  1. Thank you for your kind words. Gavin is a top notch young man, who will be seen after almost every game taking pictures with future Mavs and giving high fives to fans in the end zones and on the sidelines when he gets to come off the field. I have been watching this kid for along time, and he hasn't changed. He runs downhill and at 6'2/225 he is like tackling a bus. He is surrounded by a great class, but I have been saying that for the last 5 years. Moog makes it a great 1-2 punch in backfield as he is 6/205, and runs a-lot like his brother did. The Mavericks have had a run of great classes go through. They need to avoid the injury bug, and cap this season off in Chattanooga. The Coaching Staff brings back Coach Lambert who will be a great addition to an already strong staff. Martinez gets the PWO from Ole Miss, and Vowell is said to be taking a visit to Big10 Iowa, who has already offered the 6'4 rec. OL will feature May, Bradshaw, Bullock, Murphy, and Clayton, and Davis, Powell is about 7 weeks away, and I got my season tickets ordered.
  2. Yes, Gavin visited Navy and committed on the spot is what I heard. What a great honor for him and his family. The Noe family are Maverick all the way. His dad played in mid late 80s and was a walk on at Tennessee, his older brother was an in credible offensive and defensive lineman for the Mavs just few short years ago, and now plays at Davidson in North Carolina. I know all of Maverickland is proud of Gavin, and we are all looking forward to seeing him and this team in just a few weeks. August 21 can't get here soon enough. GO MAVS
  3. Mavs in Flight, hope you are enjoying the weather. Things are definitely hot in East Tn. The weather is brutal, but Coach G and company have the guys coming in early in the morning. I come by a little after 6 am and the lights are on. 2023 Gavin Noe picks up another FBS offer from the world's greatest NAVY. He is getting some big attention. 2023 QB Walker Martinez traveled to Ole Miss this week for camp, and walked away with an invited walk on offer to Lane Kiffen's team. 2024 Nick Moog, Eli Nelson, and Matt Clayton are all getting attention at camps this summer, as well as 2025 legacy player LaRue, who ran an amazing time 4.5 at UT camp, and 4.6 at EKU camp. 2025 Cody Miller, Trent Strickland and Riley Wolfenbarger all have been doing the camp circuits all summer. Kickers Radclif, Nelson, and Valero have been on the kicking camp tour as well. The Maverick AD has been busy on twitter reporting all the camp information on these guys. He says the Mavs have 6 regular season home games this year, so that is helpful as well. No place like Maverick Stadium to get some home field excitement.
  4. I think it has to be Powell, as they are on the schedule and have been. Powell has gotten the best of the Mavs recently, but it has to have been some of the Best football games played in recent history. Even before the past 4 years, it was played on a yearly basis from 2009-2014 I think, and even before that it was played late 90's and early 2000s. Clinton hasn't been competitive for almost 23 years with AC, and currently decided to put the game on hold while they rebuild their team. Campbell Co played AC for 6 years 2009-2014 and went 0-6, and decided not to play again, so they can't really be a rivalry either. No offense to the cougars or dragons, but that is the story that is there. I wish they could all play again, but with school enrollments, AC is the smaller school by a few hundred, and never seems to get put in the districts with the other schools. I think they were 2-300 less than Campbell Co, and 100- 200 less than Clinton. As I understand , the Mavs enrollment is less now than it was 2 years ago, and they may be in AAAA again. Either way, I expect the Mavericks to play Powell for along time as the gates are good as they get, and the competition is incredible for the fans. Last year, the game was almost 3.5 hours and had 108 points scored. Both teams basically return, and I expect it to be a shootout for sure. The year before Powell got the win on the last play of the game, on an incredible scramble and throw. Fans should get their tickets early for this game for sure. Might bring a chair, as I don't think there will be a seat to be had.
  5. I saw them at UT yesterday. They played well, beat a Blackman team by 6 that looked really athletic. However, they played Anderson County later and got beat 48-0. The big rec for Bearden that came from Karns, looked good in the Blackman game, but was shut out against the Mavs defense. Bearden had at least 50 players at the tourney, and the Coach was plenty fired up at the QB on a few plays where Anderson County dbs just stepped in front of passes. Bearden will be fine, They have a solid skill set, and depth to help them play 6A football.
