  1. Is that where you have your mobile home loan?
  2. Trust me ... if Farragut did something "bush league" and "unsportsmanlike" before the game, it was simply an honest mistake on their part /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />. Their players seem to make those honest mistakes alot. They really don't mean anything by them. Last season, when WB played at Farragut, the Reviez kid stood at the 50 during warm-ups and taunted our players warming up (before anyone wants to deny that one, I was standing 10 feet from him when he did it) and this year, they ran through our band before the game while our band was trying to play (and then their fans got on here and said it was a mistake ... it obviously wasn't). Take a poll in region 2 5A of the respective coaches and players as to which team (and which individual player) talks the most trash and shows the least amount of class ... Farragut will win in a runaway. I was so much more impressed by Bearden's players as far as how they carried themselves and acted on the field. They kicked our butts all over the field without having to taunt and gesture and act cocky. Certainly can't say the same for Farragut.
  3. Of the four teams left in Region 1 & 2 (Farragut, William Blount, Bearden, DB) ... Farragut relies more on one player--Sterling--than any of the other three rely on just one player. You can say that Farragut is not a "one man team" and certainly they have a lot of quality players, but the fact is ... if you stop Sterling, you can beat Farragut. The problem is, no one has really figured out how to stop him. I've only seen Farragut play once, at William Blount. Had it not been for Sterling on that evening, I honestly do not believe the game would have been close. Because of him, Farragut won. Without him, Blount would have won and most likely won by a comfortable margin. This is of course only one person's opinion, but I guarantee you'll find a lot of people that will agree with this asessment, not just WB fans but many Farragut fans as well.
  4. IV. THE PLAY-OFF GAMES (Division I: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A) A. The first-round games in all classifications shall be played on the 11th Friday of the football season. The second round shall be played on the 12th Friday, the quarterfinals on the 13th Friday, the semifinals on the 14th Friday, and the championship games shall be played on either the following 15th Friday or Saturday. B. In all Class 1A, 3A, 4A and 5A play-off games, in the first and second rounds the higher seeded team shall be the host school. In the third round and semifinals in odd-numbered years the top team in each bracket shall be the host team. In even-numbered years the procedure shall be rotated in the third round and semifinals. C. In the third round and semifinals of Class 1A, 3A, 4A and 5A, if two teams from the same region play each other, the higher seeded team shall be the host. Page 2 Although it sounds like in part B that WB would host semi ... you then read on to part C. and that would seem to indicate that if Blount's opponent was Farragut, the game would take place at Farragut. At least, that's how it reads to me.
  5. With the TSSAA changes about which regions hosts quarter final and semi final games, I have a question. The bracket that Blount is in is set up for the Region 1 winner (Bearden) to be at home for the quarter final game if they win their first two games. The bracket indicates that the winner of the week two game that could possibly be Bearden vs Blount would be home for week 3. If Blount wins but their quarter final opponent is Farragut, would Blount still host? Or would Farragut since they finished ahead of Blount in their region? I know it works that way in week two, but wasn't sure about week three.
  6. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see Ooltewah defeat Bearden, but then that would mean facing William Blount on the Governor's field the following week and that would definitely be the end of the road for the Owls I'm afraid. The Owls might be a force to be reckoned with in a year or two, but they're not quite ready for William Blount this year.
  7. Whew! Thanks for straightening that out FTBMan. You're really on top of things. Hey Heather, Is it true what I heard? That this year, since it is an uneven number, that the team's finishing first in their region can actually choose to compete in a different classification for the playoffs? I heard that if Maryville wins tonight, that they might move up and play in the 5A playoffs this year. Does this sound right to you?
  8. You're from Oakland and you're calling WB a "joke in every sport." Gosh ... coming from such a sports powerhouse that really hurts! You'all really dominate in everything! Oops, I forgot ... it's not the 90's anymore. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. If WB defeats Bradley and Heritage, it would be impossible for Oak Ridge to win the region. Sorry. If Oak Ridge were to defeat Farragut, and WB wins out, the Gov's are first. If Farragut wins out and WB wins out, Admirals first and WB second.
  10. I tend to agree with you on this one Broadbat. I don't know about complete dismissal from the team, but if this were to happen at WB, I would be disappointed if the players involved--especially the two instigators--weren't at least suspended for a game or two. It is easy for outsiders (including me) to throw stones and make accusations, but obviously, by the news coverage reports, this is a situation that deserves more than just extra laps at practice, early morning running, etc. These players should be penalized some playing time in my opinion. Coach Monroe has dropped a notch on my respect level, that is for sure. And I agree with you, THIS DOES NOT make the whole community of Ooltewah, nor the school, a bunch of bad people. It simply points to the fact that all of our schools and communities have individuals that "cross acceptable lines" sometimes and we need to enforce proper discipline measures when they do. For the good of the school and for the good of the indivuals involved.
  11. Heather, From what I've heard, it is a home game for Blunt but they will be playing it on the road at McMinn because of a conflict with a volleyball match there at Blunt. Blunt will still wear their home whites, their fans will get to sit on the home side, and they will get all the gate proceeds and concession revenue. Being somewhat of an expert in the "sports" and "sports entertainment" field ... does this seem like a fair plan for both parties?
