  1. Syracuse won...Final Score 14-13. Navy played a great game though and almost came back to tie it with 40 secs. to go. I think Navy played with more heart and just made a few careless mistakes...any thoughts?

There are three high school teams: Webb HS: Only for Webb HS kids i think West Knox: Anyone can play, but most of them are bearden Farragut HS: Only for Farragut kids There is also a West Knox Middle school team for anyone who wants to play. If you want to see what the game is like head down to the UT turf (next to the aquatic center) on Saturdays at 6:30 pm
  3. I don't think Cookville has a J.V. team because we played their varsity with our J.V. They are just getting started so they need everyone on Varsity.

    upcoming years

Farragut has all-state players Ryan Kizer (#3) and Doug Grapski (#31) returning next year. They also have Kyle Travis, their face-off middie returning. They have several more rising seniors and a few sophmores returning. On attack two freshman (rising sophmores), Blake Harper (#32) and Phil Kinney (#12) will be joining Kizer on attack. Expect big things from them. They also have their secret weapon, Bradley Crone. Watch out for him... he's a monster.

    Final Four

I agree. As much as I hate Hopkins I have to admit they played pretty good against UNC yesterday...if they keep up that pace they should take it all...

    Reffing

Im not gonna say anything about the TN refs, because I know they are under alot of pressure. It's harder than it looks, especially when coaches and parents are yelling at you. The NC refs, however, are actually very good. I played in NC for a good 3 years, and there is a group of about 5 refs who are just excellent. They know exactly what they are doing...it just takes experience. Our refs will get better in time.
  7. Farragut's starting goalie is graduating this year, and our backup goalie may not be returning. We may end up resorting to one of our midfielders who played goalie really well in the past
  8. yeah tlcbhs youre hyping up the 2006 CBHS team all over the boards...little early for that...your not the only school with players who have been together for a while...
  9. 2006? That's a whole season away...alot can change over the course of two years...a program can fall apart or become a powerhouse in the span of two years. I'm gonna play it safe and not make any predictions for the 2006 season haha. But if you insist I will say that the Farragut's 2006 freshmen will be quite talented. They are winning every game they play as of now, and I'm embarrassed to say they probly do more conditioning than we do...haha.
  10. An excellent lacrosse game, to say the least. Throughout the entire game the score stayed about two goals apart, sometimes even one. CBHS led most of the game by one or two goals, although Farragut retaliated for almost every goal scored on them. At one point in the 4th it was tied 8-8, until CBHS scored to make it 9-8. It was a heartbreaker for FHS, though. They missed a shot with 8 seconds to go and ended their season. Both teams played an excellent game, despite the fact that the officiating was not the best I've seen this year. Both teams played their hearts out. Good luck to CBHS in the semi-finals.

Yeah by the way I see lacrosse on Sports Center fairly often, and ESPN2 does live coverage of the playoffs....which amounts to more than
  12. I was referring to the first game when i said we had players at the SAT. Everyone suffered....so no one can use it as an excuse.
  13. I will give it to Webb though. They didn't complain about the field or anything haha. Both teams worked hard in the bad weather.
  14. One Farragut's offensive strategies seems to be resting when the ball is settled, and not take chances rushing shots, feeds, etc...that would explain why they didn't give up as many transition goals as F/C. Farragut also works well on transition, because their clear play is almost fool proof. Plus they have some real speed in their midfield. And from what I understand, Farragut had some players at the SAT too, so everyone suffered because if that.
  15. Looks like the weather wasn't a problem...for Farragut at least. The game was played, in a field that had a two inch deep pond in the center. It was close at half-time, with a score of 5-3 Farragut. However, Farragut came out in the 2nd half on fire, scoring one goal after another to clinch their position in the State Tournament. Senior Allen Lloyd topped of his regular season with seven goals. I'm not exactly sure of the final score, but it was at least a six or seven point difference.

    Scores

if you don't know what six-on-six means you aren't a lacrosse player buddy...nice try
  17. Farragut also runs a summer camp, at which we try to get middle school kids interested in lacrosse. From there they can play on the West Knox team (mostly made up of Farragut Middle School Kids). These kids feed into the high school program. However, many of our varsity players did not even play in middle school. Some of them have only been playing for one or two years. Some people just have natural talent. Having a feeder program is a definate adavantage though. It's always nice to have a class of incoming freshman who already know the game.

    Best in State

Ryan Kizer at Farragut is an excellent attackmen. He can pretty much score on demand, especially when the team really needs a goal. He had 4 goals one after another against USN on Saturday. As a senior, he will definitley one of the best in the state. He also provides excellent leadership and can pull the team together when they need it.

    farthest throw?

The world record is around 108, and it was made at the 2003 MLL Allstar game. There is no way a high schooler is shooting 115. Maybe the speed gun was broken. The cheaper ones are pretty inaccurate. I've seen the same player shoot anywhere from 12-132 on the same gun before....and the shot looked about the same, so they do mess up sometimes.
  20. I totally agree. Doug Grapski has the single best grounball skills i have ever seen. He can run through any short stick and most long sticks. Not only that he is fast as heck when he needs to be, and also hits pretty darn hard. He definitely has potential to be a college player, and my vote goes to him for best longstick mid in the state. He is definitely one of Farragut's strongest assets on defense.
  21. This will definitely be a good game. If Farragut comes out strong then MBA should have a pretty good challenge on their hands. Both teams have strong players in every position. I think this is a game that will be decided in the trenches. Groundballs and faceoffs will probly make or break this game for either team...
  22. Yeah I've seen the new turf too Redtwin. Last year at a tournament in NC it was raining, and we couldn't play on normal fields. But the head of the tournament found these 2 astro grass fields. It was great for the rain, because water drained off with no problem. Basically it's like tiny pellets made from old tires, and then there is like artificial grass, so basically it's like a normal field. The only problem is the little pellets get down in your cleats (you use cleats because it's like real grass) and it's like having rocks in your shoe. And it's a pain to fall on because it tears up your knees....but yeah if i could choose i would def. play on grass. Especially fields that are smooth like a golf course.
  23. I agree with the Penetrator. I don't believe any team was playing to their full potential. The season will be the best guage of how skilled the teams actually are. But yeah it would be nice to know who won: MBA or McCallie
