  1. Big win for Antioch. Very proud of Devin Arnold, staff , and players. Looking forward to Mount Juliet game Friday September 29th at Antioch, I had the privilege to coach Devin and my son coaches at Mount Juliet,
  2. Super proud of Coach Arnold and Antioch
  3. Sad to hear about Scott passing. A good friend and football coach.
  4. Shame you had to work, you missed a good game. You could have meet Coach Gentry from Lebanon and talked some about next weeks game. Also could have talked with some DCA coaches who coached Scooter Edwards whose son is number 34 for MJ and scored twice last night. Plenty of scoop for your weekly post.
  5. I will be at game. Are you ignoring me? Do you know me?
  6. I was looking forward to meeting you this past Friday night.
  7. I will be at game. I am a MJ fan also. I would like to meet you if possible?
  8. Coaches teach and demand discipline from the players. So many undisciplined selfish players on every team these days. We see players on TV at college and pro level that can't control their emotions. It is just the world we sadly are living in. Not just metro and public schools that have these players also. It is such a me society and kids see and learn this behavior from social media outlets and even in adults. Dysfunctional world.
  9. most times this is the answer but not always

Being an older guy I remember a principal that told all coaches that when your sport is over, it is over. Nothing with that sport till next season. Any coach not doing this will not be coaching here. So kids in his school could freely play 3 sports and in the summer be a kid. Many good players played in college and beyond.
  11. Always been about teams with best players will win most. Coaching can have impact but I have seen great players really make a coach look good. When talent is equal coaching will make a difference.

I am guessing you have been around as long as I have so give me your opinion of all the talented athletes in the 60's that played at a high level in college and even the pros without spring football, all the year conditioning , sport specialization, weight training , summer camps, 7 on 7, and these so called trainers , FR has plenty of players on there current football team as do many schools. What is missing with those not winning is players with better talent. I remember a Pearl team with players in low 20's , not Pearl Cohn, that beat an MBA Tommy Owen team with 90 players and beat them at MBA on homecoming. It always has been about players and always will be.

When I was at Goodlettsville HS Bellevue HS did the same thing. Amazing that many people do not even know the rule .
  15. I was at scrimmage last night and MJ did some good things. Looking forward to next Friday night since I have become a new fan of MJ football.
  16. I am now a MJ fan. Looking forward to next Friday night.
  17. MJ does not scrimmage Blackman. They scrimmage Hendersonville, a Clarksville school, and Beech.
  18. Old Man Sex I can relate to! It is not real football for sure.
  19. thank goodness wrestling now has a limit on weight loss and time to safely loose the weight.
  20. back in better days of high school sports any coach who told a kid he could not play another sport would not even happen. coaches wanted players in other sports and players were encouraged to play other sports and also wanted to. tssaa calendar and by laws would not even allow sports out of season to do anything anyway. in some schools the principal would dismiss any coach that tried to encourage a kid specialize. of course then most all principals were former coaches and we all know how much better schools were then. that is another subject though.
  21. A great example of a great wrestler and being a great football player is Scott Wells a former Brentwood Academy athlete. He not only was an undefeated wrestler but went on to be a great player at the University of Tennessee and then an 11 year pro career as an offensive center for the world champion Green Bay Packers. He was an all -pro selection also. His ability to play college and pro is his understanding of leverage in blocking. Wrestling no doubt allowed him to be a great football player.
  22. I just know who wanted it and then was denied. I stand corrected. one was told who to hire and the other who not to hire.
