Any truth to the rumor that she petitioned the TSSAA to play with 2 basketballs so that she could get her shots??????? Team player??????

If Obion Co Central doesn't win the state championship the next 2 years, it will be as ridiculous as Westview not winning the last 2 years.

Since my Milan girls are out, I will be pulling for Gibson Co. I think that coaching wins both of these games tonight. I will go with Russell by about 5, as Dudley could have a big night from the outside, and MeElrath and Coleman can contain Delk. In the opener, I'll take Stephenson by 14. Westview has too much experience, and I am still not sold on Obion Co yet. Good luck to all teams. What radio station will carry the first game?

Post season basketball starts this week in South Fulton. I hear that 18 players will be on the all district team from this 10 team league, and it will only cost $3 for admission to see some good basketball. Anybody got the official schedule?

Monday Night: Girls Play in games (3) 4/5, 2/7, 3/6 Tuesday Night: Boys Play in games (3) 4/5, 2/7, 3/6 Thursday Night: Girls Semi Finals (2) 1-4/5, 2/7-3/6 Friday Night: Boys Semi Finals (2) 1-4/5, 2/7-3/6 Saturday Night: Girls Consolation and Final (2) Monday Night: Boys Consolation and Final (2) I am not exactly sure of the times. I think 5:00 the first 2 nights, then 6:30 the rest of the tournament. It should be a good tournament. Who should finish 1-4? I think: 1. Westview 2. Gibson Co 3. Obion Co Central 4. Milan 1st round: Best game will be Obion Co Central @ Dyersburg. I think Gibson Co will finally beat Milan in the 2nd round. Dyersburg could pull the 1st round upset and finish in the 3rd or 4th seed.

Listened to this one on the radio while at the Gibson Co-Milan game. It sounded like Westview was on the ropes for about 3 quarters, then extended it out in the 4th quarter. What did Obion Co do to frustrate Westview? It sounded like it was called close, as the game lasted forever. Anyone with a game synopsis?

I think this is accurate. I believe the first tiebreaker is head to head competition. The 2nd is record against teams above you inthe standings. Milan owns the 1st tiebreaker against Gibson Co with the 2-0 sweep. Obion Co owns the tiebreaker over Dyersburg, if it comes into play (doubtful),which doesn't really matter, other than making Dyersburg the visitor on the scoreboard in the district tournament. Crockett Co and Dyer Co are going to need a coin unless one of them can pull off an upset in the last week of the season. It should be an excellent tournament in Dyersburg. Good luck to my Gibson County teams first, and then the rest of 13AA!

I am taking Westview at home tonite by a score of 68-56. I also think Gibson Co wins tonite over Milan 54-45. After the district games tonite, things will be farely set with just a couple of meaningful games left. It will be an exciting tournament for district 13AA!

If this is for a state coach of the year: AAA Smyrna coach (Willie, I believe), they have come out of anonymity. AA Mem Hillcrest coach, not many people know about him. He has an excellent club this year, and will make some noise at tournament time for one of the region 7 teams. Also, Farris Lowery at Jackson Northside has done a tremendous job this year. A Coach Trevathan at Greenfield has done wonders in a short time. Maybe Patterson at Madison Magnet. For 13AA: I don't believe the above coach from Obion Central should be. Even though Milan has stumbled as of late, they have really gotten on the map in girls' basketball. My vote would go to the Milan coach. Just my opinions: good luck to all of 13AA in the upcoming tournament.

I noticed when reading the Jackson Sun this morning that 3 Obion Central players aare shooting a very high percentage. Jana Roney had a 61.1 field goal %, Jennifer Davis had a 57.7 %, and Whitney Williams came in at 53.5%. These were 3 of the highest in 13AA. It appears that all teams did not send in their stats, however, these are still high percentages. My question is how in the world are 3 girls shooting it this well over the course of some 20-25 games, and they are not any higher in their district standings than they are. The few times that I have seen them this year, they appeared to play defense. Are these girls getting very few shots and the stats are misleading? Isn't Roney the sophomore that is very talented, and J Davis, the senior that shoots one handed free throws. Not sure about the Williams girl. Someone explain this interesting phenomena to me.

From an innocent bystanders point of view: I chose to skip the Gibson Co -Milan game to come watch Westview tonite. The play in question was an obvious trip, and the girl should be punished in some fashion. Anybody who is able watch the tape will see how obvious this blatant act was. Donnie Joyner got the call right, it was intentional! Looking forward to the Milan-Westview showdown on Tuesday.

