  1. Smokey has a point. Smith was more deserving than anyone else last year and he finished the season with nothing more than a GOLD BALL and a PHAT RING. Lake should expect the same outcome. Brewer is a heck of a player and is very deserving of the award...he wins hands down.
  2. That would be great if SouthSide actually played White Station in the championship game. It was actually like this SouthSide vs. Bolviar AA Bolivar won NorthSide vs. WS AAA WS won If you can't get the facts right, you shouldn't post...obiviously the team that won is the best...or was the best on that night.

    WILLIE KEMP

I agree, Willie is the best PG in AA. However, if he doesn't get some support to pick up the slack when Lake leaves he will be in the same boat as Giles County was this year. From the sound of things, they could be getting a very good big man (Chism) that will more than compliment Willie. I knew last year when Giles faced them in the sub-state that the whole state could expect great things from them this year. My hat goes off to Wille and the crew.
  4. I know...but if Giles County couldn't be there, I have to root against the team that put them out....LOL
  5. White Station hasn't beaten NorthSide yet. One time this year, Bradley could say they were better than White Station...wait til after tonight before you talk smack.
  6. There have been great teams before Tyler and there will be great teams after him. Don't get me wrong, he adds a level of athletism to the game that no one else in the region or district can add. Giles will learn to win again with the talent they have as they did in 94-95. I just wish that Coach Holt would learn to make those boys play a controlled offense. They could shock so many teams by coming out and setting screens and freeing the shooters...I know that I would be impressed. I wish Tyler the best of luck where ever he goes.
  7. Bolivar will not be denied. Willie and Brian are bringing the house down on Chism and the chumps. The final will be 20+.
  8. Evidently, Jamont is all that....why else would the #1 high school basketball team be recruiting him. He has actually committed if I remember correctly. Where is Delk playing next year...oh thats right, he will be right there at Jackson NorthSide reading about Jamont and his new team in the USA Today.
  9. The kid has a temper and an attitude like I have never seen at the high school level. He hates to be foulded and when someone does lay a foul on him, he gets mad and throws little fits...remember the region tourney. Numerous times I have seen him disagree with what Coach Holt was wanting the offense to do and he simply stood on the side line and didn't move. He has all of the talent anyone should ever need, but let me promise you this, no college coach will tolerate his little temper tantrums (except Buzzy Poo). Thats what I am talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I didn't say he has a bad attitude...he simply has an attitude. You should know what I am talking about....everyone in Giles County knows what I am referring to.
  11. WOW, can you imagine the attitude and ego on the Oak Hill team if Tyler follows Jamont north for their senior seasons. That coach will definately have his hands full of talent and attitude.
  12. Place Tyler Smith in a high school such as Bolivar, Ridgeway, White Station, Bradley Central, where there is a coaching presence and no one in the state could stop this young man. With that being said, Brandon Wright has a better all around game as Neely said earlier. He and Tyler faced off twice this year and it was about even, but the smoothness in Brandon's game is way above Tylers and the kid is only a sophmore...scary. As for Willie Kemp...no guard in the state is on his level...the kid is a Balla. 18 assists in one game...amazing. Many nights, he leads his team in points and assists. The kid traveled 3 hours to scout a Sycamore team that they were going to face in the sub-state...it doesn't get anymore involved than that. Oh and I forgot to mention...he is a sophmore as well. Tennessee basketball will be at no loss for stars next year, even if Tyler does leave for Oak Hill (I hope he does).
  13. LOL @ Blacksheep....elmer matta...in 7 years of high school it looks like you would have learned something in English class. SouthSide and Chism win this game by 5.
  14. I can see why you went to SouthSide for 7 years...from looking at that last post. You obviously don't have a clue who or what you are talking about. You need to come back down to this place we call earth and try posting something intelligent.
