  1. Several of the Haywood players will be going....
  2. I think they also went in 2003 in A/AA but lost in the quarterfinals to Lenoir City.
  3. The Haywood vs Sheffield game was a great game. Both team missed a lot of opportunities in regulation. (Haywood missed a PK). It was tied 1-1 at the end. In the first 10 minute overtime, Haywood scored quick, went up 2-1. Then, with less than 2 minutes left in the 2nd ten minutes, Sheffield tied it up. Nobody could finish in the sudden death overtimes, so it went to PK's. Both of the first guys missed. Then, the 2nd and 3rd guys from each team, both make theirs. The next Haywood player missed, and the Sheffield player scored. The Sheffield keeper saved the next shot, so Sheffield wins 3-2 on PK's. Great game though. Congratulations to Sheffield they played hard and came back strong from behind in OT, they played with a lot of heart. Haywood did as well. They had a great season.
  4. Does anyone know the results of any of their district tournament games?
  5. I think that could be disputed as being one of the best district championship games. You have CAK vs Catholic, Notre Dame vs CCS, Dyersburg vs. Westview(who split this year 2-1 both games in the season), just to mention a few. None the less, there should be some great games this next week. I wouldn't overlook Friendship, they beat Portland the first time around.
  6. Columbia Academy comes away as Champions on points. They defeated Friendship Christian 2-0, Haywood 1-0, and tied Sheffield. The final points standings for the tournament were Columbia Academy 25, Sheffield 24, Haywood 10, Friendship Christian 1. (The point system was as follows: 6 points for a win, 3 for a tie, 2 points for a shutout, and 1 point for each goal(with a max of 4)) Congratulations to Columbia Academy
  7. Columbia Academy beat Friendship Christian 2-0

    Field Size

The length can be from 100 to 120 and the width can be from 55 to 80. That is a very broad range, but that is what the rules are...
  9. Their won't actually be a final to this. It is a round robin tournament. Columbia Academy and Friendship play at Friendship on Friday night. And Sheffield already beat Haywood 4-1. On Saturday, at Union, the schedule will be as follows: 11:00 CA vs. Haywood, 12:30 Sheffield vs. Friendship 2:00 Sheffield vs CA, 3:30 Friendship vs. Haywood Should be some good games....
  10. The brackets are totally different this year. There are 3 groups of 4 teams. With the winner of each group and the 2nd place team with the most points advancing to the finals. The groups are: 1. USJ, Henry, Haywood, and Scotts Hill, 2. Madison, Martin, JCS, and Milan, 3. Dyersburg, Sheffield, Liberty, and Trinity. There are 2 or 3 competitive teams in each group.
  11. They tied Houston, who beat Ridgeway 5-0, and they played Christian Brothers closer than anyone else this year, losing 2-1. Granted their record is not good, but to play Houston and the Brothers that close, you have to give them some credit. And yes, they did lose to Ridgeway 2-1.
  12. Houston is good every year. They lost to Bearden 2-1 in the quarterfinals last year. The year before,2004, they beat Hendersonville 3-0 in the quarterfinals, before they got beat in the semifinals by Farragut. They are at state every year.
  13. They are not all African, they have several hispanic players as well. They always have a lot of highly skilled players that are very creative with the ball. They have been to the semifinals of the state tournament 2 years in a row. No other team from West TN, that is currently in AA, has ever made it to the semifinals. That is probably the big reason. Last year they only lost to CAK by one goal. It was a very close game as well. An offside call that was very close, and another goal was called back when a player bumped the keeper.
  14. Haywood vs. Martin was also canceled after 20 minutes to the thunder and lightening. Haywood was winning 1-0 at that point.
  15. It looks like Grissom did okay against ECS... 7-0. Wow. Does anyone know how Father Ryan did against Grissom in the semifinals?
  16. Sheffield tied Milan and USJ in the jamboree, and lost to FRA. Haywood beat JCS, Northside, and St.George's in the jamboree. They did not play each other in the jamboree.
  17. MacMarcus, who has Ripley played this year and what were the results???
  18. What was the score in that game? How do you think McNairy will do against Madison next week?
  19. I don't think you realize how far off the strength of schedules can be on here. It does not factor in the fact that they beat a Top 10 team in the state from South Carolina or Alabama. http://www.unapproved website.com/FanPages/StateRank...vBasketball.mxp (and these rankings are done across the state regardless of classification) Hamilton also beat Mitchell twice and Bolivar. Who both have losses on their schedule due to playing the toughest teams they could find to play around the nation. I think you are not doing research very well if you think Hamilton had a soft schedule. And you also do not understand Memphis basketball. If you check out those rankings on unapproved website, notice where the team Raleigh-Egypt lost to is at. And check out their other out of state competition while you are at it. I'm sure after looking at all that, that they have the 105th toughest schedule in the state. Definitely.
  20. I agree with what you all are saying on Sheffield. They did look very unorganized, but talented. And I think as the season progresses, their coach will get them playing together as a team. Then, they will be tough to beat. Madison definitely had a strong showing as most people have acknowledged. They are very physical. I heard in the final game, that Henry County's coach complained to the refs about Madison playing dirty. And after a hard tackle by a Madison player, the Henry County player got up and puched the guy. After the incident settled down, the Henry County coach told the ref that he didn't feel that his players were safe and that he was going home. If someone knows more on that they could share, that is just what I heard second hand. One other game I was curious about, and that I never heard a result on, was the St.George's vs USJ game. I heard it was tied at half 0-0. Does anyone know how that turned out?
  21. They looked pretty good. They tied Kingsbury 1-1. Kingsbury beat Westview 1-0 and lost to Madison 1-0. They will continue to improve as the year goes along. I think they will compete in that district. They looked stronger than Northside. Although, Northside lost 1-0 to St. George's and Liberty lost 2-0 to them. The Brazilian kid they picked is going to help a lot. He scored twice in the first game. Evan Johnsey is really strong up front as well.
  22. I had opened up another thread to post reults, but I guess everyone is just going on this thread. A few other games I saw scores of were: Westview 0 Kingsbury 1 Westview 12 Southside 0 Liberty 5 Covington 1 Liberty 1 Kingsbury 1 Liberty 0 St.George's 2 Haywood 4 JCS 0 Haywood 3 Northside 0 Haywood 1 St.George's 0
  23. Were there any teams that surprised people today? There were a few very close matchups. USJ tied Sheffield and Dyersburg, not sure how they did in their last game with St.George's. Madison Academic beat FRA 2-0. I watched part of that game, and it looked like they were pretty even. The game I was probably most surprised about was Milan tied Sheffield 2-2. I think Sheffield will improve a lot as the year progresses. Does anyone know how they did the last game with FRA?
  24. According to eurosportscoreboard... Brentwood Academy is 4-1 on scrimmages. They beat Ravenwood 1-0, Goodpasture 6-1, Lipscomb 5-0, and Fairview 2-0. With the loss coming to Centennial as previously posted.
  25. I would have to agree that USJ and Dyersburg are the favorites. Martin just lost so much last year, I think they will still be solid, but I have to give the advantage to Dyersburg. Northside should be solid as well. Dyersburg did beat them 3 times last year, but 2 wins were only by one goal, and the last was by 2 goals. And they tied in their first meeting. I think they return several players, and have a new coach. The team that I think could surprise some people is Liberty. They have a very good coach, several returning players, and some new players that are solid. Whether or not they are on the level of the top 3 or 4 is yet to be seen. I'm interested to see how Liberty will do with Kingsbury in the jamboree. That could be decent indicator of how they will do.
