  1. jefferson county is in AAA, section 1

  3. I wouldn't overlook the University School - Johnson City teams
  4. lol...That's ok, in 20 + years when you are 40, you'll still be remembering your days in high school and those you ran with and against. You'll have great memories and treasure the chance to catch up with former teammates and competitors alike. It's always interesting to meet guys you ran against so long ago and compare times, accomplishments, etc... What grade will you be going into this fall? Best of luck to you and your teammates this season.
  5. I'm at Columbia Central. Scot always was a nice guy but much quieter than Mike.
  6. Funny, I ran 15:56 in 82 after missing the week between regions and state with the flu. Saw Mike last year at state (he was coaching at Volunteer). I've been in middle tenn for 16 years now and don't get to see very many anymore. Not even sure if Scot remembers me.
  7. Ha, Walter and I went to elementary school together until my family moved out of Johnson City. Visited off and on for a couple of years then went several years without seeing him until we lined up beside each other at a freshman track meet. Bob was a year behind me but he was close with my teammates and myself. Beat me by 1 second at 81 state. Remember Scot as well. Our senior year KD-B had Mike, Scot and Meechy Long. I ran 15:40 my junior year at state (4th on our team) but was probably still behind you.
  8. Well we definitely competed. I ran for Daniel Boone from 80-83 when we won the state champ in 81, 3rd in 80 and 5th in 82. small world.
  9. Wow, that brings back memories. How well I remember Mike. Competed against him for 4 years, and being in the same region, practicly every meet.

  11. sycamore may be a good team but i don't think they are even the best in their section let alone state. they'll have a tough time with page who is loaded from sprints to distance to field events.
  12. wouldn't call wynne the best 100 guy till he can beat vaughn (defending state 100 champ) from page
  13. any reason he wasn't running at the great 8 last week at vandy?
  14. I will tell the meet director to forward them on to coach parks. some of the top performances were from joseph pair (distance) and james vaughn (sprints) from page. Kathy Kroeger (distance) from independance, molly burrows (hurdles, field events) from eagleville, daniea jackson and alexis custard (sprints) from columbia.
  15. was there anything in particular you were looking for? I know some of the results
  16. Don't know that I would proclaim a waltz through the district (too many if's, and's and but's) but it is a testament to the girls who are playing, seeing as how they are 3rd right now and remember, they are hosting the district.
  17. don't quote me on this and someone who knows more can correct me if need be, but i think the first tie breaker is head to head which if they split is null. then they go to a coin flip. district 7 is very tough in boys this year. someone from 8 could pull a few upsets but shelbyville looks to be our best chance of getting past regions this year.
  18. if Lincoln Co wins out and assuming Cofee Co loses to Shelbyville, there would be a tie for 2nd and a coin toss since the two split.
  19. does recruiting behind the scenes take place? yes. should it be allowed? no, not by coaches, administration or anyone involved with the school or team. but you also have to look at this scenario....sometimes family's relocate and/or student/athletes transfer because they want to play for a certain coach or at a certain school / program. not all transfers have been approached, some make the decision completely on their own.
  20. i give the edge to columbia this time around. they are playing at home, playing for atleast a tie for first and playing with more emotion. columbia has some back from injuries too. could come down to who controls the tempo but still feels columbia wins this one.
  21. Standings as of friday 2/3: 1. Shelbyville 10-0 2. Coffee County 6-4 3. Tullahoma 6-5 4. Lincoln Co 5-5 5. Columbia 4-6 6. Lawrence Co 4-7 7. Franklin Co 1-9 final week of regular season: tuesday 2/7 Lawrence Co @ Columbia Shelbyville @ Coffee Co Franklin Co @ Lincoln Co friday 2/10 Tullahoma @ Shelbyville Coffee Co @ Franklin Co Columbia @ Lincoln Co Loretto @ Lawrence Co * Could possibly end up with a 3 way tie for 3rd with Tullahoma, Lincoln Co and Columbia which would have 2 playing first round district games at home and the other going on the road.
  22. friday 2/3 scores and standings: Shelbyville 56 Lawrence Co 38 Lincoln Co 50 Coffee Co 34 Columbia 56 Giles Co 39 Franklin Co 65 Tullahoma 43 1. (tie) Columbia and Shelbyville @ 8-2 3. Lawrence Co @ 6-5 4. Franklin Co @ 5-5 (won only game so far vs. Lincoln Co) 5. Lincoln Co @ 5-5 6. Coffee Co @ 4-6 7. Tullahoma @ 0-11 next week's schedule: tuesday 2/7: Lawrence Co @ Columbia Shelbyville @ Coffee Co Franklin Co @ Lincoln Co friday 2/10: Tullahoma @ Shelbyville Columbia @ Lincoln Co Coffee Co @ Franklin Co Loretto @ Lawrence Co
  23. harpeth may be AA but don't let that fool you. they are quick and tenacious. it was a good game and a good win on the road for columbia. as for rankings, that's all good for parents and fans but the girls know what matters and when it counts. i hope our 4 teams from 8-AAA are ready to play come regions. i think we could have 3 of the 4 in the semi-finals but district 7 has several playing well of late.
  24. I want to compliment the ladies from both teams on a well played and hard fought game!! although this had no bearing on distirct, region, seedings etc... i think both teams came out ahead from playing this game late in the season. it prepares them for tough, down to the wire games and both showed weaknesses (not many though) that they can work to improve on before tourney's kick in.
  25. i can see that coming for 1st and 2nd. but the interesting outcome may be the coin flip for the 3-5 or 3-6 spots if they stay bunched up seeing how 5 and 6 will have to travel to 3 and 4 for the elimination round. 4 teams are so close yet only 2 of them will advance.
