Congrats to the Blue Devils. This may be your Cinderella season yet. The Bobcats defense put up a fight but fumbles have been our biggest downfall this season. Good luck next week. Hopefully you have the home field so We can catch the game.

Ah...see, you're wrong. I don't give WH much thought, but I'd like to see a week 2 rematch, it's true. And if you forget, Greenbrier won the two before last week and the winning streak ended years ago so calm down. I hope your hometown ref is on the field tonight and you guys get a win so you guys can put up another sign.

It'd be interesting to see those stats. A friend of mine and I were talking today about good former WH players because he's a WH old timer. He mentioned John Hall as one of the best QB's. He said Carey Lafferty, Stanley Light, and other players from the years of the days the football field was behind the school now known as the Civic Center. He said Light and Hall both went on to play for Vandy and WKU respectively. I was around in those years but vaguely remembering they were the "greatest." I guess it all depends on the players you remember.

Yep. Everybody can have a bad game or two, or ten.
-
I'm telling you... They're being really quiet and that only could only mean two things...either Porter has shut down the internet in WH, or they pondering that schedule too.... it's not like them to not be tooting their own horns.

Yes. It's on Hwy 76. I'm sure you've got GPS's but the most direct route will be to go to Exit 108 on I-65N which actually is the White House exit so you guys and Chester County will be all be getting off the interstate at the same exit...CC will go right and Harden will go left, although there are several fast food places and a Cracker Barrel in WH, there is an Applebees, O'Charleys and a Catfish House for bigger restaurants in Springfield about 10 minutes from the school. For anyone wanting to stay overnight, White House or Goodlettsville (tons of restuarants there) will have your largest hotel options (all are within 20 minutes of Springfield stadium.) After exiting the interstate you will have a curvy and hilly Hwy 76 to follow directly to Springfield High School. SHS is close to Hwy 49 too if you chose to come from I-24 W (exit 24)...either way, Springfield is NOT close to the interstate. IF any other games brings you this direction, Greenbrier is 7 miles to the south of Springfield, and you will pass White House Heritage (didn't make the playoffs) on the way from WH to Springfield. Creekwood is in about an hour from us (the three schools in closer proximity). Most important thing: get north of Nashville before 3pm! Trust me. It's a Friday nightmare if you don't. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs! Let's Go Region 5!

Greenbrier vs Jackson South Side (Round 1)
GreenbrierCat2 replied to GreenbrierCat2's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
Correct! Everybody's back at square 1. And we all know that there are upsets to be had. Just like the world series proved....your worst and most important game can be the same one. Go Cats! -
Why would you even start a post like this? Old players, their dad, brother, sister, grandma, etc are gonna come and call their name or number because they have a user name and you have no way of knowing....and this IS a very subjective topic. All in the matter of opinion, and in the cutting short the old phrase..everybody's got one.

I didn't realize until I listed this that WH was second from the bottom on strength of schedule and Chester County was so close to the top and they have reversed. I wonder if that will come to play a factor Friday night. I don't know how this will all play out but I know Lexington has always been a strong opponent. Greenbrier's road to Murfreesboro ran through Jackson South Side back in 2004 however we both have different coaches now and of course, different players. It's going to be a hard fought game. Go Bobcats!

