You should not hate on the man's spelling. This is an informal setting and in such situations a formal writing style is not a necessity. You should know as I do, if you are indeed a real English Major, (I am a real English Major in a real University) that you do not start sentences with Us and that contractions are low class and even classier is having terrible grammar and calling someone out on spelling. Anyways, good effort by the jets tonight. Unfortunately we did not come out on top, but we have been very competetive in all three of our games and are starting to build something I think. Also, good game beave (CCHS QB#6) keep your boys' heads up and working hard to improve come district game time.

Terryl did not play against stone last season, he broke his right hand in three places during the first quarter of the coffee county game, also did not play against meigs or and I believe york. They had to start hill another freshman who had no field experience and was essentially practicing as third string for all but the last two games, that is my opinion on why they lost.

I was told they beat both teams pretty handily shutting out stone and we beat rockwood by atleast 3

Cumberland County over Cookeville. I know we have been way down lately but even our playoff teams have struggles against Coach Joslin's Boys

Cumberland County did import a new staff and it shows. They had two very competetive spring scrimages against south doyle and heritage which if I am not mistaken they beat Heritage and lost to south doyle 1-0. Not exactly toilet performances. Dont forget that though only1-9 last year they gave coffee and warren county tough games.

If you are referring to the punter from Crossville as Evan Sanders who transferred to Knox Catholic during the school closing crisis then he is signing with Air Force Today. He is a good kid and a hard worker and with their kicker graduating he will have a good chance of being on the field next season. Congrats and good luck Evan

I would have loved to see coach styles as the head coach also. I dont know what his plans are, but im sure we will need good assistants and he is as good as it gets.

My brother told me they brought him to the cafeteria today while the bball team was in there and introduced him to the bball players. He is an assistant from Farragut I believe

You reap what you sew. Alot of times when a player is not progressing in the weight room it is their own fault. I understand sometimes genetically there are limitations, but for most of the boys wearing the blue and gold 300/400/250 bench sq clean is for the front seven is not unreasonable and knock 50lbs off each for the skill positions. What most kids in high school dont understand is how to workhard on their own and follow a program. I beleive that the players need to understand how cycling a workout plan works. That will give them a better understanding of why they do what they do and what is going to happen. There are muscle strengthening and muscle building stages in every workout and I beleive if the the players understand that, they will have a better sense of direction and motivation in the weightroom. That being said, they need someone that will push them and make them go farther than they want. That all starts with the team leaders and having someone willing to be the guy that calls out the slackers and gets everyone to perform at a high level. That can be a coach or a player but either way the program is there for them to get stronger on, what the players do with it is another thing entirely.....

The weight room is pretty decent. It is not very large, my guess is it is somewhere around 120x30. It is only a few years old. It is equipped with 15-20 power racks like the american fitness models. There is a full set of dumbells and there are bumper weights for cleans and pulls also. There is also three or four leg press racks and 3 glut/ham tables. They also have powerbands and sprinting bungees as well as sleds. Also they are supposed to be done interviewing soon so they will have a decision to make and I for one am glad they are taking their time with this decision. You want the powers that be to make a good informed decision because the next few years will depend greatly on this. The new coach wont get to teach here until next year anyways so it is not a huge rush since the semister has already started. As for lifting, I know that Coach Shultz is coaching at stone next year, but is currently teaching at cchs and several of the boys have him for weightlifting and if they will listen to him and work hard they will make great strides. I know for one the year I had him I saw great improvement and was a 300/400/250 after starting the semister at 245/295/215.

You are absolutely correct on both accounts. Vance is a good kid, but he has missed practices regularly since he arrived in Cumberland County and I guess they had enough of it.

I remember playing in that game. I beleive we threw the ball one time and completed it. It was tied 0-0 at the half and then Casey Patterson ran the kickoff back for a td. The year before it was tied at 14 going into the fourth quarter and then nunley broke off a 50+ yarder on a dive for a td, and a slant for a td was the nail in the coffin. the year before I remember us blowing a 14-0 halftime lead and losing 21-14 costing us a shot at the playoffs...

Vs 3.Ooltewah Henry County 17-7 3 best players in the state on the field at one time would be entertaining, but unfortunatly for ooltewah defense is only 1/3 of the equation, special teams and tos cost them this one 1.Farragut vs 4.Whitehaven Farragut27-24 ot Dont know much about whitehaven but farragut is the best team in knox co. doesnt say much this year though. the midstate will come away with the 5a crown 2.Alcoa vs 3.Hillsboro 41-35 alcoa Hillsboro is always a tough game, but tends to end up on the losing end in big games

The falcons as of late are not on the same map as the 03 team talent wise. Not knocking the athletes, but they have not had an Edminston type back or a Horrocks/Divens lineman to strike the fear in the opponent. From what I've seen the Falcons are the second best coached team in the region behind Joslin at Cookeville. Thats not too shabby considering the job he has done in cookeville. What i think is hurting them is that the lines are not dominant when it comes to teams outside the region such as blackman and oakland. The size seems to be there but not the skill.

I agree with you somewhat JF21 the comissionsers do not get paid much, but they still do get paid. Here's a question: what happened to letting the voters choose the superintendant of schools? We used to be able to but now they are appointed by the board. And yes I am fully aware of how much money she makes. Does anyone know how the meeting went tonight at the courthouse?

Was told this game could be rescheduled so no gate would be lost. In the 2004 season CCHS had a game rescheduled a day earlier against Coffee County. I think that all that has to happen is both parties have to agree to it and find a day and it can be done.

To Adress several people at one time: DaCoach-A large part of the people in Fairfield support giving more money to schools. Many I have talked to have grandchildren still in schools. Also, if you have ever paid property taxes in cumberland county you would know how cheap they are percentage wise compared to other areas. Eric55-Great post. A lot of people on here are not fully in the know as to what the situation really is. Without ramifications I can say our kids are being used as hostages for more money,and that is unacceptable. I saw this coming years ago. I was against building the 2nd high school mainly for the reason that when there was 1 high school it was poorly funded. The booster clubs paid for a large part of what the individual sports needed. With two schools and the county refusing to pass a tax on anything, the money simply is not there. Brumfield, you would know you live here, you saw what happened when the wheel tax of $25 was proposed to fund schools, it was voted down 2-1. Cumberland county commisionser are a greedy bunch of politicians that do not care about what is best for the kids or the future they care about what will get them elected and keep our taxpayer dollars paying their salaries. This is terrible that this has finally happened, but the writing has been on the wall, the only question was when it would happen. I guess we found out. BTW, did anyone see that commissioner on the news last night? Wow, he was pretty dead set on not raising funds but cutting programs...

This is pitiful, never have I been more embarassed to be from Cumberland County.
