  1. Shouldn't you guys be on Page 20 or so of this thread by now? I was beginning to wonder if the new staff was putting the brakes on the whole Coach T thing. One of my Black and Gold buddies tells me Sullivan North is already considering how soon they'll need to put in the "Ketron" 8th graders so the score doesn't get out of hand. EEEK!
  2. O.K...... from from what I have seen (jamborees and scrimmages), I'll throw a prediction in: Sullivan North 28 Volunteer 12
  3. Man, this is a hoot! Not sure I believe the Mr.III name...who knows it may be legit. If it is, WaCo, I honestly would avoid your buddy Coach V. He scarrry. Hoop baby, your my hero! One of my buddies who witnessed the backwards ride "through" Hawkins County told me the great story, to which you referred to above. I didn't know he was named Bucky though. Do you think Bucky knows JaCo? I honestly follow these threads like a soap. (yes, I have no life) I'm not even from this area originally, but I find myself unable to look away... you know like a bad car wreck. As far as the secret identities goes, just from the Volunteer thread and less frequent D-B threads, I have figured these out - skunk, stokomo, Letsgoirish, satchump, BP4138, CHHS72, Chparent, falconfan84, The Tollah, Y1043. As far as WaCo goes.......he might as well be Batman.
  4. Good post. Volunteer does have their work cut out for them next season. DB will be about the same next year at best. As for Science Hill, well, they'll be the best in NETN again. EEK! And as for South, they will be huge and very athletic for the next 2-3 years.
  5. I never said this was the best South team. Read a little more careful. I said "I have never seen a South team play that well." Which I haven't.
  6. In all fairness, Falcon faithful. The South team is a very different team now. Losing to South is not a disgrace, doubleplay. You should just pat yourselves on the back for getting the victories. South lost nine or so games this season by 5 points or less - three or so in overtime. If you want to put DB down, don't do it at South's expense. I caught a couple of the games at Viking Hall tonight, and can tell you that no one in their conference wants any of them right now. I saw TN High beat East and South beat DB. South was by far the best team there tonight. They won every aspect of the game against the Indians. I have never seen a South team play that well. The Vikings get 'em Wednesday, I believe. We'll see if the Rebels let down or not. Good luck to Volunteer in your tourney and South in theirs. As for Art...I too have wondered where he went. Has any one seen WaCo either? Guess they are waiting on the '05 pigskin season....
  7. Maybe I jumped to conclusions on his identity, BUT, dafuture used to have a picture of your Coach Sampson next to his signature. I guess he just reeeeally likes the coach.
  8. bud, As you guys push the button on this kid, SHWaxin, please realize we are also technically breaking the rules by even relying to this off subject post. But, DaFuture is intentionally bring the trash talking to himself. He likes to stir it and that's his perogitive as long at the modrators keep allowing it. DaF sometimes sticks to the sport but often talks trash right with these kids. Have I done it too...yes, but I'm not a coach or ref that holds a position that is supposed to be above all this hoopla. Next time a meeting is held in the model city please ask the Kingsport school board and school administraters how they feel about a D-B teacher and girls basketball coach talking trash like a 15 year old on this board. Heck, DaF isn't even funny like WaCo...
  9. You assumed wrong. dafuture is on the girls coaching staff at Dobyns Bennett. You know what they say about assuming...don't you?
  10. VicKing, Who plays who after Round 1 here? How is the bracket laid out? The four winners are likely (not for sure): Sevier over Bluff City Robinson over Blountville Science Hill over Chuckey Doak Colonial Heights over Vance Who'd play next? Thanks.
  11. This orangeandwhite kid is obviously trying to be silly. Just ignore him.
  12. Omar Wattad is the best Sophomore I have seen this year in Tennessee.
  13. LOL! You're one to talk. (girlie coach- )
  14. Man! I gotta make the game, next time the Tribe and Vikings play. Can I pull up a chair courtside and turn it toward the crowd? Sounds like fun!
  15. At first glance, I thought that was Irish....then realized that guys is way to small to be Irish. Must be Roddy Miller...