  15. Tyler definately needs to get out of Pulaski. He needs coach that will get in his rear when he slacks...quiet frankly, it isn't going to happen at Giles County. I would hate to see what a good coach could get this kid to do...he could possibly be number one in the nation by graduation, if he has a coach. I am a huge GC fan, but it is time for this young man to move on. I have seen numerous times in Giles County history when very very talented players never made it out of this town. The 94-95 team was loaded with talent that could have been on Tylers level if they had been granted a good coach. Nothing against Coach Holt, but very few colleges play the kid of offense that he does...streeball!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. PattieMC...the reason Giles County lost is because the district is so weak. They had not played a team of that caliber on a regular basis....and by the way....where was Marshall County. I thought they had a sub-state game at home...I guess they got lost on the way home from Montgomery Central. Before anyone post on the first comment it was a JOKE. Giles County was ill prepared...so now we are sitting at home while other teams are fighting for the hardware.
  17. Wade, I am right there with you. Last night was sort of frustrating as a fan. When they should have been setting up their offense, they were throwing oops to Tyler. I believe there were many lessons to be learned last night. It will be interesting to see if anyone takes notes and makes the most of the situation next year. From my understanding, the elementary feeder schools are going to be sending some pretty good talent to the high school next year...lets see if it is put to good use.
  18. Glyndon...I was asking myself the same questions after the game last night. They did look clueless, except on the oop plays and they were pretty. Everyone is talking about the 9 three point baskets, but what they aren't talking about is the percentage that Giles County hit....probably close to 9-30. They took a tremendous amount of shots from the outside and when they did go inside and get fouled....well we know the rest of that story. The CATZ did not look prepared mentally. Maybe some notes were taken last night, so if it ever comes to this again, someone will know what to do.
  19. Wade...Holla at me...I may go to the Bolivar game too. I will definately be going Saturday.
  20. SycamoreBBALL...try Hooked on Phonix....it really works. As for Bolivar, I don't see anyone stopping them this year. They have pretty much dominated all 2A teams that they have played. Willie Kemp is probably the 2nd best sophmore in the state right behind Brandon Wright. I plan on making the trip to the 'BORO' for the championship game...should be a good one...no matter who is playing.
  21. Dwolford...talk to me about winning big games when SouthSide gets drilled in the state...it is going to happen, then we can say they don't deserve it. Your post is garbage. For a team to make it as far as Sycamore, Giles County, Corey Brewer High School and have an unfortunate night, then someone like you tell them that they didn't deserve to make it to the state is a disgrace to high school basketball. Like the old saying goes...Anyone can be beaten on any given night. It happened to at least two of the schools mentioned above. You guys can talk all the smack you want about Tyler, everyone knows he has an attitude, but when it is all said and done, he will be the one we watch on Saturday and hear Dick Vitale say, "He's awesome BABY!!!!".
  22. How can you say Giles didn't deserve it. These young men played their butts off this year. Granted they may not have been as talented as last year, they gave it their all. For you to sit here and say that this team didn't deserve state is a pure disgrace to the game. A team goes 28-6, two losses in the Huntsville tournament, 2 losses to Bradley (who by the way are headed to state), 1 loss to a PR team, and one loss to SouthSide (only 2A team to beat GC in almost 2 years) and you say they don't deserve it. You need to WAKE UP.
  23. SouthSide is an awesome team. Giles Couty appeared as though they weren't ready to play. You can't win many games when you shoot 11-21 from the foul line and 8-40 from 3 pt. land. That last number was a stretch....but probably not much of a stretch. In a game of this proportion and all the rest of the season rides on one game...you have to bring your "A" game...Giles County didn't bring it...SouthSide did.
  24. LOL...that was a good one. But we know that IF is not going to happen...so find something else.
  25. So pretty much...you like everything about SouthSide. You could have made that post much shorter by saying...YOU LIKE SS CHANCES. There were alot of IF's in that last post. IF A FROG HAD WINGS HE WOULDN'T....well you know the rest of the story.