  6. Anderson County Code Blue 7v7 went to UT today and won the Gatorade 7v7 like you said. Coach Heupel was there to watch the whole day. As I understand it, he was very excited to see Anderson County beat a team from Maryland for the Championship and win the tourney in the indoor. Walker Martinez, Noe, Vowell and company put on a show and had Coach Heupel even line up for the team picture. The tourney had local teams like Powell, Catholic, Farragut and Bearden in it as well as some out of state teams. This team likes to compete, and they seem to be playing well.
  7. Mavericks Code Blue 7v7 team went over and won the University of Tennessee 7v7 tourney today. I heard Powell Catholic, Farragut, Bearden, and a ton of out of state teams were there. I know it is 7v7, but you still have to compete, and the Mavericks seem to be on to something.
  8. Barney always calls it like he sees it. I was there, saw some great catches from both teams, on both sides of the ball. I agree that AC looked polished in what they did. I was excited to see our kids compete, and noticed Maryville had about 60 skill players. Maryville has a speedy Rec that was impressive, someone in the stands said he may have been from Florida. Maryville qbs did a really good job on play action fakes, and threw the ball well. It was encouraging to see our guys out there flying around and breaking on routes. It got the Maverick fans a little more excited for what they have in store for the fall.
  9. That was an entertaining 2 hours. Maryville looked good again, and Anderson County looked good as well. Both teams hit targets down the field for big gains, and both teams found underneath routes they liked as well. I know they didn't keep score, as it is just two teams getting some practice reps in, but it was very entertaining watching both team have players that made some really nice catches. Martinez looked ready to go and had plenty of targets. It is always good to get over to Blount County and see all the new restaurants and businesses they have. Good Luck to the Rebels this season
  10. And there it is. 5Star Preps reporting that Coach Tony Lambert is back at Anderson County. I knew I saw him at practice. He hasn't changed a bit. 5Star says that he will be calling the defense. We have had an amazing defense the last 5 years, and I know Coach Lambert will keep that going. The Mavs have given up a few more points last season, but when Martinez got injured , it made the defense have to play more snaps. Coach Lambert was with the Mavericks in the late 90s and early 2000s. He is near and dear to the folks in the Anderson County Community. I hear that Coach Chadwell will make the move to the offensive side of the ball this season where he was when he came in 2013. The Mavs went to the triple when he called the offense , a lot like what Coastal Carolina does. This Mav fan is excited for this season to get here. I know they have a lot of work to do, but this team is very talented, and they have the staff to make a deep run.
  11. Looks like the Mavericks will be playing in the 2nd Annual 5Star Prep Jamboree at Carson Newman. I think the line up of teams includes Anderson County, Catholic, Elizabethton, Greeneville, Oak Ridge, and CAK. I am hearing that the Mavs may get matched up with Oak Ridge. That would be good match up for the Mavericks. Two Anderson County teams will make for a great crowd at Carson Newman that night. Saw where Gavin Noe , Bryson Vowell, Eli Davis, Walker Martinez, Braden Miller all attended camps this week from ETSU to Memphis and Kentucky to Indiana. I think they will begin this week at Maryville Tuesday night for some 7v7, and then head over to UTK for some 7v7 on Thursday. I saw where one of the Kickers earned his 4th star on Kohls Kicking Camp last week, ranked him #1 in the state of Tennessee for 2024 kickers. I am hearing that the Mavericks have at least 3 kickers, and they can all kick it in the endzone. I am hearing the Mavs have picked up a new coach, not sure what the hold up is for an announcement. I saw him at practice last week, but haven't seen anything official.
  12. Can anyone confirm a 7v7 at Maryville next week with Anderson County? Word around the water cooler is that the Mavs are headed over to get some work in with the Red Rebels. Mavs have gotten work at Alcoa in recent years, but I hear this year, they are headed to Downtown Maryville. If anyone hears the date and time, please add it on, so we can make the trip out to Mary-Vegas.
  13. I saw the lights on early this morning on my way in, and stopped off to see if practice was about to start. I counted 78 players, and Coach G had those guys on the move from group to group. I saw a couple of new faces out there coaching, and one coach that I recognized, but thought he had gone somewhere else. He is a Bigtime addition to the staff, but I haven't seen where he is official. I'll wait until I see something official , but if Coach Gillum got who I think he got, the Mavs added a fine staff member to the team. OL /DL guys looked huge, and Skill players all over the field. They had great energy while I was there. Ill check back in on them as we go through the week , and give ya updates on what I see.
