  1. I talked to a couple of the coach's and the word on David isn't looking too good... but no matter what, the Big Red will come through all the adversity with suprising fight. I practiced with Austin for two years and he is a very smart kid, who has a great arm and a very good sense about him. A great 2-0 start for MBA will be just what they need to take down a powerful MUS team. As a graduate, I can't be too proud of the guys and the program and especially the school... awesome experience for them. Roll Red.
  2. Being a recent graduate of the MBA football tradition, you can expect a prepared and sturdy MBA defense and a loaded MBA offense. The film watching and concise practices that the boys are participating in this week should be enough to get past the shamrocks. Petrino was a quick scrambler with a strong arm, but the defense looked a little over aggressive and not very fundamental. Look for MBA to fill in the shamrock mistakes with big plays and hard hits. Good luck to both teams. Roll Red
  3. Haha.. too bad that long snapper is starting at the University of Virginia, and will most likely be in the NFL in the coming years... I'd say that's top ten material, since about 1% of high school football players wind up in the national football league. Weak argument.
  4. Much agreed Big Red Big Blue... I graduated from Ensworth in 2002, and there was already a sense of pressure to stay in the system. What is going on at Ensworth is really great, except for the fact that the feeding system from Ensworth middle to MBA has gone somewhat awry. That aside, the new Ensworth High School will supply some great opporitunities to learn from some great coaches (Bowers, Pack, Caudill, Chanaca, Batten) and thankfully will add another powerhouse into Divison II in the coming years. Maybe as early as 2008, BA, MBA, Ryan, Ensworth will all be in contingent for the State title, all of whom are in the midstate, and would supply a great amount of competition and desire to be the best. It's through this competition that will really crank out some hardworking, heart-filled kids and I think will look really really good for the middle tennessee.

cut it out... cut it out I was a sophmore during the 2003 season, sure we were upset about the call and the controversy, but all was revealed in the clinic bowl that year. Please never wish bad luck on a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds, that's just weak.
  6. Garrett is a very athletic back with a lot of ability to make things happen...again as a "back". His quarterbacking skills are still in question, only because he's started one game against a defense that no one in our region really knows a lot about. Garrett's lack of PT at the helm of a BA's offensive backfield can be overshadowed by Tyree's and Ryan's legs, and Billy Bob Kotty's hands. The only real issue I see that BA has to overcome is TC's equal athletic ability to that of Jon Jon's, plus the accuracy and finesse as a QB, that Garrett has yet to prove. If Berry, and the rest of the Eagle defensive front can get pressure on TC, CONTAIN him, and force him to make fastidious decisions, Townsend could have a field day out there. A lot of respect for both schools and their athletes, sort of a "Big Brother/Little Brother" contest that should exploit a lot of excitement and emotion. Good Luck to both squads.

  8. Predictions on how this scrimmage will play out? who are the players to watch on both teams?
  9. St Benedict better watch out because MBA has David Bilhartz and Rand Woodson mowing down those pins. MBA State Champs '05

maybe if i spelled McCallie correctly... that'd be cool too

    MBA At McCallie

MBA's offensive line is more experienced than Mcallie's, bottom line. In terms of defense, MBA is number 2 in the Super-7, and is gaining more confidence each week. Mcallie's pass offense is really impressive, gaining nearly 200 ypg, unfortunatly they have been throwing over poor teams (ryan, knox catholic). This game will come down to the trenches, and in terms of experience and athleticism, MBA has the advantage. MBA 13 Mcallie 7
  13. Riverdale obvisouly has the talent to be one of the best teams in the state.. but if they are out to prove they are one of the best teams in the nation, certainly they need to branch out and play the top teams from other states.. and win with hands-down results. Running up the score on not-so-hot state schools proves a team can win in Tennessee.. but it would be interesting to see how things would come out against top teams in Mississippi, Georgia, etc.