Greenbrier vs Jackson South Side (Round 1)
GreenbrierCat2 replied to GreenbrierCat2's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
It sounds like it's gonna be another rainy Friday night, Cats. Here's to our Greenbrier boys in this video (in the white and green muddy uniforms.) Buckle up, and just go do it. Go Cats! -
Hopefully Chester County has traveling fans. White House gets loud when they have a playoff game. You're right...beating them at their field when they're on a roll is a stretch but anyone can have an upset on a bad night. The weather won't be as bad as it was last Friday night or as bad as what is forecast in West TN Friday night so it's anybody's guess. You will notice a significant smaller visitor side vs. the huge WH side of the stadium so get here early if you have a large traveling fan base. The stadium isn't at the high school but at the city park not far from exit 108 (I-65N). If you don't get on the north side of Nashville before 3:00pm on a Friday, pack your patience. The interstate rush hour traffic coming north is terrible. There's variety of fast food and restaurants in WH so get beyond Nashville and have a leisurely pre-game dinner. There is a Cracker Barrel right off the interstate, and several Mexican restaurants around town. There's also some hotels right off the exit off the exit within a minute or two from the stadium. Hope this helps all you travelers. WH has a website ( whitehousefootball.wordpress.com) for those that can't travel. I'm sure they have the Google map there for those following a GPS. The lights light up half the town so you can't miss it. Good luck to both teams! Here's to no injuries and safe travels.

White House not talking? That's unusual. Did somebody turn off the internet??

Greenbrier vs Jackson South Side (Round 1)
GreenbrierCat2 replied to GreenbrierCat2's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
Jackets may have some Green in your stands that can't get to Jackson. Be interesting game. Good luck! Hope you all have a good turnout. -
You're a wise person, Loco. We'll play one week at a time and learn from the mistakes I've seen teams that get too far into their own hype and go home the first round. Any given Friday, my friend..... No team is beyond a bad Friday night.
-
Let the playoffs begin! Please keep this thread ON TOPIC, not about other teams.
-
Good opportunity for Springfield to show off their new stadium. Should be a memorable night. Since I don't know anything about Hardin, won't predict any scores. If Springfield's #23 is healthy after a messy Friday night, his speed will be the one to Hardin to keep up with. From what I've seen, he's the fastest on the field for the Jackets and probably in this region.
-
You know who I'm talking about..... Be glad you guys have home field "advantage" next week. LOL.

Well, as far as I know, no Greenbrier former football players are refs here. Can't say that for WH, and if any of you are paying attention, you know it's true. It's been happening for years. That said, I'll forego my opinion on WH's schedule. I would have loved to see a WH game against the same Fairview team we played. And yes, a win's a win, but from what I saw at Springfield, if #23 and #4 are healthy, I think they have a good chance to beat whoever they play in the first round, IF (a big IF) their lack of disipline doesn't kill them in penalties. All top four in the region need to act like they have seen a touchdown or two. Headbobbing and taunting have no place in high school football. Period. I'd love to see the coaches put a stop to that. Anybody can win or lose on any given Friday night but whichever it is, do it will class and sportsmanship. Save your smack for the locker room. As far as tonight, all bets are off. Greenbrier needs to leave it all on the field. Play lights out, in the trenches and serve up some smackmouth. NO TURNOVERS, NO FUMBLES. Go GREEN! Finish STRONG!
-
I'm not blaming any refs for any large scale wins or losses, but in close calls, who knows? Know for a fact that one of the regular refs I've seen there is a former WH football player. He worked with a good friend. Hard to believe a former player would not have some bias for his old alma mater. I would just have thought the assignments would prevent that.
-
Speaking of Refs. Who vets them? How is it that a ref gets to call plays for a game that he is a former player on one of the teams playing? Does anybody check that? I have a hard time believing he has no bias when his alma mater going 10-0 is on the line....just sayin'. I know it's happenening cause I have seen it on their home games for years.
-
Totally agreed. It's easy to win against teams who can't even get their fans to show up....
-
All bias aside, I've seen both Springfield and White House in recent weeks. If the rematch happens, just like Greenbrier, WH doesn't have a matchup for a healthy #23.
-
Way to bounce back against Montgomery Central tonight, Cats! Keep it rolling right through Cheatham County and on to bye week. The last two will be out to get us. Turn up the heat!
-
Congrats to Fairview. Probably the best team the Bobcats have played in a while. They were strong and fast, and thankfully, not a region game. Lessons learned on what needs to be worked on but still proud of these 5-1 Bobcats. They will bounce back and finish at or near the top. Homecoming week coming up and then a needed bye. Keep up the good work, Cats!
