  1. I have heard there are some good size football players that will be freshman this year at Ooltewah. Some of the names I have heard is Corey Richardson(OL), Kyle Matthews(LB), Blake Mcelhaney(FB). Someone was telling me about this kids, I was wondering if anyone knows about them at all. I know there young but someone may know something about them. I have heard numerous things about them. I can't get over what someone was saying about a kid named Blake Mcelhaney, he is 6'2 or taller, and weighs 222 lbs and is a full back that dominanted last season in in middle school. That sound to me like a big boy. The others i have heard that they are really strong. Let me know if anyone knows anything. Thanks
  2. coaching and depth will be the deciding factor yet again this year. Maryville will have Alcoa worn down by the 3rd quarter, then quarles and his staff win in the second half. coaching, as i've said, will be what hold Alcoa back.
  3. Alcoa in 2000. The fastest team that i have ever seen play a HS football game, ran the wing-t on their way to a state championship. Portland, David Lipscomb, and Hillsboro also won state titles running the wing-t. Your coach should do some fact checking!
  4. i would hate to have seen your interpretation of other offenses. 3 plays, are you serious????? you can run pretty much ANYTHING you want to the strong side and weak side: trap, sweep, belly, belly option, waggle, keep pass, sally, counter trap, counter boot, counter option, jet sweep, gut. seems like an awful lot of plays that can be ran with "no modification"
  5. didnt look like David Lipscomb had too much trouble with that defense last year. 56-6 was it?!?!?!?!?!??? and loosing an impact player like hicks doesnt help your team too much. None the less, Alcoa will be tough again this season. they have possibly the 2 best defensive ends in state in some people's opinions. I forsee them making the semifinals again, loosing to either goodpasture or lipscomb. Coaching will be Alcoa's downfall, in my own, unbiased opinion.
  6. so you're telling me that maryville, william blount, and heritage have just as many athletes as Alcoa on a year to year basis????? If you think that, then you're sadly mistaken. Maybe winning a title, making the semi's the following year, and 2 years later making the semi's isnt good enough for you guys in your little "maryville world", but for most teams i'd say they'd take that 4 year stretch and run with it. I stated that Alcoa has loads of talent on their team for the next 3 years, and it would be a shame for poor judgement by the coaches to ruin that for them. The tradition of the Alcoa program gives them the title of "state power in 2A", just like Maryville's tradition gives them the title of "state power in 4A".
  7. i believe the other thread said they went to Sawanee, The University of the South, which is in Chattanooga if im not mistaken.?.?.?.?.?.?.............
  8. i've got a buddy who works at the ALCOA plant and he told me that his kid, who played a few years ago and knows one of the coaches fairly well, said the coach told him they engaged in this act, knowing it was wrong???? hope that's not the case though, maybe someone's story got twisted up somehow. this team has talent like no other, but it would be a shame to see it dwindle away from the lack of character the coaches showed. if for some reason this all turns out to be true, i wouldnt be surprised if maryville and william blount get ALL of the studs Alcoa has for the next 3 years.
  9. from what i know, it will probably be no playoff action for a few years, probation, and maybe a fine? anyone care to chime in with more internal knowledge?
  10. never heard of it..........sounds fishy............
  11. i hear that rider has fooled around long enough playing the "i'll take it, i dont want it" game and is being passed up for eddie plessy (i believe is the name i recall), former offensive coordinator or something of the sort.
  12. if your LB's look in the backfield, they will be hurting. as a former coach, that is the last thing you want your players to do versus the wing-t. either read the FB or Guards.
  13. i hear former coaching great dave rider is coming back, and he's bringing jim hastings with him from jefferson county. i also hear the possibility of another jefferson county coach leaving with hastings.
  14. Meadows had 2 good ones last year at Jefferson County in Richie Marsh and Jonathan Meschendorf. Marsh is the DC at WB now, while Meschendorf handles the RB's another year at Jefferson.
  15. i may not be an expert, but im pretty sure that if i was coming into a new situation and planned on implementing a new offense plus a new defense, then i would MAKE IT POSSIBLE for me to have AT LEAST 2 weeks w/the kids. he knows NOONE, he hasnt even met all of the coaches for god sakes, let alone the players. like i said, in my opinion, the administration (which was only the principle and AD) made a mistake.
  16. knowing coach meadows, and the athletes he had at his disposal at alcoa in 2000 when they won the state title, i would put my money on the alcoa tornado offense of 2000. they took a ball control offense and averaged less than 3 minutes a drive, for the entire season. the state champion 4X1 relay team was in the backfield, plus they had 3-5 other guys would could flat out FLY!! scott also told me that their secondary wasnt too shaby that year either, only giving up 75 yards or more 1 time the whole season. they had 2 all state players in the secondary. one had 5 picks, the other 8.
  17. i hear that it's hard to "mold" a team when you're not around. only having 4 days of non-contact spring practice doesnt seem like a good way to get on the good side of the jeff county supporters either.
  18. western carolina, then transfered to ETSU where he is close to breaking the school record in the 100. at vanderbilt last weekend he ran a 10.48
  19. that may be true, but it certainly doesnt hurt your cause to be a good athlete. but it happens everywhere. people hate maryville for one simple reason, just like they hate the miami hurricanes and the new england patriots, because they win.
  20. the chargers were going to pick him regardless, b/c they knew they would get ALOT more than he was worth from a trade(as we saw w/the giants today). the chargers knew what they were doing, baiting the giants into giving up WAAAAAAAAAAY to much for eli.
  21. i would go to vandy, and be a bottom feeder in the SEC and obtain a degree that would GUARANTEE me a job anywhere. A degree from UT is a bottom feeder compared to a degree at Vandy.
  22. al davis jr recieved a scholarship to UGA for football and baseball, but opted to take his talent into the minor leagues.
  23. brad walker is an all around better player than dustin lindsey. walker's size is deceptive. VERY strong kid. lindsey has the size, but doesnt possess the break away speed that walker has. tough to choose, but i'd take walker as my RB. on the other hand, i'd take lindsey as my LB.
  24. meadows did take a near 0-10 team and turn them into winners in a hurry. at sequoya (?) high school. took them to their first ever playoff appearences and a 10 win season onto the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