  14. chs 1984,I remember that game. Wow , it was historic in so many ways. The Mavs have great respect for Cleveland High for sure. I think they still have a very good relationship with them currently as I know the Mavs have stopped by for pre game walk throughs on their way to the Chattanooga games they played there recently. I am sure with the current staff , that game has to pop back into their minds. As far as the Spring game, I was there. The Mavs divided up teams, and had a very competitive scrimmage. Bryson Vowell was certainly a star as he made several circus catches as well as his regular go routes that ended up in BIG plays for the Maverick offense. He has had several big schools offer him lately including BIG10 Iowa and Memphis. Martinez was on point all night hitting Allen, Miller, Braden, Russell , and West for several long throws down the field. Jermaine Allen was new to the team last season, but began the scrimmage with a 65 yard touchdown pass from Martinez. He has an offer from a KY school also. Moog, Noe, and Meier all took reps at the RB position, and all are big kids to bring down. Noe has picked up several D1 offers as well. I guess the big surprise to me was how big the offensive line looked. Davis and Clayton, have made the move to the offensive line, both are 6'3 and long armed players. Davis recruiting has picked up as well. He was offered by a Kentucky school last week. They linked up with Bradshaw, Mayes, and Nelson to give the Mavs a push up front. It was great to see Phillps and newcomer Small on defense making plays. All three kickers were at camp is what I was told, but all three saw action last season, and I am told one is driving the ball out of the endzone at practice daily. That is good news for the Mav Defense as it makes it tough on an offense to start at the 20 each time. Wolfenbarger, LaRue, Cole all took reps with the ones, and looked solid with the ball . Strickland was still on the baseball field, but I am betting he;s in the lineup for sure as a top notch skill player on the JV last season. I saw a young QB out on the field throwing some balls during the breaks, word in the stands was that he was a transfer from Georgia, but I didn't get his name. He was a tall kid with a big arm. Excited for the season, and the opener with #1 Powell. It promises to be a sell out crowd and a game for the record books as both teams return really talented teams. Last year's game almost gave me a heart attack as it was close for about three hours. Let's hope for a safe summer, and that the Mavs are ready for a run with this team.
  15. I stopped by practice this week, counted 63 players out for spring ball. Coach G had the offense moving using two groups against the defense. I saw all the familiar faces on the coaching staff with the exception of Coach Cross, who took a job in the business world. We wish him the best. Martinez was throwing the ball all over the field as usual, and had plenty of targets in Vowell, Braden, Phillips, West, Small Russell, and Miller. I did see Jermaine Allen out there on offense making a few catches as well. Gavin Noe and Vowell picked up offers from Memphis this week, and Vowell picked up the Iowa offer as well. Up front, AC looked as big as always, led by senior Mays, and juniors Bradshaw, Clayton, Howell, and Nelson. Sophomore Murphy looked to be getting some reps with the 1s as well. The LBs are the most impressive group with Davis, Meier and junior Moog. The secondary featured Hensley and Small, who promises to make a big impact this fall. The sophomore class is very good, with Cody Miller back with Wolfenbarger, Small, Cole and legacy player Strickland. Strickland was electric with the ball in his hands last year as a freshman. I look for him to have a breakout year this year as well. The talent pool is DEEP at AC. With over 60 out for spring, and 30plus incoming, look for the Mavs to dress around 90 again for the fall. 3 kickers, 1 in particular kicking the ball in the endzone from the 40, which is always a good sign. As far as AC athletics taking a dip, it hasn't happened in a while, and just from the limited amount that i hear at work, and asking around, they seem to be reloaded as they get one of the best in coming freshman groups including a freshman QB that everyone saw at Norris last season. He has two or three receivers that were really good for Norris last season, as they won their conference again. I know folks around AC would like to see a dip as they probably get tired of 5 straight region championships, but the Mavs look poised to keep reloading. I think they are 28-0 in region play the last 5 years. I am hearing they will have an addition or two to the staff and they are really excited to get whoever it is.
