  1. I just heard on the radio that he is sitting in the Madison County jail right now. He was arrested in connection to an armed robbery at the LoneStar steakhouse. Hope that helps explain. And he has been suspended indefinitely.
  2. Definately different schools. Father Ryan is Father Ryan. FRA is Franklin Road Academy. Both are good teams. Father Ryan won state in Divison 2 last year, along with beating the top AAA teams and the only A/AA team they played. FRA was the top ranked A/AA team for most of last season, but lost in the state semifinals. Both are highly respected programs.
  3. St.George is a brand new team this year. They are a division 2 team from Memphis though. I've heard that they had a JV team before and this is their first year varsity. Someone else said though, that he thought they had mostly freshman and somphmores. I hope they are good for their own sake. They are in a region with CBHS, MUS, and ECS. They could be in for a long year if they don't have some talent. I guess we will see on Saturday.
  4. The only thing that is incorrect on here is Lexington. They dropped out at the last minute and have been replaced by Trinity. Other than that, it is the final up to date copy.
  5. The word is that the Brazilian guy is better at tennis than soccer. He is going to try to play both, but will probably put tennis above soccer, or so people have said. I think if he is scoring goals, Coach Leonardi will find a way to keep him on the soccer field.
  6. I would have to agree with the Madison posters on here. Madison beat Overton 3-1, USJ tied Overton 0-0, and Madison lost to USJ 2-0. This is when they played varsity. JV doesn't matter a whole lot, unless you want to talk about how they will be in a couple years. However, I definitely don't think this was a true test of the varsity teams because both teams were missing players. Madison was without their best forward, Kenny, which has already been said. And they were also without one of their best defenders Wilkes. USJ did pick up a few new exchange players. The bigger guy in the middle is from Brazil. He scored both goals on Madison. I have also heard they picked up a German keeper. But, USJ was missing their goalie for the day and they picked up one of Lambuth's goalies for the varsity scrimmages. (Madison didn't replace their missing players with college players.) Which, is a big part of why nobody scored on USJ. Not taking anything away from USJ though, their defense does look pretty solid. I'm interested to see how they do against Sheffield, Dyersburg, and ECS in the jamboree.
  7. I think Blake put in 36 posts in 2 days, but will probably not be seen a whole lot anymore. Advice on next year though, schedule some tougher teams to prepare. The 26-4 record didn't really make you look all that tough when teams looked at the schedule and saw the truth.
  8. Blake you don't seem to understand that you gain respect on the basketball court not by talking on these boards. McKenzie and Adamsville are pretty similar. Most people have a little more respect for Adamsville because they actually played a few good teams. They got beat by over 30 both times they played Middleton, and got beat pretty good by McNairy twice. Yes, you guys may be able to play defense against the teams you've been playing, and be able to knock down some threes without a lot of pressure on you. But, take a look at your schedule. Point us out what team you have beat, or even played for that matter that will make it to the 'Boro???? I can't find one. Halls has beaten a decent AA team, in Crockett County twice. Crockett was tied for first in their district this season in AA. Halls also beat Brighton a AAA team twice that finished 2nd in their district tournament. By a quick scan of your schedule, I think the only AA team you played was Milan and they were 2-25 this year. And they almost beat you the 2nd time around. (Not to mention one of their wins was against a team from your district). I am not trying to bash you Blake, but you gain respect by playing better teams. You will have a chance to do that here in Region. Lets see how you do before you talk too much and demand respect.
  9. What Cougars are you referring too???? JCM?
  10. It also depends on which rankings you look at. Rivals rankings and USA today are the top 2 and Hamilton is currently #10 on rivals. It looks like the rankings being listed here are the USA today rankings. Here is the link to rivals for you http://studentsports.Unapproved Website/content.asp?CID=516190 Therefore, HAMILTON is a top 10 team
  11. The "very good" Raceland,KY team is 13-13 on the season this year
  12. Actually, Madison and USJ do not play each other. Madison plays ECS, FRA then Henry County USJ plays Sheffield, Dyersburg, and ECS All of those games are 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00, respectively
  13. I think everyone will be convinced about Cosby, one way or the other, on Wednesday March 15, when Cosby(who should win Region 2) goes head to head with the winner of Region 7, which could be Lake County, Humboldt, or Union City. Should make for a good quarterfinal matchup. A chance for Cosby to prove themselves against one of the best from the west.
  14. The Region 7 winner(probably Haywood) is matched up with the Region 6 Winner in the quarterfinals. The Region 8 winner will be matched up with the Region 6 Runner-up(if they beat the Region 5 winner, which I think they will) http://www.tssaa.org/2005Champions/StateBB...sAA/Bracket.htm
  15. According to TSSAA, those teams are not all in the same district... same region but Munford is in a different district this year. Here is the link for you: http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/newclasses.cfm
  16. I'm not positive, but I think they lost 7 starters, including the tall striker. I've also heard that they have some really talented new players. For those of you who don't know much about Sheffield, they have the largest ESL program in the state. Their entire team is made up of players from West Africa and Central and South America. They always have new guys coming in who have a lot of skill. They will be good again this year.
  17. The schedule didn't post very good, it sort of threw off the columns. Anyways, does anyone have any thoughts on any of these games. I'm curious to see how Madison and Sheffield play against FRA. I think Madison will surprise some teams this year. They should be very solid.
