  1. Claiborne\CG should be a great game. Claiborne seems to be playing a lot better right now. They may be getting into their groove, but it may be too late to catch CG. They will need some help. PF is hosting GP, another a big rivalry game in the district. PF needs to win to hold home court and stay in the district race. GP is trying to steal one on the road and climb back into the hunt.
  2. PF lost to Cocke Co. last night 75-62. Hopefully a good wake up call before GP on Fri.
  3. Updated standings, please make corrections if these are wrong. CG 4-0 (beat Union, Claiborne, GP twice) PF 1-0 (beat Union) UC 2-2 (beat Claiborne, Rutledge;lost to PF, CG) CHS 1-2 (beat Rutledge; lost to CG, Union) GP 1-2 (beat Rutledge; lost to CG twice) RHS 0-3 (lost to Claiborne, GP, Union) Still early, but district competition is about to heat up.
  4. PF beat Sevier Co 56-53 Union beat Rutledge by 6 or 8 I think
  5. I couldn't disagree more. I played three sports in high school and still got a college scholarship to play basketball. Todd Helton played football and baseball in the SEC and turned out OK. Bo Jackson handled played professional football and baseball. If a kid has the ability to play in college, and the work ethic required, then playing multiple sports will not keep them from playing in college. You may also find it interesting that a lot of college coaches would rather have a well rounded athlete. It is high school, the best days of their lives, I say let them play everything can possibly can. It is still possible to have a sport you concentrate more on and focus on more in the summer. Just my opinion and we know what they say about opinions.
  6. That seems like an awefully disrespectful statement towards Pigeon Forge.
  7. PF lost to Perry Co. Central, KY (eventual champs) by 4 in the semi's and then beat a good Beth Haven, KY team by 3 to finish 3rd in the Smoky Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg. PF went 2-1 at the Disney tournament in Orlando. Lost the first game to eventual champions Johnstown Monroe, OH, then responded by beating Western Hills, KY by 8 and Forks, WA by 1 to finish 5th. Overall a good Christmas for PF, 4-2, with both losses to the eventual champs of the tournaments. Next game is against Sevier Co on Fri. I think more people will begin to talk once the district race begins.
  8. Unaka lost to Tournament Champion Perry Co. Central, Ky. 71-64 They lost to East Ridge, Ky. 50-48 They beat Gatlinburg-Pittman 51-49
  9. Good win for Rutledge against a good Seymour team. PF beat East Ridge, KY last night, 79-62, in the first round of the Smoky Mountain Classic at GP. PF plays Perry Co. Central, KY tonight at 8:30 in the semifinal game.
  10. PF beat Cosby last night 78-61 @ Cosby, to hand Cosby their first loss of the season. PF played real good against a VERY good Cosby team. PF turned it up in the second half outscoring Cosby 49-27. Brown led PF with 18, Gibbs had 17, and Woodrick had 15. Manning 18, Blakely 14, and Rone 13 to lead Cosby.
  11. PF played very poorly at Greeneville, they played very well against Cosby. PF is playing a lot of kids that have very little experience in varsity games. They are going to be a little up and down for a while. I was very impressed with both Greeneville and Cosby. I think the only thing that can keep Cosby from Murfreesboro is Cosby. If they continue to play together and unselfish they will be extremely tough to beat. Good luck to both teams.
  12. PF lost to Greeneville Fri. 75-58. Didn't play particularly well. Greeneville has a solid team. CG beat GP in a close game at GP. Union shocks Claiborne at Union. Of course, anything can happen at Union. CG 3-0 (beat Union, Claiborne, GP) PF 1-0 (beat Union) GP 1-1 (beat Rutledge; lost to CG) UC 1-2 (beat Claiborne; lost to PF, CG) CHS 1-2 (beat Rutledge; lost to CG, Union) RHS 0-2 (lost to Claiborne, GP) I think this is correct.
  13. Now that everyone has played a district game, we can take a look at how everyone is doing. I know it's early, but it may be easier to keep up with if we keep it updated all season. CG 2-0 (beat Union, Claiborne) GP 1-0 (beat Rutledge) PF 1-0 (beat Union) CHS 1-1 (beat Rutledge, lost to CG) RHS 0-2 (lost to Claiborne, GP) UC 0-2 (lost to PF, CG)
  14. PF beat Union last night 71-61 in a hard fought game at PF. Score was tied at half 31-31, before PF went on a run in the third quarter to extend to a ten point lead. That proved to be the difference in the game. Brown led PF with 14, Woodrick 13, Gibbs 12, Cave 8, and 4 others with 6 a piece. Very balanced scoring once again for the Tigers. Good win in the district for PF.
  15. CG has the better team and talent. No one from GP should be able to stop Fultz, but GP is very capable of winning against anyone in the district as they proved with Rutledge. They are a hard working, well coached, blue collar team that has played very up and down this year. Should the good, close, entertaining game that we have come to expect in district 2-AA.
  16. Pigeon Forge boys stats were reported. This is why a lot of teams don't always report. The time is taken to send them in and they are not put in the paper or a lot of the time they are put incorrectly. After years of this people get tired of sending in stats. Also, you have teams like the PF girls who go 30-5 last year, at one point ranked 2 in the state, and still were not ranked in prepxtra. They had an unbeleivable year and had not one article written on them in the Knews Sentinel. They are now listed as a team to watch this week in the prepxtra poll and they are 1-6 (well now 2-6). They are obviously going on last years team and have NO CLUE how this years team is doing. Why should they take the time to report to the Knews Sentinel. It's a joke and they can make all the excuses they want, it's still a joke.
  17. PF beats DCA 88-47 in their most complete game of the season. PF had 5 players in double figures with Gibbs leading the way with 15. GP beats Rutledge 73-58.
  18. A couple of good district matchups tonight. Cumberland Gap at Claiborne and Rutledge at GP. Should be two good games. Let the battle for district 2-AA begin.
  19. Why only 3 classifications for basketball and baseball. There are more schools in the state that play basketball and baseball than football, so why should basketball and baseball have 3 classifications and football 4, it should probably be the other way around. I think the 3 major sports should all be seperated into 4 classifications
  20. PF lost to Webb by 14, 70-56 on Tues. night. Play DCA on Fri. and Union on Tues. to open to the district schedule. Woodrick had 17 and Gibbs had 12 to lead the Tigers against Webb.
  21. PF lost to Sevier Co. 55-51 last Thursday then beat Seymour on Friday 65-52. Tough rivalry games on back to back nights. PF played extremely hard in both games, but shooting was the problem. Missed numerous layups in both games and ended up shooting around 30% against Sevier and 40% against Seymour. Tough game tonight against Webb.
  22. Still need the corrections to the Pigeon Forge Schedule
  23. You have beaten two teams in your district by 5 and by 7, how can you say there is no competition. Unicoi is probably the best team in the region, and may win the region, but they will be challenged. By the way, I think Cloudland is a 1-4 sinlge A school, not worth bragging about if you are supposed to be the big dog.