  16. Football Season, hurry up. Again, there is a lot of excitement in the community to see the 2022 version of the Mavericks. I have been up the last few Saturdays to watch the 7v7 guys absolutely throw the ball at will the last few Saturdays. Martinez is directing an older team of 7v7 , and incoming Freshman Stansberry is directing a young team and even getting reps with the older guys as well. He has a cannon, and looks ready to play on Friday nights right now. Martinez is recovered from a broken wrist and doesn't seem to miss a throw as I watched the last few weekends. He hasn't had his three big targets in Vowell, West and Russell due to basketball, but young guys like B Miller, and Moog have been big targets for him in their absence. Cody Miller looked good as well, and 2 time All State RB Gavin Noe have gained some good weight and look really good as well. Phillips and Braden were big contributors on Defense and will be back. Davis and newcomer Clayton have grown, both look to be around 6'4, they will be a welcome addition at the Y position as Shannon graduated. AD Terry tweeted that the Mavs Code Blue 7v7 won a tourney in Kentucky last weekend. Newcomers Hensley, Allen, Strickland, Small got a lot of reps in the secondary and will help with depth. Coach G has a large group of OL/DL guys as well. They looked like they were tearing apart 50 or so pizzas the other day after a lift session, lol there was pizza boxes everywhere. They bring back three starters there as well, and seem to have depth to do what they want. Moog and Noe in the backfield were hard to do anything with in the region last season, but the inability tp throw the football because on the injury to Martinez held the Mavs back a little last season. The attention to detail with the OL this spring and summer maybe the difference for the Mavericks this season. We will see if this extra attention can keep Martinez up and throwing the ball all over the lot, which should give Moog and Noe the lanes they need to get vertical. Both look like they weight 220 or so. Kickers are all returning so that is positive as well,. The schedule is the same as last season, except the Mavericks get 6 home games which is good as it is a tough place to get a win. Home Schedule includes State Champion Powell, South Doyle, GIbbs, Rhea Co, Elizabethton, and Bearden. Away games at Science Hill, Fulton, Carter, and Scott. They have won their region 5 straight years, but run into Greeneville and recently Elizabethton in the second and third rounds. Those are tough draws, but I think that is the way AC fans expect it,. I expect this season to be the same, and the second -third round game at AC will be epic like they have been for so long. I expect them to stay healthy and get better each week with this crazy good schedule. This should help them be tough to beat in the playoffs. Go Mavs
  17. Yes, the schedule stays the same. Hopeful to keep our QB Martinez healthy this season, he was on a roll (943 yards in 3 games) before a season ending injury sidelined him and Maverick High Scoring offense last season. Folks are spoiled sometimes though and won't be satisfied with another (5 in a row) Region Championship. The same folks said the Mavs played in a weak region in Chattanooga , but when TSSAA placed them back in Knoxville this season, they ran the table there as well and won the region again even with a freshman QB. That schedule is an indicator that the coaches think this is a solid program that can withstand injuries and still win region titles. Some folks think region titles aren't worth much, and that State titles are all that matters. We all want to win a state title, and I think the Mavs have the ability to do it. 5 straight region titles are check the box indicators that the program is solid and doing things at a high level. Teams like Maryville, Alcoa, Greeneville and Elizabethton have done it, but not many others around have won 5 straight region championships. This program is one of the top programs around and continues to make the playoffs and if they can keep their QB healthy, will make another run through the playoffs. They are loaded again with skill players, and welcome in Freshman QB, Blaine Stansberry. He is a big kid, with a cannon for an arm. Check him out on social media, and you will see he is the real deal. He will bring in a class of skill players, that are currently burning up the 7v7 circuit all over the state. Yes, the Mavs are shooting for a state championship again this season, and yes we all know Elizabethton and Greeneville are going to be really good again. I can't wait for August to get here. It is going to be another incredible year for the Mavericks. There is too much excitement and too much energy within the program for it not to be.

  19. Sorry, I didn't realize I would be missed. No-one replied much to my summer posts, but the CoachT crew has come alive as the Mavs have lost some close games. I have attended the 4 games, and I am not unimpressed with Mavericks. The kids have given all they have. The coaches seem to have a great game plan and it is executed for the most part. The Powell game was probably the best game they have put together. They hit big plays and drove the football, running and passing for almost the whole game. Hats off to Powell's players for finding a way to win that game. I think I heard Coach Lowe say his team would face a more multiple offense than the one they faced from AC. 300 + yards passing Science Hill was another great game to watch. The Mavs jumped out to a 2 TD lead, and Science Hills Coaches found a pass play that the mavs never picked up on and lost the lead. Science Hill did a great job of holding the lead when they got it. 300 + yards passing Fulton started the game off with an 80 yard fake punt for a TD, and the Mavs roared back with a balanced attack to win that game. I saw the Mavericks use a balanced attack in that game as well and the defense stopped the big plays from happening. 300+ yards passing The Mavs opened a can up at Rhea County with 20-0 lead in the first, only to let Rhea take the second quarter ball away and run the clock to 2 touchdowns, and then take the opening drive in to take the lead 21-20. Mavs responded well, scored again, but lost the possession time again to Rhea. Hats off to the their coach for keeping the ball away from AC. I don't think its depth, kids or coaches. I think they have played 4 really good football teams, and lost three of them. No excuses, just lost the game. I think they had over 300 yards passing. RB Noe has rushed for almost 700 according to 5 star. So the offense is clicking. The defense is giving up the points, but they are not a bad group. They make plays. It just hasn't been enough to win the three games they have lost. SD is another great opponent. Last year, it came down to the last play of the game. SD RB Gary reached the ball over the line for 2 pts, or SD loses that game. Great play by a heads up football player. Get your tickets early for this years game. I expect it to be another shootout for the front runner for the region championship.