  18. http://www.tssaa.org/2005Champions/StateBB...sAA/Bracket.htm There is the link to the bracket for the state tournament. And for some reason, in the first round of state it will have Bolivar, Liberty, Mitchell, and Haywood all playing each other, assuming they all bring their A game to the Region and substate games. Those 4 could have been the final 4. Why in the world does it have the West playing the West in the 1st round. They do not do that in any other classification. In Class A and in Class AAA, they do not have the Region 5 & 6 meeting Region 7 & 8 until the semifinals.
  19. Here is a copy of the West TN Jamboree schedule. Any one have any thoughts? What matchups look good? WEST TN HIGH SCHOOL MEN’S VARSITY SOCCER JAMBOREE March 4th, 2006; Jackson North Park Participating Teams 1. JCS 6. Haywood 11. ECS 16. Sheffield 2. St. George’s 7. Covington 12. Madison 17. Milan 3. 20. That would be a great idea, but some teams would not play other teams. Some of the north teams are not even playing the south teamswithin the district, not to even mention Sheffield. The only team from district 15 that is playing Sheffield during the regular season is Haywood. All of this confusion about the Region tournament was not realized until after most teams had completed their schedules. Not sure yet how this will all play out this year. Maybe next year, they will have Sheffield just be thrown into the district and have everybody play everybody, so we could have a legitimate 1-9 seeding. That would definitely be the easiest solution and would put an end to the confusion.
  21. I believe you are right Big G, they are not exactly sure how the Region tournament will work yet though. District 15 has 8 teams. District 16 has 1... Sheffield. Which makes for a 9 team bracket. Which is even more complicated because the district was divided into 2 halves, a north and a south. With Haywood, Crockett, Covington, and Ripley being the north. And Madison, McNairy, Chester, and Southside being the south. It was also agreed upon that 1 would play 4 and 2 vs 3(north vs. south) in district tournament. But, the big question mark is where to throw Sheffield into that mix. In the girls, they just had Sheffield play the lowest seed to get into the tournament, and then they played the 1 seed right away. Which was no big deal, because Sheffield girls were not very good. With guys it is a diferent story. It is a TSSAA rule though, that if the district only has one team, ie District 16, then it just becomes a region tournament. Do you have any thoughts or ideas on that Big G?
  22. I think that you have to put Haywood in with those teams. They beat Bolivar a week ago. Mitchell and Bolivar both lost to Hamilton by 1 over the weekend. I think Mitchell, Bolivar, Haywood, and Liberty could all 4 beat each other on any given night. I know nothing about McMinn though. Other than they have a great record. I don't think they are playing the same calibur of competition though as the other 4 mentioned.
  23. There doesn't seem to be much discussion on this game. It is definitely going to be a battle. The Jackson Sun had a big article in the paper today on the game: http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar.../512130311/1006 I like the respect that Willie showed to Haywood in the paper, saying, they are as good as any team they will play all year. Both games they played last year were battles til the end and I expect tonight to be similar. I hope everyone is healthy for both teams. I think they will both make some noise come March.
  24. Hackashaq, I'm sorry if I sounded like I was insulting your boys. I am in no way saying that you all don't have talent. I just don't think you guys are as good as dribblingsamuraiwarrior thinks. It is people like him that make it hard to pull for Lexington. He has been gone for awhile, and I was almost to the point where I could possibly pull for Lexington, and then you go and bash Bolivar. Who has earned the respect they have. They are number 1 until proven otherwise simply by winning consecutive titles. Not by getting on here and talking smack. I have never heard anyone from Bolivar say they are too good for the TN teams. They say they are the best because they have earned that right. I think they are number 1, but they can be beat. I have said on another thread that I think Liberty or Haywood could beat them in the next week and a half, I could be wrong. I have been before. Maybe Lexington will prove everyone wrong. If they do, congratulations. Now in a tournament like the Hoopfest, I was pulling for all Tennessee teams, even Lexington. And if Lexington shocks everyone and goes to the state championship game, against someone from east or middle TN, I would pull for them. But, it they played Liberty, Bolivar, Haywood, or Mitchell I would probably not be pulling for them. And the only reason is that those teams don't say that they are going to slaughter the other team or boast in a way that tears the other team down. Notice when Liberty beat Haywood, Liberty fans and Haywood fans both just said it was a good game, and it will be a good game next time. Congrats Liberty and move on. Liberty fans didn't tell catfish and others that doubted them. Told you so, told you so, you guys are all ignorant and stupid. Now show us respect. Which that is something the samurai will say if Lexington beats anyone of those teams. Instead of demanding respect. Play the game, earn it, and let OTHERS give it to you.
  25. This has to be one of the most unintelligent posts I have ever seen. Clearly made to try to start something on here. I am not a Bolivar fan, just a fan of good high school basketball. Just so you know, in the Hoopfest they try to match teams that will be close games. That is why they paired 2 teams, that both were watching the state tournaments last year, Lexington and Graves County. And then they paired teams that were state champions like Brentwood Academy and South Laurel, Bolivar and Arlington Country Day, Ridgeway and Glenbrook. And by the way Arlington Country Day is not just a state champion, but ranked in the top 10 nationally, last year and currently. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/basketball/super25.htm Now last year, I went to watch and they matched Bolivar with a local team, Marshall County. Bolivar would've beat them by 50 if they didn't slow it down and play the 4 corner offense, and I still think Bolivar won by over 30. Against the same Marshall County team that split last season with the feared Graves County team. I honestly thought before this tournament that Bolivar would win in a close one, I was wrong. I thought Lexington and Union City should handle the teams they play easily. Not sure how those went yet though. By the way, Lexington is not underrated or overrated, they are just the number 3 team in their district according to most people who unbiasedly, and knowledgeably, rank the teams around here.
