  1. I'm telling you, this very situation is why the "bus route" language is in the rules.
  2. here is a possible logical basis: fayetteville is a system-wide school. the geographical boundary is the city limits of fayetteville. lincoln county is a system wide school. the geographical boundary is the county lines of lincoln county. the athlete in question would have been immediately eligible at lincoln county high school based on this.
  3. for a non-9th grade student to be eligible immediately he would need to have a bona-fide change of address into the schools territory. otherwise he would be ineligible for 12 months. The argument here is whether or not a lincoln county address outside the city limits of fayetteville is in the territory of fayetteville high school. I believe that this very situation (overlapping zones in a open zone districts) is the reason the "bus route" language is in the by-laws. For this reason, i think the only legal leg that fayetteville has to stand on is that the assistant director doesn't have authority to overrule the director.
  4. at the beginning of each season there is a deadline in each sport for the school to submit their roster through the online eligibility portal. Inside that portal the school is declaring each athlete as eligible. This is done by answering a series of questions on a online form. Questions such as "When did the student enter 9th grade?", "Did the student earn enough credits in the previous school year?", Was the student enrolled in this school for the previous 12 months?" etc. when one question is answered it generates the next question based on the previous answer. at the end of the questions it delcares the student eligible or ineligible. the person filling out the form could change answers until the form says "eligible" if they wanted to . Schools are expected to be truthful on these forms. In the case of transfer students the form will make the person fill out a separate form that must be reviewed by a person at the tssaa. Again, this information is self-reported and the tssaa expects schools to be honest on the form. investigations and punishments later in the season happens when the tssaa is tipped off and investigates and finds that inaccurate info was given to them.
  5. it may not be as large of an organization as the tssaa, but if a school doesn't want to play by the TSSAA rules then they do have other options.
  6. no, I got it off of their twitter profile https://twitter.com/mtacsports

  8. i have heard that huntingdon's enrollment at the middle school is up and at the next classification cycle in 2021 they will be back up in 2A.
  9. So would this mean that Fayetteville City and Lincoln County are overlapping districts? Isn't Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville? Can students inside the city limits of fayetteville attend lincoln county high school? Do lincoln county buses run inside the city limits of fayetteville? Or are there separate zones for each school? I am not familiar with this area at all, but according to google maps the schools are less than 2 miles apart.
  10. i think this has got to be the key to the court action by fayetteville, That the assistant director doesn't have the authority to overrule what the director did on sept 6. I think this would be the only legal leg they have to stand on.
  11. i personally do not have a dog in this fight, but the thread caught my attention and i actually took the time to read all 21 pages. The thing that i think a lot of people are missing is that a student entering 9th grade can go to any school that will admit him and be immediately eligible. But if he enters a school in any grade other than 9th, he will be considered a transfer student and must follow all the rules that apply for that. a lot of posters are saying that all of these open zone schools have ineligible players based on the "Bus route" rule. The "bus route" rule only applies to transfers. So if a student entered the open zoned school as a 9th grader the rule doesn't apply. Also once a student has been at a school for 12 months, he is no longer considered a transfer student and the bus route rule would no longer apply, so basically he would be ineligible for 12 months then he could play.

  13. I will start off by saying I enjoyed the trip to Wayne County last night. They are a first class program and are what small town high school football should be like. Middleton is much improved over last year but still are nowhere near the level of WC. They were able to hang in there for a little while, the score was 24-22 with 4 minutes to go until the half, but then Wayne County pulled away. Middleton is a young team with only 6 seniors. QB is a soph who made some sophomore mistakes but I think he will turn out to be pretty good when it’s all said and done. Good luck to Wayne County the rest of the way.
  14. Yeah and what is really a shame is there is a chance that a 7-3 Peabody team will miss the playoffs while these teams in 2A will make it in: In region 3 the winner of Bledsoe Co. (3-6) vs Tellico Plains (2-7) will be in the playoffs. In region 8 the winner of MAHS (2-7) vs Manassas (2-6) will be in the playoffs. and in region, 1 Hampton (3-6) and South Greene (3-6) have both locked up playoff spots.
  15. The stats for Gage Davis of middleton are accurate, but the the team stats aren't. The backup qb also has 181 yards passing. Making their team total 713 yards.