  20. Just a quick fact for ya, AC had two OL down for the Powell game, and gave the start to two sophomore OL who played their first High School Friday night snaps against 5Star. Bigtime start for both these young men, hats off again to Powell for the 4th quarter win, but I have a feeling that Maryville has all their upperclass OL ready to go Friday. Lets go to week 2 in high school football. I CANT wait.
  21. Anderson County will welcome Science Hill to the BullRing Friday. Both teams come in with a week one loss, but I expect the Mavs to come in with a ton of confidence after bouncing a very talented Powell team from pillar to post before running out of gas in a four hour marathon game. Hats off to Powell, but I think any Powell person will tell ya, they got all they wanted Friday night. Mavs have shown they can line up and score from anywhere on the field. They threw for 300+ Friday and ran it for another 300. Defensively, they will have to tackle better Friday, and I bet the coaching staff will make that a point of emphasis. I was disappointed in the kick coverage, but pleasantly surprised in the other areas of special teams. The turnout of fans at the Powell game was outstanding. Energy was at 100 for the entire game, and that was fun to be a part of. This week, with the home crowd, I would expect the Mavericks to bring the energy level at 100 again, but they have to maintain it. They must play 4 quarters of football. They are explosive on offense, and can get some stops on defense. I believe this will be the first meeting between the two schools, and I will look forward to seeing the Science Hill fans in the stands. Science Hill fans will need to go 75N to Anderson County Exit 122 , and we will be about a half mile off the exit with a lot of restaurants to eat at. I talked to AD Terry Friday, and Kick off is at 7:30,

  23. Yall don't make this bad thread, this is going to be a GREAT Matchup. Both teams have skill players that all teams in the area would love to have. I think the game is the game of the week to watch. It will be broadcast on the bbb,com Channel 12 network out of Oak Ridge. IF you can't make it or are at a snooze fest of a game, flip it on and see the show. I think both teams are really good, and both staffs have their work cut out for them with game adjustments. Nolan is an anomaly, AC will have a plan I am sure. If you love being in an electric atmosphere, and a super competitive game, then this one is for you. I would expect all Oak RIdge to be there as well so you better get your tickets early. I heard AC has sold all 400 of their allotted tickets by Tuesday
  24. It has to be the game of the week in the area, no disrespect to others, but these two are right next to each other, have played in some incredible games the last ten years. I am sure both student sections will bring it, and the fan support for both will be just incredible. I have been to Powell AC at Powell for several games, and the electricity in the air is incredible. Both staffs do a great job preparing for the other, and put kids in opportunities to make plays. AC Fans , AD Terry has tickets on sale at AC if you want to get yours early. I would arrive early to get a parking place too as I think it will be one of the biggest crowds to watch a game at Powell. No score predictions from me, but I will predict if you are anywhere else other than Powell Friday night, you will miss a game filled with electricity and huge plays as both of these teams can do it. Match ups include QBs from both sides as both are very competitive. The Powell Receiving Corp and the Maverick Secondary will be FUN to watch. It was a battle last year. Powell QB got loose and threw one on the run to a sliding receiver on the last play of the game to win the game last season. Potts won't have an uncontested throw Friday night. He will have to put it where it goes, and the Powell Receivers will have to make a catch. The Maverick Passing game has been a show stopper all year in 7v7 and scrimmages. Now they do it with pads and for real. All State RBs Noe and Moog will make it hard on a D Coordinator to to just drop 7. Kicking game could play a part. I know the Mavericks have kickers and a punter, and I know Powell has a new kicker, so we will see how that plays out. Get your tickets early for this one.
