  1. 2 things college coaches look at first 1. size 2. classification in which you play. odds are, if you're playing 4 or 5A ball, you've got a MUCH better chance of playing at the next level.
  2. meadows will bring his winning tradition and carry it on at WB. WB will beat Alcoa and Maryville, will beat to Oak Ridge, and finish the season 10-0 in the drivers seat of the region. Alcoa will loose to WB and finish 9-1, and Maryville will finish 8-2, losing to WB and Alcoa.
  3. knoxville karns still runs the wishbone. if you have any questions or other wishbone related ideas, i'd call him up.
  4. this makes the jeff co. situation very interesting. smash, since you're such an insider, who's ahead?
  5. say what you will. but the guru knows all.
  6. i hear that meadows is having a hard time finding replacements for all the coaches who were upset w/the hire and left for greener pastures???

    South Doyle

julian from halls and reeves from william blount are two names i hear mentioned.
  8. doesnt surprise me. i wouldnt be too quick to think it might have been some administration and former co-workers in on the booing though.
  9. from what i hear, hutchins still lives in jefferson county. seems he didnt tell his wife he applied for the mcminn co job until he had excepted it?!?!?!?!?!? did hear he was the front runner though.
  10. oak ridge's qb isnt anything great, but he runs their offense very effectively. they loose booker and gulmire, at least word is gulmire was an 18 year old soph last season? and they loose the KIL defensive back of the year in black. tough loses for the cats. football is unpredictable though, you never know what may happen. you still have to have riverdale as your favorite in 5A for 04. i believe they had only 10 or so seniors from last years team.
  11. it's amazing how maryville city schools can hear of some great upcoming freshman players and see how easy it is for the school board to anex parts of the county to get those kids
  12. you've got to think that clark's dobyns-bennett indians will make some noise, at least until the semi-finals. jefferson county has some talented sr's this year, but dont know if the coaching situation will help out much. i hear there may only be 3 coaches from last years staff that will stay in tact. under the guidence of meadows, william blount would be the darkhorse of the east this year. should be interesting in 04
  13. i know WB had abundant talent in the soph. class last year. i know emert and know how hard he pushes the kids in the weight room. know that meadows is a winner and he'll bring a winning attitude to the program. these kids have the talent to win so games, they've just always been told they cant. interesting to see how the season unfolds. keep us informed. i've got my contacts, but there's none as good as "the voice"
  14. GovMan, where is all the info???
  15. great hire for WB. meadows has proven time and time again that he can win, and win quick. WB got a steal with this one, all while jeff co lost a great one. hear that the new coach at jeff co may be a former player made famous by his candid sports illustrated comment about a broken hand!!
  16. if carson newman offers him a "nice package," it wont be to play QB. they already have all SAC QB shane kelley, another back up QB who pushed kelley for the job, and former alcoa and etsu QB michael george is returning closer to home to play QB for the eagles. rouse has the best size out of all three, but is isnt big enough weight wise nor is he fast enough.
  17. as i said about mccord, these other guys are high school football players. just because you can out run the guys from carter and powell doesnt mean you can play at the college level. high school and college are on two totally different levels. rouse's future is in baseball.
  18. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, or lack of
  19. No surprise about it, the tornadoes of alcoa high school will be a force to be reckoned with for the next 3 or 4 years. they have very few upper classmen, and the young guns are as talented as any to ever step foot into the hallways up there. lindsey, warren, fiegler, sykes, white and hicks will make major noise in the next 2 years.
  20. you people have to realize that just because he played high school football at the "great and mighty maryville high school," doesnt mean that he can play college ball. college football, at any level, is a step above the rest talent wise. as placall just stated, mccord is a good high school back. odds are he will not get offered to play anywhere. he may though, be invited to walk on. but he will not get paid to play for anyone. my unbiased opinion.
