  1. How about the 5 Barnes brothers at Millington. They sure have provided alot of memories for Millington fans over the last 15 years...... Marvin and Melvin Class of 90 Both Rb's went on to run track at UofM. Marlon Rb Class of 93 Went on to play football at Colorado and then in NFL Marcus RB Class of 2001 Currently running track for University of Louisville Miguel RB Class of 2005 Football at UofM.
  2. Tim Thompson is bad news. Yes, He may win at Fayette Ware, but is it really worth it?.
  3. Having seen both teams play in person, I think that Bolton wins this one. They have too much offensive firepower for Houston to keep up. I think that both teams have very good defensive teams. But Houston is a little more ordinary when it comes to offense. I think that it will be a relatively close game with Bolton pulling away at the end. Bolton 31 Houston 21.
  4. Brighton is an average football team at best. Bolton basically named their score vs them a couple of weeks ago. The Bolton coach showed alot of class and called off the dogs early in the 2nd half.
  5. Millington has 2 Sr Lb's that have played really well this year. They are Zane Adams 6'3 215pd (Division 1 Baseball Pitching Prospect) and Chase West 6'1" 215pd.
  6. Dragon12, What are your thoughts on the Cordova football team?. Millington plays them this week and I am curious to hear what to expect. Prior to the game with Collierville, I was under the impression that they were having problems getting offensive production?. That wasn't the case against the Dragons. What are your thoughts?
  7. Brighton is not a very good football team. They are going to have a hard time stopping the Bolton offense. Hayslett should have a huge game for the Wildcats. I don't think the outcome of the game will ever be in question. Just the margin of victory..... My prediction (For what it's worth) Bolton 38 Brighton 0
  8. I couldn't say that you are wrong by picking Covington. They are a very good football team and It will take a big effort from the Trojans to get the victory. But I do think that you are underestimating Millington's football tradition. In fact there are two players now playing in the NFL that were on the same Millngton football team (Tyrone Calico-Tennessee Titans), and (Ahmad Galloway-Denver Broncos). Not only that but they have produced numerous Division prospects over the course of the last 15 years. Probably more than any County School with the possible execption of Germantown. They have also had periods of Team Success as well. in 1993 they even went 10-0 in the regular season before losing to Nashville Strattford in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
  9. Bolton is going to be able to name their score against Brighton. I would be surprised if Brighton even scores. Bolton has a solid defense and a better than average offense. I got a chance to see them up close and personal last week at Millington. They will destroy Brighton. On a side note, Millington has been working really hard this week in practice and hope to bounce back from the 20-7 loss to Bolton with a Home Victory over the Covington Chargers. It definately won't be an easy task though. Covington has owned this series over the last 5 years. Millington FB Aaron West is going to play though, after injuring himself in the Bolton game. He missed the 2nd half of that contest. Millington's offensive front has to do a much better job. The running game did not have a chance last week. I don't think Hershall Walker could have gained any yards. The Millington RB's were being gang tackled as quick as they got the ball. The Craft Brothers from Bolton dominated the line of scrimmage that night.
  10. Johnny Jones is an assistant football coach for his alma mater, Munford High.
  11. I am partial to the annual M&M Bowl in Munford this week. Millington Vs Munford. This is a huge rivalry and always alot of fun. Millington has lots of offensive firepower this year and look to win on the road in this series for the first time in a good while. I think that you have to look real hard to find a better RB combination in the state than Millington. Barnes, West, and Askew combined for over 3000 yards and 30 Td's last year and look to even improve on that this year.
  12. That's a interesting senario. But I think that a Germantown Team consisting of all the players from Houston and Cordova (Two Schools that have taken away students from germantown) would have given that team a run for its money.
  13. An update would be greatly appreciated
  14. Millington traveled to Houston for a friday evening scrimmage. Can I get a report from anyone out there?
  15. Most of the posts under this subject have been about the East and Middle Tennessee stadiums, Let me chime in with a little west tennessee flavor. 3 schools in Tipton County have really good atmospheres on Friday night Munford, Covington, and Brighton all three are great places to watch football on friday night. As far as shelby county goes..... Germantown would also get my vote as the best place to watch a game in shelby county. Great community support and immaculate field. The worst place to watch a game in Shelby County would have to be Memphis Central and Crump Stadium. Thank goodness they finally closed the place down this year. The field was horrible and the stands didn't even have bleachers in a lot of places.
  16. August 6th at Houston High School Millington vs Houston vs East
  17. Millington is going to be a very explosive offensive football team. I wouldn't hesitate to say they have the fastest backfield in the state if not the south. Miguel Barnes is a D-1 prospect at RB while FB Aaron West rused for over 1500 yards as a junior last year. The third man in the backfield is Gary Askew who has blazing speed and averaged over 10 yards a carry as junior.
  18. Miguel Barnes is a 5'10" 185pd RB that is a Division I prospect at Millington High.
  19. Miguel is the youngest of the 5 Barnes brothers. His two oldest brothers (Marvin and Melvin) went on to run Sprints for the University of Memphis track team, Marlon went on to play football at the University of Colorado (then professionally for the Oakland Radiers, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins, and Marcus currnently plays football and runs sprints for UTC.