  16. Since Stokomo added to the thread, it got me thinking.... Omar is a very talented player. I've seen him several times over the last two seasons. And if you've seen Science Hill play, you know they are a very good TEAM. They don't win with Omar vs five. Ask the D-B guards, I bet they have respect for the S.H. TEAM. Stokomo is right, we gotta build the local kids up. I personally may have fell short in this in the past but I've seen the light . I know I'll get smacked around for this but here it goes. I hope this comes across a constructive and not putting the kids down; that's how its meant. I do believe I understand some fans' thought pattern on Omar's game and shot selection, even though it does not seem to be expressed in a nice constructive way previously here on CoachT. Here's where I get smacked ---> Omar's weakness (even though the Hilltoppers often rely on this) is his tendency of putting his head down and driving for a shot at any cost, no matter the situation. Stokomo, he honestly reminds me of your local boy, J. Frazier. Frazier is another very good player, but tends to put his head down and force it too often as well. All in all, I hope both the boys go on to play college ball, with Omar of course having two more years on the Hill to improve. Skunk makes good points also. AAU is very thin in Northeast Tennessee. This just may mean the local boys don't get the exposure. They won't get to play the better competition either (except when D-B get's their annual battle with White Station in the playoffs - EEK!) I read Omar plays in Nashville..? I guess he has family there, but 99.9% of the other players in Northeast TN would need a local team to play. Gomab obviously is very knowledgable and is well thought of. But, it does not neccessarily mean a kid cannot be successful in Tennessee high school basketball and possibly play some college ball without being on AAU the talent lists. Stokomo, why don't you again help our boys and get the AAU ot YBOA thing going again in NETN. You da man! I'm rambling now, rambling, rambling....
  17. Nice win, Indians. There's something about that dome, I guess. By the way, I don't wear the maroon and grey, but whomever was disrespecting Mr. Van Huss earlier... please don't. Whatever side you sit on, he was a legend. I was there at Buck's 1000th win. Still have my button. The title of this thread does have me a bit bewildered.... and I am surprised to hear all the smack and jibberish on here from a D-B teacher and assistant girls basketball coach - dafuture4all. For future reference, dafuture, from what I can tell the position of "hander-outer of witty smack" is filled by Waco, while the obscure fact king is Art. Skunk is the neutral as possible voice of reason. Me, I'm the nobody middle Tennessee transplant who enjoys a good stir.
  18. You make a good point there. Pitts is a heck of a coach. BA also does have a very skilled and balanced team. It's not all about 1 player for sure. The team also looked deep, as a private school should be (please do start on the private vs public thing). But, I also can't remember any plays set up for Turner. He is an offensive rebounding machine and made his own opportunities. Thanks for making the trip, BA. Science Hill and Dobbins Benet just aren't in your league this year.
  19. How does U N A K A expect to do in the Volunteers tournament next week? You guys gonna cake walk through the field there? How bad will it be? Looks like you get Sullivan South first and after putting the Rebels down you'll most likely get the Morristown East Hurricanes.
  20. Very nice posts, skunk. You explained it better than I did. And for everyone else, the Nashville paper was wrong. Trust skunk, from what I heard he had good looks at the book. Let's break this one off guys, and time will only tell.
  21. The Ashworth kid can't be expected to be back 100% yet and even if he is, he hasn't been a dominant player in the past. Needs to get stronger inside and more aggressive. The best, and most aggressive, player on Sullivan South's team is 6'3" post player, Beau Hauldren. If you don't get a body on him, he'll hurt you. As far as South's guards go, not very good ball-handlers. Aaron Willey has been playing well for the Rebels inside also. I think he's 6'3" or a little better. The Conkin kid is a good shot if left open; tends to force some ill-advised shots however. North is pretty weak across the board. Their point guard will penetrate and draw fouls. The do hustle and play hard. South doesn't, nor does North, have the athletes that Volunteer has.
  22. Thanks scrubber. I was starting to regret even opening the can o' worms. Honestly, I hope the kid proves me wrong. Hope he does go all the way. I was simply stating on the night I saw him, he did nothing beyond what any tall guy should do. I also had no idea who Turner was at the time, but a football buddy of mind enlightened me. Great for him! I too have seen a great deal of pro, college and good high school games, but that obviously makes none of us (including me) an expert. My job actually covers the entire state of TN and parts of surrounding Southeastern states and I see alot of games. I have also lived in Memphis, Gallatin, Knoxville, Athens, and now <somewhere in NETN>. That night, Wright was just the tallest kid on the court. If Wright weren't 6'9", he wouldn't be recruited, IMO. I feel the same way about Peter John Ramos, who played for Puerto Rico at the Arby's last year, the P.R. Olympic team that beat the US after that, and is now with the Washington Wizards. Ramos is only a player because he's tall. Ramos' game was weak. Now HE was real slow and lazy. I'll give you this, Wright is 1000 times better than Ramos and he IS in the NBA. So, if that's the standard, I guess he will make it to the NBA. I'll move on now...have a great season Brentwood Academy and I'll follow the news on Wright.
  23. Not shocked, just a little surprised somebody so bluntly put it out there for the lily-white to try to ignore or deny again.
  24. Well, I am not one of you guys. And North is not the team to knock off Tennessee High. The Vikings will get it handed to them when they host the Arby's after the Christmas holiday.
