  1. Yep looks like the Govs will be able to fully enjoy the Thnaksgiving holiday... at home. Couldn't happen to a nicer head coach. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
  2. There will be another HS in Knox County (Hardin Valley Academy) which will begin in '08 with about 1000 students but should quickly be 1500+ so they should be another 5-A.
  3. Incoming freshman guys so its not like he went to class. Other issues could come into play like did his parent/guardian change or did the family move. Not sure if summer workouts = official practices. If the kid isn't elligible he can still practice and have 3 more years.
  4. Hard to say what will happen. Bartlett has played 1 fewer game so that could be an advantage for them. Obviously both starting pitchers will be on 2 days rest. Both could be tired and a slugfest could ensue. One could pitch well and one doesn't and it will be a blowout (which is my guess) or both could be on and it could be a low scoring game (least likely I believe). How did the final vs. Farragut go last year??? If SD wins I wonder if anybody will complain since Bartlett did not lose in their brackett. Unfair perhaps but that is the way the system is set up.
  5. I'd say in the final you pitch whoever you have to in order to win. There is no tommorrow. Certainly Bell will start for SD and then everyone else if needed.
  6. SD wins 10-0 mercy rule after 5. Kirkland pitches 1 hitter and hits a HR
  7. BY THE WAY IT IS 5-7-4-3 time to go back to typing class. Would you like some cheese with your wine??? And when did I ever say anything about old Sonny Boy's college or pro future???? If you couldn't read those early posts yesterday and see how it was Sonny this and Sonny that then I guess you just don't get it. My "wonderboy" statement is a play on the "wonderboy" nickname of Jeff Gordon who apparently can do no wrong for some as well. There was a lot of big talk in the last week -- 1st from Oakland and then from Smyrna. Ive noticed that the fans of the teams still alive aren't talking as much. Probably pretty smart to talk after the game.
  8. Go read the posts from early yesterday... Who was thumping their chests??? Those fools made old Sonny Boy sound like the 2nd coming of Nolan Ryan. They also said that SD hadn't faced competition as tough as Smyrna. I guess I will finish by saying who is still playing and who is going on summer break???
  9. Well only 1 SD run was earned and I think Smyrna had 3 errors. From what I understand SD scored 2 runs on a failed suicide squueze when Smyrna threw the ball away during a rundown. The runner on 3rd (Brentz) scored and the runner on 1st (Kirkland) came all the way around. Also from what I understand the Smyra infield handled the baseball as if it were a live grenade. SONNY had 6 K's in 5 innings and gave up 8 hits while Holland had 10 in 7 & 5 BB 6 hits allowed. So SD pitched and fielded better end of story. Unless SD collapses tommorrow they will play friday night vs. survivor of elimination game now in progress.
  10. S-A-R-C-A-S-M Go back and read the posts from this morning. Who was talkin trash??? It was SONNY this and SONNY that etc... and how good district 9 AAA was blah blah blah and "we aren't intimidated"... Maybe not intimidated but they may be just done this evening.
  11. Where are all the Smyrna boys at now??? You guys made Sonny boy sound unhitable which I guess he needed to be if your infielders are going to treat baseballs like hand grenades. Bet you guys didn't think you could be finished by nightfall. A tough mtn. to climb no matter which team "wins" the loser bracket. Have to win twice tomorrow to reach finals.
  12. YEP but SD started Holland who is also a D-1 pitcher.
  13. I guess it wasn't a SONNY day in Smyrna today... Poor old S-D didn't have a chance until the game began that is. Have some C-R-O-W boys! I'm sure the explanation on why "wonderboy" couldn't get the job done will begin soon. Time to FLAME ON for S-D fans.
  14. 6-2 bottom 6 only 3 more outs for Smyrna Holland S-D "wonderboy" for Smyrna
  15. update... 6-1 top 6 looks like some CROW might be on the menu tonite in Smyrna. I also hear that Smyrna let 2 runs score in a botched run down after a failed suicide squeeze.
  16. "All year in district 9aaa Smyrna saw the best(Taylor Hill BJ Boston Brady Frey) , Smyrna had the big target on there back so by seeing that pitching it has helped in the long run.. now I dont know what type of quality SD has seen but I promise Sonny is a lot better than what they saw today..." This is what I'm talking about and this "I don't know what South Doyle has got but we're not intimidated. Our records are about the same, the only difference being they played and lost two more games than us." The key here is that neither of these jokers knows a thing about SD. I don't have a clue what will happen but I will say this. There is not a dime's worth of difference between Bell and Holland. Both are lefties and both throw hard. Holland has been SD's #1 pitcher for the last 2 years and he is also a D-1 signee at Memphis like Bell. To say they have never seen a guy that throws hard is idiotic. Both Bell and Holland hit 90 plus and Farragut has had pitchers that throw that hard as well. How many times has Smyrna faced a lefty that throws 90??? You guys better hope you don't have to make lame excuses like Oakland last friday.
  17. Hmm, SD has played Farragut, DB, Science Hill, WB, Bearden etc... but they haven't played ANYBODY???
  18. I bet the fool who said that Oakland could beat Cleveland easily because they had lost to Siegel fells like a fool right now. This may open the door for SD
  19. SD BB field is about 295 down the lines 345 in power alley and 380 to dead center. Not exactly a "small" park. It is a decent HS park. Someone commented on how they beat SD in the regular season... Did Bell or Holland pitch in that game??? If you don't see those guys you aren't seeing their best. Both are lefties and both can throw into the 90's. Bell was hitting 93 on the gun against DB. My "grand experiment" comment was a jab at the "we wiil do what Farragut did last year posts" of earlier today when it came to the starting rotation. Obviously Farragut got away with it last year but it is tough when S-D essentially has 2 #1 starters and a pretty decent # 3 in Brentz. Scarry thing is how good would they be if Cody Haun (Arkanasas signee) hadn't tore up his knee in Feb. and missed the entire season. he hit something like 15 Homers last year and with this lineup would have been hard to pitch around. With Oakland's loss the door is wide open for SD.
  20. I guess D-B's grand experiment did not work. When I pulled up to the ballpark DB fans were already hitting the road. I guess an 6-0 defecit in the 1st will do that. A long way to drive to get 1 hit.
  21. WB fans should look up... at least they don't have to drive over to SDHS and lose anymore this year. What happened to the radio broadcast??? not enough string and soup cans or did the hamster die???
  22. How many games have you guys won the last 2 years??? CCHS is looking at another last place finish in 1 5-A. '04 was a fluke kinda like Vandy playing in a bowl game.
  23. From what my wife heard at her school it doesn't look good for Coach Wilson. The words "Coma" and "Lack of Brain Activity" were used. Perhaps more news on this later today.