  12. Sorry 50 ... I misunderstood. You make an excellent point by the way.
  13. The situation was dealt with by the Blount County police (the incident took place in Blount County) and WB administration. He was directed to not only leave the pressbox but also the stadium that evening. I have not--and never will--"condone" what Mr. Meadows did. He lost his temper, made a mistake, and deserved the consequences he received. If he received a reprimand in his file it is because he screwed up. I believe that is the same reason your Head Coach received a reprimand in his file recently. He 'verbally assaulted' a young teenage man. Other than than reprimand, what other type of punishment did he receive? Bladerunner, are you okay with your head coach still being around your players? Or is the type of assault he practices not as serious to you?
  14. Fact: The grass on the field was deep ... deeper than normal. It needed to be mowed. Fact: Coach Meadows (himself) relieved his dad of his duties immediately following the incident at the OR game last year. Fact: You don't know all the details of what happened in the booth that night. Fact: Coach Meadows (SR) after appologizing now does occasionally help with our kickers. He sits in the stands with his wife during all of our games. He has not represented WB in the pressbox since that incident. Fact: You need to learn how to take a loss with some class and dignity.
  15. From a William Blount fan perspective, having only seen these guys in games against the Govs, here's my ranking of running backs in 5A in our area: 1. Sterling (Farragut) ... in a category by himself, noone else comes close. 2. Darren Garner (William Blount) ... maybe most underated, but has incredible speed, vision, and great receiver out of backfield 3. Marshall (Ooltewah) ... great open field runner and cutter, not near as strong as Sterling ... doesn't hit the hole as well as Garner does. 4. Stephenson (OR) ... had a sub-par game against WB ... his numbers show he's obviously a good back Can't really comment on the Sensebaugh kid cause I don't remember him carrying it much against WB. Sounds like he might be the next big deal though! And havn't got a chance to see the McMinn County rb this year, but if he's the same one they had last year, he's a stud and might belong in that top 4 list as well.
  16. Nice try genius. #1 - wrong gender. #2 - maybe I am a "newbie", but I was under the impression this was the kind of board that people tried to use facts to support their opinions instead of making things up to try to tear other teams down. #3 - you're telling me to "grow up" ... your a real laugh. #4 - obviously, you don't have a real good grasp on the "truth" but as far as the "spanking" you're speaking of, we'll know soon enough how true that is relative to "my Govs". #5-You represent Oak Ridge so well. I'm sure all the Wildcat fans on here are real proud to associate with you.
  17. Not surprisingly, you're wrong. Why lie? Doe's the TRUTH mean anything at all to you?
  18. Very classy reply. You represent your school and community well. Not once have I cried about the outcome of the game; taken anything away from Farragut's awesome performance; Sterling's incredible night ... it was a great win for Coach Courtney and Farragut's team. But the team running through the band was wrong. Is there ANYONE from Farragut that saw what happened? If WB did this, although I'm a huge fan, I'd be furious. If I had a son playing and he did this, he wouldn't need discipline from the school, he'd get it at home. Sometimes in life, you need to "own" your mistakes, instead of trying to attack the other party.
  19. Not offended by the outcome of the game ... hated to lose, but both teams treated the fans to an awesome game. One team had to win and one had to lose ... Farragut earned a well-deserved victory. YES, myself and several others--WB and Farragut fans--were offended by the team's display of poor sportsmanship. If thinking those players that bobbed and weaved back and forth through out band members was simply "confusion" on their part helps you rationalize poor sportsmanship, then keep thinking it !!!
  20. I'm not sure how they do it at the school you support, but at our school, the band comes out on the field to play the National Anthem (we do that to honor our country) and then they stay out for our team (the home team) to do their run through. That is part of our "festivity". We leave the entire upper end of the field clear for the opposing team to still do a run out and head to their side without having to run in front of our band and through our band. It was bush league, those that were there (both WB and Farragut) know it ... if you'd been there, you wouldn't be defending this lack of respect and class. Other teams ... Kingsport DB, Ooltewah, Maryville, etc. don't seem to have a problem with this common courtesy. Farragut obviously does.
  21. Two good teams ... a great game. Farragut was the best team last night. They did what they had to to win. Sterling was incredible. One complaint ... the kids that work hard all summer to support their teams by being in the marching bands are super. Both bands last night did a great job. FARRAGUT'S FOOTBALL TEAM SHOULD BE ASHAMED (and disciplined by either their coach, an administrator, or perhaps the band director) for running out onto the field at the start of the game and disrupting WB's band. That type of cockiness and lack of respect for the host school and for the kids that work so hard to get out there and be part of the band has no place in the game at any level. Their was a whole top side of the field for the Farragut team to run onto the field to the cheers of their cheerleaders and fans without having to cut across the front and run helter-skelter through the Governor band. You jock-types can jump on me for being a band supporter, but when it's your kid that works so hard to represent their school, it really stinks to see a team display such blatantly poor sportsmanship. From what I hear of Coach Courtney, he is a super guy and a good disciplinarian. I would hope he would deal with this event that soured my whole view of an otherwise great Farragut football team. I really thought Farragut had more class than that !!!
  22. I don't know if anyone else was watching after the game, but it appeared that Heritage's coach (can't remember his name) brushed off Coach Bledsoe of Maryville, not shaking her hand, and instead ran to the scorer's table to fuss about something. Anyone know what he was upset about?
  23. Such a ridiculous thread. It's not a question of "if Maryville will win or not." The only question is, "how much will they win by?" Mo-West isn't even in the same league. Have a nice off season, Trojans!!!
