It's hard not to blame the princ. for most of this, 'tho I wonder if there is another side to the story that is legitimate. It will be hard to turn the programs around quickly, once things like this get started it takes some quality young folks working with some great coaches over a decent period of time to do so. And who, if they had a choice, would want to work with this princ. ( given what we know at this time ).

Well, I hope that if one of the region 7 or 8 teams gets to nashvile, whoever it is, there is some hometown support for them.

I think I am nervous about this Houston game ! I would sure like that #1 seed, but at least we are in.

I agree kwc, it's nice simply to be here. No easy games from now on. And i am nervous about the Houston game. We need to play mistake free football. We need our running game and passing gome to be right on. And we need our defense hitting hard, all night long. And to think that there are 4 very hard games after that that we all have to win just to get to Nashville !

Thx, corrected the typo. I think we win next week 21-14. I am not sure why our offense wasn't more productive this week. Maybe a combination of weather, jacked up Colliervile defense , off night ? I don't know. But imo one of the hallmarks of a very good football team is that different players, and/or groups step up when necessary. This week the offense jumped out there quickly, but then stopped producing. Fortunately then our defense stepped it up. Boy, from here on out they are all going to be hard.

Results: WSHS 14 - Collerville 7 ( We jumped out early, their defense played great the next 3 quarters. We had a very gutsy late 4th quarter, 4 down, goal line stand. Hats off to both teams ). WHS 40 - Germantown 0 ( Congrats Tigers. Winning that big at Germantown is impressive ). Houston 42 - Kirby 0 Woodale 34 - Hamilton 6

WSHS 24 - 14 ( Collierville wants this game very much, makes their season, our passing game will be slowed by the weather ). WHS 28- 10 ( Germantown looking for respect, playing at home. Weather also slows passing game a bit, and the Devils grind it out ). Houston 31- 7 Woodale 28-14

That is a great story ! I can almost feel the panic I would have felt as a 10th grader getting that kind of phone call. I'll also agree that guys like us, and our kids, are just flatt lucky ( how do you like that pun ! ) to have guys like him in our lives. I think around here, coach Hienz at ECS is another one, as is coach Wright at White Station. As far as recruiting, I have heard those stories all the way down here in Memphis from way back, and have also noticed that they have never been proved. Also, its not recruiting when families make sacrifices to send their kids to a particular school in order to participate in a sports program.

If you look at the same website, Ravenwood actually has 2 fewer kids, but they are 5A, Maryville is 4A. How does that happen?

Hope he does not have the same effect as the Sports Illustrated front page jinx! Oh, and the AP poll has the 3 of us, and Houston, all in the top 10.

Well, before that CBHS game, I would have picked ECS in a close one. I think Hienz will get them motivated and they will play a much better game. I say MUS 24, ECS 21.

Yes. Both the number of schools increased, as well as the number of students attending. By dramatic amounts. ECS , Briarcrest , and SBEC , for example, all popped up about when busing was being discussed, or actually started in Memphis in the early to mid seventies. Other private schools' enrollment increased, and the small towns of Germantown, Collierville and Bartlett increased dramatically in size. All due to busing ? Of course I don't know that. But was it a factor, imo absolutely.

Well , you have a better perspective than me. I respect WHS's talent very much but I have not seen both of you play, so I respect your analysis. And I agree with your point, it may be as simple as who makes the fewest mistakes. We ( WSHS ) have 2 very difficult games coming up that I am worried about as it is. Assuming that the three of us make it that far, then we should have some good games. Let's just hope none of us stumble before then. As to your point about respect, I can honestly say that neither I, nor any of the ( few ) West TN posters have ever displayed any disrespect to Millington. I wish you well, and I sincerely hope that if nothing else one of is playing for the ring !

My 2 cents ( my opinion is worth even less than that ); none of those teams , outside Collerville, is all that strong this year. This is not region 7's best year. Conversely, that is not your fault, and you guys have gone out and beat everyone very convincingly. You have not played a Whitehaven ( wow ) or a Houston, but you have beat the crud out of everone you should have. So seems like you guys have one of your best teams in a long time, and it will be interesting if you have to play us ( WSHS ) or Whitehaven ( goodluck ) or Houston. And I can honestly say that if you guys make it past any of those 3, then I will travel to where ever you play next and be rooting for you. I really want a team from 7 or 8 to win it all this year !

I'll be bold and speak for regions 7 and 8. We would be honored if one of our teams appears in the finals. Hope it happens. Good luck to all, and I hope that none of us have any serious injuries from this point on.

Coach Wright at White Station. Hs has taken the team from zero wins in '01, to 4 straight playoff appearences, including the semis last year. We are 8-0 this year ( I hope this doesn't jinx us ), and ranked #1 in the Shelby county area. And, imo, most importantly, he is a great leader of young men, teaching them positve life lessons they remember forever ( hehe, am I starting to lay it on a bit thick ? ).
