  1. I wasn't lumping you into the comment, just using you as a sounding board. Die hard fan I agree with your sentiments.I think the point can be made that any quality or style of play-by-play better serves a rural area where many listen for their loved ones name to be called.
  2. Thanks, ocrebel for the kind remarks. We all do our best to cover Weakley & Gibson Counties and all of West Tennessee on our "family" of stations. From The Pre-Game Meal through the Scoreboard Show we think we have the most complete coverage. What is the best is a judgement call by listeners. I would encourage people who like what is being done on 93.7, 97.7, & 101.3 to write or e-mail the stations and let them know.
  3. Hey Robin, I didn't know we weren't taken seriously by sports fans. I guess we should just shut down or maybe play rock music all night. Oh but that's already being done isn't it!
  4. Sportsradio, oh talented "play-by-play" voice of the Tide/Pioneers, it's so nice to debate on a level of knowledge rather than opinion. I will certainly agree with what you say.
  5. I have to disagree with you my friend. If you look at the teams that have beaten Obion Co's opponents there's no question who's played a tougher schedule. McKenzie-Lone loss to Camden-unbeaten Ripley-Lone loss to Haywood-unbeaten Covington-Losses to Germantown, Millington, & Haywood Westview-Losses to Milan & Crockett Co.-both unbeaten The Won-Loss records are deceiving when comparing the quality of the opponents.
  6. Yes this is South Fulton's homecoming.
  7. If you are in West Tennessee, tune in to 93.7, 97.7, or 101.3
  8. Well said my fellow fan of the crimson feathered ones!
  9. No percentage, just generating an audience. And remember, you heard it here first! The "Pre-Game Meal" Fridays 6:30-7:00 on 101.3 & 97.7.
  10. Should be a pleasant homecoming for Ced Hampton anyway!
  11. And for Rebel fans who yearn for play-by-play, take your headset with you! Our friends at 93.5 in Covington will carry the game in its entirety beginning at 7:15. Yes video may have killed the radio star, but updates haven't killed play-by-play! On your way listen to The "Pre-Game Meal" Fridays 6:30-7:00 on 101.3 & 97.7(which comes in very well in Covington)
  12. VO, thanks for the kind words. Working real hard to provide a quality program before game broadcasts. By the way, I've been meaning to tell you I was at the McKenzie game and you did sound good on the PA. You are still the VORebs! "The Pre-Game Meal", Fridays 6:30-7:00 on 101.3 & 97.7
  13. Oh heavy one. Good to hear from you. Thought tax season had done you in. Tell The Wizard I won't let "The Pre-Game Meal" interfere with basketball. As far as 13AA goes, look for Eddie Suiter and the OC Lady Rebels to challenge this year for real.
  14. My oh My. I started this thread nearly four weeks ago and it's taken on a life of its own! And now we are here at the first, live play-by-play of Rebel football this year. I can't promise that Paul will not be biased but at least you can hear every player's name mentioned at some point in time and not a soul from Gleason/Greenfield/Lake Co./South Fulton/ or even Union City! Oh and by the way, tune in for: The Pre-Game Meal, Friday nights 6:30-7:00 on 101.3 WCMT & 97.7 WTNE
  15. Not disagreeing with your argument but Westview High School is in Martin. Memphis has Westside & Westwood but not Westview.
  16. I was really hoping to keep the Carroll County schools together. Manassas has certainly created some logistical problems. Your scenarios assume an even 7-7 split. What about a 6-8, North/South split with Manassas, TCA, JCS, Fayette Ac., Middleton, & Halls in the south & the north comprised of Carroll, Weakley, Obion, & Lake counties?
  17. Thanks for the lead-in VO and you can hear live play-by-play of Obion Central and Westview Friday night beginning at 7:00 right after "The Pre-Game Meal" on 101.3 WCMT!
  18. Union Citians going to Lake Road & Ridgemont has been going on nearly 20 years but the athletes always returned to UC for high school. I believe a few are now going on to OC for high school but other than an unusually small senior class this year enrollment is not off that much. They may not remain Class A for long.
  19. McKenzie 28 Obion Co. 7 Cody Cook scores twice, once on offense & once on defense. Drew Hayes connects with Greg Pruitt through the air for a TD and RB Horton scored the other. OC got on the board last with a 44 yd pass from Garrett Grady to Ashton Kendall.
  20. You must be a Choctaw supporter. Big rivalry yes. Best game, not yet. I'm going to throw out TCA-West Carroll as a "best" game. War Eagles are looking for payback from last year.
  21. I would just like to see the Rebels play a Crockett Co or a Jax SS,someone like that.. Looks like you'll get some of your wish. Looks like 7AAA starting next year will have Crockett, Haywood, & Dyersburg. Region's gonna be awfully tough. #4 team from that region will be darned good year in & year out.
  22. Interesting point that I'm not sure about. Someone who knows for sure please post. Will teams electing to play up affect the "bubble" teams like Peabody or does it just imbalance the classes a little? I assumed the classifications were set and playing up just subtracted from one class total and added to the next.
  23. 101.3 carries a mix of Westview, Dresden, Greenfield, & Gleason with one play by play and one game with updates each week. 97.7 carries either Trenton or Gibson Co. & 93.7 has Milan exclusively. Scores from throughout West Tennessee are given on each broadcast & afterward on West Tennessee H.S. Scoreboard w/ Frank Underwood on all three.
  24. If Peabody had fallen to Class A it would've been a no brainer with them joining UC in 8A and shifting the Carroll county schools to 7A and being a 7-7 split. With 13 class A teams I see McKenzie as the wild card. Do they keep the three Carroll countians together or send the Rebels west. I think Perry Co. will go across the river and play with the schools they play basketball with. 7AA become a Gibson/Weakley affair "sounds great for 101.3 & 97.7" with Milan, Humboldt, Peabody, Gibson Co., Westview, & Dresden. 6AA has only five teams in this scenario with Huntingdon, Camden, Riverside, Adamsville, & USJ. They might find a school across the river that would travel to avoid the new AA "alphabet schools"!!!! AAA now would have 14 teams and if they split 7-7 I see Haywood joining Dyersburg in 7AAA with Dyer, Obion, Crockett, Covington, & Ripley. "Tough region" 6AAA would have Liberty, Southside, Chester, McNairy, Lexington, Fayette-Ware, & Bolivar. 7-4A would drop to five teams with Brighton added to JCM, Northside, Munford, & Hardin Co.
  25. 101.3 is the new frequency for WCMT in Martin. We have a new tower and have increased to 25,000 watts. The West Tennessee H.S. Scoreboard is simulcast on 101.3, 97.7 in Trenton and 93.7 in Milan each Friday night after the conclusion of the broadcast on each station. I've also begun an evening show, "The Pre-Game Meal" 6:30-7:00 on 101.3 & 97.7 prior to game broadcasts. We cover all seven West regions outside Shelby county on the show.