Obion County and Westview could meet again in the state finals, they are both excellent teams. Is Dennis Suiter still working with the city of Martin? I live in Milan, and thought that he was the park director or something like that. We play several Cal Ripken tournaments up that way, and recognize the name and face. I saw him last nite, and I understand him cheering for his son, as I would be too, but to cheer so franticly against Martin. I bet that doesn't set well with some folks. Anybody else notice, or is it just me? Anyways, good luck to both squads, as well as Chester Co,Bolivar, Trenton Peabody, USJ/South Fulton, Dyersburg, and Jackson Northside! Make West TN proud!

I will pick Gleason by 8-10. Gleason is tough to beat at home.

For Gran -mama Fact # 1: Gleason has two gold balls, how many does Dresden have? Fact # 2: Gleason has had numerous trips to Murfreesboro, when was the last time Dresden went? Fact # 3: Kayla Hudson is a better basketball player than Kaci Bailey. Both are good, but in 2 years, this topic will be an absolute joke. Dresden fans like gran need to get a grip and like WesCharge said in a previous post quit hanging the entire season on beating Gleason. Hypothetical question: Would you rather be 3-23 and beat Gleason 3 times or 23-3 and lose to Gleason 3 times. You are missing the big picture, the "county"championship means nothing. Good luck to all northwest Tennessee teams and especially my Gibson Co (we need help) Pioneers. By the way: Gibson Co and Westview are huge rivals, but we get along with each other and root for each other. I wanted Westview to win it all a couple of years ago, and I am sure they rooted for us last year. LEARN SOMETHING FROM IT!

Thanks Iamoz. I would guess that Martin Westview is real close if not surpassed this total. The couple of games that I saw, they shot and hit alot of 3s. Good luck in the tournaments to the 13AA teams, and especially my Pioneers! It looks like either there hasn't been anybody threaten this record since 2001 or the record book is from around 2001-2002.

Don't be surprised Denny Crane, they have made several and are definately the team to beat out of 13AA. They should win this district and region, but, then again, Westview seems to never be able to win a region championship. I would say that Westview and the Gibson Co/Obion CO winner in the district will advance on to substate. Just a guru's thoughts, what does a guru know.

Hello, Spencer Coffman is no longer at Obion Central!!!!!!! Not so fast my friends picking the "View........Obion Central is for real (there is no midseason peak this year) with the former Martin standout on the sidelines. It should be a good test for both teams. I expect something strange to happen. I think Westview will upset Obion Central in a high scoring afair. Then, Obion will get revenge later in the season when they return to the barn, I mean, the pit.

I like those picks, however, I will say the winner of the Livingston and Gibson Co 1st round game will win it all.

Chubby You hit it right on the nail, OC is always very good and full of energy and seem to hit stride right after Christmas. I believe they beat Westview before Christmas last year, and everyone knows how good that bunch ended up being. The last 2 years have been a mirror image, and OC is 1 and done again at the region. GO 13AA !!!! I think Westview will win tonite by 15-20, and Crockett will surprise Brighton and win by 3-5....

Great point WesCharge, I thought the draw occurred on the morning after substate games. It will be a travesty if the 2 best districts in the state get pitted against each other, therefore allowing 2 weaker teams into the semi final round. Seymour becomes a lock, and someone from the teams of Oliver Springs, Cheatham Co, McNairy Co, or some other billy goat will be in the state semi finals. A couple of the billy goats wouldn't make it out of 7AA or 13AA district tournaments. Someone get a clue.

After watching the semi final action last night at Westview, Gibson County and Westview are playing the best ball right now. I thought Gibson County would have no trouble with anyone in the district, however, after the performance by Westview last night, just manhandled a good Obion team 52-23, and it wasn't even that close, they were firing on all cylinders. It looks like Gibson County and Westview are again the teams to beat, and look for them to be in the hunt again. I look for a tight battle in the championship, it really doesn't matter who wins, however, surely Gibson County would like to get that 0 out of the L column. The consolation game could also turn ugly, LaRue will probably make someone beat him from the outside, and Obion doesn't have the weapons to do it. Picks: Westview 53 Gibson County 49 Crockett County 44 Obion County 36 That how I see it, with at least 3 of these teams winning in the region 1st round, and possibly all 4. Go 13AA!!!!!!!

Greenfield is too high. They are right around .500, and have lost to Liberty, Dyer County, Westview, UC, and some others listed and not listed. Just an opinion. They are one of the top 2 in single A in west TN, but AA and AA are loaded this year.
