  1. Giles County has three worthy candidates, but two of them somewhat cancel each other out. Kamauri Turner is a senior playmaker that will go down as one of the best to ever wear a GCHS uniform. He has played QB/RB/WR all season for GCHS and has made several big plays defensively (when needed). The kid is an absolute gamer. Nearly 1,500 total yards and 18 total touchdowns. X'Zorion Randolph is a senior RB that will go over 1,000 yards rushing this season, but could likely have gone for 2,000 without Turner being such a force. He has 15 total touchdowns, including a 75-yard KO return. Amare Smith is a senior OL/DL who has been a four-year staple on the offensive line for GCHS. He is the captain of the offense and is a terror at the tackle position. He has a sack and two fumble recoveries in limited defensive snaps (when needed). He is the son of former GCHS and UT Vols basketball standout Tyler Smith. All three are tremendous young men and worthy of nomination, but I don't know if they will have the votes to get an official nomination, which is sad.
  2. If anyone is wondering the numbers. Franklin had 456 yards and 7 TDs.
  3. Ben Franklin won’t win it, but he will be invited to the finals IMO.
  4. Only took 8 replies before we finally got to the quasi-racist stereotype to appear! Well done to those that took the under 9.5!
  5. Second game Richland has lost by a 2-point conversion at the death.
  6. Lawrence County working with a full roster? Heard one of their best players moved back to the Midwest and then another is hurt?
  7. Going to be a tight one — regardless of which team wins.
  8. Who physically has the Cowbell in possession? Giles won the last game (2018) on the field 53-14, but LCHS technically "wins" the game after GCHS had to forfeit all their wins in Week 9 that year.
  9. Biggest thing is Waverly had no pass rush whatsoever.
  10. #1 McClure was serving a suspension last week. #21 is Meza and if you haven’t seen him play, he is worth the trip. Haven’t seen a player with game speed like that in a long time.
  11. Another Mezia TD. 43-21 MP leads 1:39 left in 3rd.
  12. I don’t know why Darien Mezia isn’t a top mid state recruit. This kid has the most speed I have ever seen in high school. He has 3 touchdowns in the first half and Mount Pleasant leads 29-14. Most underrated player in the state.
  13. That's the thing with Giles County. They are willing to take some lumps if it means getting better for the playoffs. Their region isn't the strongest, so they challenge themselves with tough non-region games. And the games make for really entertaining matchups. Went to Savannah last night — love going over to that part of the state. Fans and staff were amazing hosts. We hope to return the favor to y'all here at The Brickyard next year.
  14. Good win tonight for HCHS. Tough sledding in the second half for the Bobcats. Two very uncharacteristic fumbles cost them dearly. Otherwise virtually an even game/GCHS win.
  15. Should be a good one. Hardin County is a solid team, but Giles County always has a habit of just refusing to back down from a challenge.
  16. Shay Shannon is going to do a great job at Harriman. Has already led the Blue Devils to a state title as a coach. He's a tremendous team player and ultimate glue guy (even drives a bus route!)
  17. Giles County knocking off Page would be huge — even if their stud OL isn't playing. And 1A Richland knocking off 5A Lincoln County would be wild.
  18. When it's competitive, Giles County/Lawrence County's "Cowbell Game" is an iconic one. Rivalry finally back on this year. Haven't played since 2018.
  19. presumably they'll add a team, but right now still sitting at nine games.
  20. what's the story on the Tottenville game? Even for an out-of-state game, that's an unusual one.
  21. Giles County still seeking a 10th game.
  22. Not bad! Even though Fairview almost pulled off the comeback of all comebacks. Giles County had a huge win in a terrific back-and-forth game versus Power Center. Douglass demolished York and appears as if they might be the favorites from here on out. Should be fun inside the Murphy Center tomorrow!
