  1. Not better than the top three, but but better than just about everyone but the top 3. Think Crockett struggled in the Happy Valley tournament, compared to their capabilities. Anybody know why Edwards had been out up until then? As she goes, so goes the Lady Pioneers, because she gives them the ability to score without or free up Murr...........
  2. krich, didn't see you last night, but did see some good basketball. Betsy beat Boone by a wide margin, which I expected, but Boone didn't look quite as bad as I feared. Cloudland was outplaying a decent Crockett team when I left. Crockett looked like they were maybe trying to force things. Especially inside, and was really wanting to see Murr go off, like she did the last 3 games, but didn't happen before I left. Cloudland looked pretty smooth and relaxed, and were taking care of business.
  3. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Understand. I've said the same kinds of things before about other teams, but ONLY to my wife. Hope the players don't read this stuff anyway, but you have to be careful, cause sometimes it doesn't take much to disrupt team chemistry or damage a player's confidence.............. Plus, remember, it's way early in the season. They'll come around, and gel as a team after they've been in a few more battles.
  4. Why would you come on here and bash a young lady who's trying to do her best?
  5. Disappointed to read in the JC Press b-ball preview, that Jasmine Foster decided not to play this year for Science Hill...her presence under the boards will be sorely missed on The Hill. Also surprised to see the press had Boone picked as 5th or so, and Crockett next to last. Crockett will be a major player this season, I think.
  6. Only about 3 who saw any significant playing time last year, other than the 5 who quit and the 2 who graduated. 1 junior and 2 sophomores. Probably thought they would start by attrition. They will learn that in that system, nothing is guaranteed, and that you are given a break as a promising freshman, but much is expected of you after that first year, and no more free passes are given, not even on the small stuff...........................
  7. We're hanging in there, doing okay, thanks. Our tiny little angel is growing like a weed. Hope you and yours are doing well. Hope to run in to you at a game or two this year......... dog4life, you can always count on Boone girls to play hard. It's become their trademark. I'll still be going to games and pulling for them. That style of play is just fun to watch. Highlander, don't know which one is yours, but I know that the ones who left are great girls, and the ones who are still there are just as great. The first thing you learn there is to keep digging hard. That lesson pays off whether you're on the floor or off...............
  8. thanks. even though mine is one of the 5, I'll still be there pulling for the rest. They are all a good bunch of girls. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Thanks for the info. Looks to be a long year for the Lady Trailblazers. Have tried my best to persuade the 5 seniors to go back to the team, but they have their reasons, and are apparently content and at ease with not playing. Truth be known, they probably have this high school sports thing put more into perspective than some of us adults....... Good luck to your Lady Highlanders this season!
  10. Anybody see it, or hear how it went? krich, figure you would have info..........

  12. Good win for the Devils! Thank goodness MoWest's kicker didn't trip over a fallen player at the end of your game. Afraid Boone never recovered from that, and lost a game they should have won this week. Heard a rumor that Boone's Coach Jenkins had to coach from the press box, per Dr.'s orders due to high blood pressure that caused him trouble after the OT loss to MoWest................
  13. 27 rushes for -7yds for volunteer. it was a good night for jeremy hood. Blake Shropshire is turning into a monster. Watched him on one of the kickoffs, and he hit the biggest deep blocker for Volunteer, and blew him up. Knocked him about three yds backward on a full run. Boone won't have it nearly that easy next week, though.
  14. Crockett is improved. But I'll take East in this one.
  15. Gee, that's profound. Is this really barb, or is it Tom Cruise philosophying under barb's screenname?lol /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. The running backs are pretty good, but it has been the o-line that has made them look impressive in recent years. Sky Hicks looked great, then he graduated, then Cameron Jarrett looked great, then he got hurt, then graduated, then Mitch Masters looked great great, then he graduated. The only common thread has been a stout o-line. This one is good, but maybe not as good as they have been.
  17. Boone's line is decent, but not as good as recent years. Don't think they will blow Greeneville off the line.
  18. Don't know anything specific about this year's Greene Devil team. Maybe Barb and some of you guys can enlighten me. Boone looked decent last week against a smaller school, lot of mistakes, but that was expected with 2 sophomore qb's and playing their first game of the season. If they can eliminate the mistakes, and get some qb experience under their belt, they might fight for that 4th playoff spot. Looked to me like Connell was the better of the 2 qbs last week. Afraid they are going to take a whuppin' this week, though. Especially playing AT Greeneville. Maybe the experience will help somewhere down the road, though.
  19. Surprised to see those stats. -44 yds rushing? East must have had blitz practice Friday night. Must be the young players on O-line, I guess. That o-line last year manhandled a Boone line that had had its way up until then. Did the whole line graduate?
  20. If they struggled with Elizabethton, they had sure better improve before MoWest gets there. I'll pick MoWest.
  21. Don't know about your "grapevine", but have talked to all 5 girls individually, and none are considering returning at this point. Haven't given up hope yet, though. I will continue to try to talk to them. BooneHoops, as far as the team to beat, they won't be that even with the girls returning. D-B, Science Hill, and TN High will be the teams at the top, and Central has greatly improved also. You're right about the chemistry, though. The 5 that quit have a comraderie that most teams would love to have. (I know, because some combination of those 5 are at my house every day). They have stuck with each other through this ordeal, and a lot worse. Since my daughter is one of the 5, I thank God for the other 4 daily. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. I don't foresee any of them returning. They seem relieved right now. Don't know if that will last or not. I tried to talk them out of it, and have tried to talk about it with a few of them since, but I don't think any have changed their minds at this point. I could care less whether they play ball or not, although I have dearly loved watching them for many years. I just hope they are happy, whether they play or they don't. No, none of them are transferring anywhere.
  23. I have a feeling Betsy will be fine come regular season.
