  1. wearing "cowards of the county" t-shirts is immature. That being said, we're talking about high school aged kids. So...i don't see what the big deal is. Kids are going to be kids. It's not hurting anybody.
  2. i've got an idea let's talk trash about the punt, pass, n' kick contest!
  3. you're obviously new to the Internet.
  4. that's unfortunate. I don't like hearing about anyone getting injured. Hopefully he'll recover and be able to play against Alcoa.
  5. i'm surprised to see Alcoa getting 63% of the vote. I thought it would be lopsided the other direction. There must be a bunch of closet Alcoa fans on here.
  6. so how'd everything go?
  7. i don't understand how SO many people can get SO animated over a pre-season scrimmage. It's just like talking trash over a video game or something. Bad attitudes are for the birds IMO.
  8. i'm just glad for both teams that they actually scrimmed. So often you find teams who deliberately avoid one another. In this case, ORHS really had nothing to gain by scrimming Alcoa. ORHS is SUPPOSED to beat Alcoa so 1) if they win then people think "they're supposed to win" and 2) if they lose, people think "how did ORHS get beat by a 2A team?" I tip my hat to ORHS for taking on a scrim vs. Alcoa regarless of what the outcome was.
  9. i thought this was some kind of parody thread.
  10. i hate to be the one to break this to you, but that's how high school sports work. Football/basketball pay for the vollyball jerseys and cross country bus rides.
  11. he was probably referring to Maryville or McCallie or Fulton or Trigg Co., KY. I agree with that too. 2-2 vs. those teams ain't really bad (especially since none are in the region).
  12. I was waiting for this thread to get interesting.
  13. Maryville McCallie (maybe)
  14. i've never heard of Tank before today. I swear. I wasn't being critical of him.
  15. there's no question that Knox County fans would probably rather see the Fulton/AE game given its more global impact on the outcome of their seasons. I just think it'd be neat for Knox Co. fans to really get to experience what the Alcoa/Maryville rivalry is all about, especially the younger viewing audience, because they probably aren't as privy to the extreme "bragging" implications as older people may be. The Fulton/AE game is definitely a better pick in terms of target audience that week.
  16. unless someone has a successful background playing or coaching sports I really don't give many local sportscasters much credibility. That being said, I know nothing of what you're talking about in regards to "tank" or whoever that is. In other words, my opinion is most of the local sportscasters are just glorified fans.
  17. not to beat a dead horse, but it's a shame they don't broadcast the AHS vs. MHS game. I think a lot of people would really be interested in it. Then again, anybody who really has a vested interest would probably be AT the game and not home watching it. For the record, i realize neither of those schools are in Knox. Co and that's probably why they aren't broadcasting it.
  18. way to be new to the interweb.
  19. this would be a fun scrim to watch. I practically grew up in Oak Ridge, but i'm an Alcoa fan.
  20. way to be unregistered.
  21. i agree that Rockwood will be 3rd in the region. That doesn't mean Rockwood isn't going to be fantastic (for Rockwood) <---- no disrespect.
