I compared rosters today. The 2022 Clay County is almost the exact same players as 2021 Clay County. I noticed a couple of new names, but there was only a few kids not on the 2022 roster that were on the 2021 roster. The new coach walked into a championship situation for one year at least.

I will be here to discuss. I will say it again. If McKenzie blows this one. They should fire the coach at the midfield trophy presentation. This Clay County team isn’t as good as the 2021 Pirate team and I believe McKenzie is a lot better than their 2021 team. Someone here said it best. SP had some guys named Kelly, Davis, and Hunter that Clay simply doesn’t have. Our D line was better, but Clay has nothing like Deandre Kelly either. This matchup is similar to the 2014 Union City vs Coalfield game in terms of talent on each side.

I agree with you. They had the best team and players last season. I’m glad we won, but the difference in SP and McKenzie kids last year was notable. It will be as much or more difference this year. Kelly took over the game for SP last season and took MVP honors. Clay doesn’t have a guy like SP had last season. McKenzie should have beaten SP soundly last year. They should easily win this gold ball. If they don’t then they should fire the head coach immediately for blowing two straight gold balls.

Good luck to Clay, but McKenzie SHOULD win by a decent margin. I will take McKenzie 42-14

We’re not speaking about doing it to intentionally run it up. Just speaking in general that this game should be out of hand in a hurry and not end up a close game. I’m just going on scores but after seeing what Clay did to Gordonsville I’d say they should win this game by 40 or more.

Last year was an upset for sure but the gap this year is even greater. McKenzie and MASE are better than the best 2A has to offer.

You should win by a lot more than 35-14. Dogs need to be able to win this game by 49 or more to have any shot in title game against a loaded team.

If it’s not a blowout then the state game won’t be worth attending.

Coalfield has two chances. Slim and none. This game will be over before halftime. Great job getting to the semifinals though.

True.. However last year’s McKenzie team would lose to this year’s team by a lot. I’ve got the west by 21 in Chattanooga.
