which he played through a trade. Selected to play in the Hawaii winter league with other top notch minor league players from all organizations. He hit .333 in 26 games. In 2008 batted .242, 9 HRS, and 49 RBIs. Maybe you need to remember he would only be a junior in college right now. He is doing fine, he is listed as the best minor league outfield arm in the Cubs organization going into Spring Training. Every Ooltewah player you have mentioned were very good high school baseball players. All played in the State baseball tournament during their years as Owls. Yes not all made it big in college but not that many do. Maybe they did not play up to what several of us expected but college baseball doesn't work out for everyone that signs. They did earn the opportunity to play at the next level. Ooltewah has had 25 or so baseball players sign to play college baseball in the past 6 years. Not many schools can say that. Their time has past, now is the time to talk about the players that are playing high school baseball today, not bash the young men that have moved on. Good luck to the 2009 Owls.
  4. Gatewood is getting a supplement, he was only a volunteer the first year he returned from Velocity. They are already intervueing people for Coach Gatewoods position. Henderson's spot will not be hard to fill either - PE teaching spots will attract lots of attention from football coaches. The interesting thing will be if any of the volunteer coaches follow Gatewood to EHHS. Couch helped him before Benny was at Ooltewah and before he was the Head Coach at David Brainerd. Davis was the Defensive Coord. at Ooltewah when Gatewood was the head coach, neither of them have any ties to Coach Monroe other than the past couple of years.
  5. Great game Oakland, congrats. Ooltewah had a great season thanks boys for all you did. You have nothing to be ashamed of, keep you heads up and be proud of your accomplishments.
  6. Blocked extra point was right before half time, Maplewood scored two early TD's in the first quarter and Ooltewah scored two in the second quarter. Noone scored after the half. Benny and the "Raiders" went on a pretty good run back in the day. They won three or four in a row.
  7. Big plays saved the Owls last night! Slaughter had his boys ready. Good job Trojans, you guys had a great season.
  8. Who's running their mouth? Seems like yours spouts off pretty good! Maybe you otta take some of your own advice and worry about Oak Ridge and just leave the Owls alone. If the rematch happens then you can flap your gums. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Farragut got flagged 7 times all night. 2 of them on your coach. Ooltewah was flagged 6 times. The was the one part of the game that was not one sided. The officiating has always been GREAT when we come to your house to play, hasn't it.
  10. The Chattanoogan stated this today "Courtney did not come back on the field after the game, but Farragut assistant David Sweetland said he heard Courtney complaining about a forearm in the back of Browning." I don't see anything wrong with the hit. I don't think the coach actually saw the hit, he was looking downfield following the ball, he turned around afterwards and saw his QB laying on the field again and lost it. I think it was a frustrating night for Farragut coaches, players, fans, ect. If you think this was a bad call you are grasping at straws. Maybe someone could call down to Soddy and talk them into playing "Flag" football next friday night?
  11. I guess it is all about your perspective. I watched the video clip and I don't think there should have been a flag. The followthru motion of the QB makes his head come down and forward, #44 did hit him high, but I don't think it was intentional shot to the head. The kid didn't wrap up and take the QB to the ground. Either way it in no way deserved the response it got from your coach. He sure has put your team in a mess of a situation for next weeks game and Soddy is not going to be an easy place to right the SHIP. I here they are calling their field "The Slaughter House" now. Good Luck!
  12. I heard OR's QB went down last night. How is he?
  13. The coach has to sit out minimum one game. No coaching on the field or press box. I don't think he can even be at the game.
  14. I heard Coach Courtney went into the Owls locker room after the game and apologized. He is a class act, he just lost it tonight, it can happen to the best of us in a weak moment. I am sure he would love to have those few minutes back with a "do over". Good job Owls keep it up! One game at a time don't get caught looking past anyone.
