Gotta agree wiht Gomab's post - Very Overrated. Saw them at the Holiday Classic at Volunteer High School. They did squeak out a win over Volunteer and win the tourney, but they were not a better team. Volunteer was w/o their star point guard and didn't play very well vs. Brainerd. Brainerd is top 30 at best.

I 've seen a little coach that seems to scare some of the refs, especially the younger ones. his presence alone "works the refs". He's Coach Bayless at Happy Valley in Northeast Tennessee. He's at least 70, maybe 5'5", but is intimidating. kinda that a "living legend". heck he's probalby got 800 wins to prove it.

It'll be a battle until the 4th quarter. Alcoa by 9.

Skunk got a question. what's the wurd on the stud basketball player that is not on the bball team anymore. this is the same kid that quit football this year in the playoffs. i don't want to use any names here. since he's a junior, is he working to get back on the teams or is he transfering somewhere else to play? i hate to hear of kids missng out on what could be a full college ride. i have been told the kid is extremly talented. maybe even Div 1 prospect in football.

thanks Waco i thought so. my keyboard seems to have grammar problems too. is there a Dobyns Bennet thread? i had heard ther was another big kid that is playing on the freshman team that transfered in with the Powell kid. think he'll see varsity action soon too? maybe this is the bunch to compete again with the schools in middle TN and out west and give the northeast some respect from the pollsters, etc. i also read the article on the coacht homepage about small schools not getting looks from college recruiters. does Dobyns Bennet and Science Hill get there share of scouts visiting? Science Hill and Dobyns Bennet are about the only Northeast Tennessee athletic programs that i had heard of when i lived in middle Tennessee.

iamoz, I'm sure you've figured this out but... Here's a bug for you. West, East, etc mean different things to different people. Even though we all know the real West, is in Morristown.

waco isn't the Powell kid's name - Reed? Rumour is his younger brother will be transfering from Colonial heights to Dobyns Bennett when he reaches 9th grade like his brother did. I've been told he may be better than his older brother. looks like Dobyns Bennett will be big for the next several years too.

Got to see the Falcons play during the holiday tourney. you have a very underrated team. I only hope your kids are able to ignore the adults and the drama in the stands. from what I'm told this is one of the better teams Volunteer has had in a while. don't allow the stuff outside the lines to derail you. I've seen it happen before. I actually read your entire thread this week. seems like you get a great deal of people popping in and popping off. you guys seem to accumulate crazies like waco, indian66 and rainman. waco does make me smile however. with the Region's basketball being down, the Falcons have a chance to shine and gain momentum, take advantage.

good post tiger, but how long does a coach have to produce a winning record before getting the boot? what if the coach is new to a school with a doormat program? sometimes patience is order. sometimes they should be showed the door.

yes. they are underpaid. if u figured out how much they make per hour considering the huge hours most put in, i bet it wouldn't be a lot. i have to believe many coaches dont do it for the $$$, but for the love of the game