  16. I appreciate you posting the region stats each week, but is there a reason you only post the rushing leaders and not passing and receiving leaders?
  17. The tssaa does not get a cut of regular season games, but the school must pay the officials. Football officials have recently gotten a pay raise and it costs the school about $600 per game for officials. I can see this increase in cost as reason why small schools may have had to raise the price of admission. If you are charging $6 a game, the first 100 tickets sold pay the officials.
  18. Middletons stats are up to date on m a x p r e p s
  19. Back when Middleton was in the region with Scotts hill, they were the only 1a team in a 2a region. They were not competitive. The non region games that they would schedule with smaller schools they would be competitive and sometimes win, hence the 1 to 3 win seasons. I truly believe the games between Middleton and the bottom half of region 6-1a will be competitive.
  20. I want to start this post off with the disclaimer that nothing I say here should be misconstrued to imply that i am predicting that Middleton can beat Wayne County. But I can tell you a little bit about this team. They do have a couple of good athletes. The QB rushed for around 200 yards and passed for over 100 last friday. They also have a couple of speedy receivers. Their game with alcorn central was much closer than the score. Neither team could stop the other's offense. Both teams were right at 400 yards of total offense. Middleton had some key turnovers on special teams that led to quick scores for alcorn and they just couldnt get enough stops on defense to close the gap. This middleton team is much better than the team from last year. Now I am not talking wayne county or Huntingdon good. but i do believe that they will be competitive with perry county and McEwen and possibly even Collinwood if they can avoid injuries to thier key guys
  21. I've got the itenirary from the meeting in front of me, i don't want to type out the whole thing but i will give you a summary 1. this one was a proposed change to the sports calendar that allowed coaches to work with students in their school on non-school teams during the off-season 2. this was a proposed change that would remove the requirement for a head coach in football, baseball, basketball, softball, and track to be school employees. 3. this was a proposal that would allow a team that had to forfeit post season or tournament games due to an ineligible player to be replaced by the team that they beat in the tournament. 4. this was a proposal to allow alumni games against current players to be held during the first week of practice and to count as scrimmages. 5. was to add more seats to the board of control and legislative council that would be filled by Directors of Schools. 6. this was a proposal to either combine enrollments or add a multiplier for classification to schools that co-op in sports 7. this was a proposal that if a public or charter school students co-ops with a private school for athletics then they must pay tuition and abide by all financial aid rules.
  22. I think this classification is actually better for middleton than being sent to memphis for a number of reasons: 1. in memphis they would have been in an 9 team region. This means that 4 of their home games every year would be against teams from memphis who bring no fans to the games. Gates would be awful. It also means that they couldn't schedule the teams from right across the mississippi line that usually bring in the biggest gates of the season. 2. 1a high school football in memphis is a disorganized mess. It the past two years middleton has had 5 scheduled games cancelled due to schools closing or not fielding a team after they had scheduled the games. Once they had to dress in a field because there was no one there to let them in a locker room when they arrived. at btw they had rocks thrown at their buses as they were leaving the game. Some of the coaches are almost impossible to get in contact with and many refuse to swap film. 3. The travel time really is not that much different. When you have to drive to downtown memphis in rush hour traffic on a bus it takes about an hour and 40 minutes from middleton. 15 more minutes to collinwood isn't that big of a deal. And it would only be 3 trips east per year as opposed to 4 trips into memphis. 4. I honestly think middleton can be competitive with a few of the teams in the bottom of region 6.
  23. When you look at them on a map you see that most of the schools form nice little clusters of 6 to 7 teams. The only real issue appears to be in Region 1 where you have the teams so spread out. I don't know what the TSSAA will do there. Will they leave a 4 team region or pull one of the Region 2 teams over there?
  24. Middle College, and a new charter school Freedom Prep was admitted to the TSSAA at the BOC meeting last summer. At that time it said they would be classified for football at the next classification period. whether or not they actually will field a team doesn't seem to matter in terms of placing them in a region (WEB Dubois and Woodstock did this at the last classification period.)
  25. This will NOT be regions 7 and 8. There are eight 1A teams in memphis according to these numbers. Memphis will be region 8. It may be regions 6 and 7
