I am not a n00b when it comes to internet message boards. My suggestion, just based on my web experience, is that if you offer some kind of 50M hosting to PLUS MEMBERS it would be worth your extra cash for bandwidth. That way people can host pictures, signatures, avatars -- anything they want to "personalize" themselves on the coacht website. I think coacht is a FANTASTIC website with lots of potential -- I thouroughly enjoy frequenting this website, and i'm merely offering a personal suggestion.

i've said that 3A is weak in other threads and people act like i'm an idiot. I'm glad someone agrees with me.

I was once a Volunteer, and I can personally tell you that playing a sport at UTK is like taking candy from a baby. If you can make the bare minimum academic requirements....they're GOING to let you into school. I understand where a lot of people are coming from when they think, "there's no way a local boy can make it at UTK," but just think about the running backs/linebackers/fullbacks drafted to the NFL in the past 8 or 10 years from UTK. Essentially EVERY season the UTK RB is an "outside heisman candidate," and most of them have made it (allbeit significant or insignificant) to the NFL....they've MADE their ultimate goal. I just don't understand how SO many people can be so negative about a TN recruit. You say so often, "TN doesn't recruit enough from in state!," yet when they do...you're INCREDIBLY judgemental about the person's ability. Let's just be proud and happy for HIM that he's MADE IT to what is presumably his lifelong ambition. My God.

my OPINION is that 1A and 3A are the weakest divisions in TN. Many people might be too shy to agree with me, and that doesn't bother me at all. Fulton and Alcoa is going to be an AWESOME game this season...but that has NOTHING to do with 3A being a cake-walk to the championship. Alcoa and Fulton are both excellent teams in their own right. It's literally a crap-shoot.

some guy from JeffCo is transfering to Alcoa is what I hear through the grapevine. This happens everywhere in the country, but it's going to make a lot of people mad since knoxville is somewhat of a "community" (this board doesn't help).

I don't understand what the debate is about. Has he not already verbally committed to UTK? What is the talk of going to MTSU and other schools? Do you know how easy it is to get into UTK? If you make like 19 or 20 on your ACT you can get in to school w/NO problem...then all you gotta do is play ball until you go pro.

"F" Google. Just run easy during your off season and REALLY hard during your on-season (but less miles) and you're going to beat 90% of everyone out there.

i'll just say it's unlikely that AE will be a state title contender. Since they have to beat Fulton in order to get to the title game, that makes their chances unlikely. I didn't mean any disrespect to AE.

I only say David Lipscomb because moving up to 3A (from 2A) makes it EASIER to win state championships. Otherwise, it's Fulton's championship to lose. AE is definitely not a a state title contender. White House is also a very very good team with the ability to win if they can be consistent. Other than that...there really isn't anyone with a legitimate chance of even making it to the title game in my opinion. 3A and 1A are still the worst classifications in TSSAA (i don't mean that in a derogatory fashion).

i'm not completely narrow minded, but i'm realistic enough to know that a bunch of guys with "heart and determination" can only do so much against a bunch of excellent athletes. I'm not suggesting Boyd is terrible, but they're certainly not even in the same category as Alcoa in terms of football. Academics...another issue. You win some, you lose some.

some people, especially during the late 70s and early 80s ran under the philosophical umbrella of "more is better." That's been proven to not necessarily be the case. For example, people back then would often times run 90+ miles per week in high school...and they would be in excellent shape. Then they would be so "beat up" that their college careers were hit-or-miss. My suggestion is while running in high school to use the summer and winter months to build on your current level of fitness. Then during the season you want to gain strength/speed in order to compete in races. I would not suggest doing ANY speed workouts during the summer...other than MAYBE a 5K race or two just for fun. If you're used to running a lot of miles (40+ per week) then you can extend your weekly "long run" (I do mine on Sunday) each week, or you can try running twice per day a couple times per week (or both). Just run slowly and take it easy...you're playing the heart rate game, remember that. If you wanted to run 15:00 for 3 miles in the fall, you should probably be approaching 60-70ish miles per week by the end of the summer. This is just my opinion. ALWAYS listen to your coach.

The QB from Alcoa is the #1 ranked QB in the state (www.Unapproved Website), and the other two players he mentioned are BOTH ranked in the top 5 (1 and 4 maybe?). It's not completely out of the question that Alcoa does have 3 fantastic prospects this season given what the SAME group of people accomplished last season. This is all based on Unapproved Website -- not my personal opinion, which only matters to ME.

if Boyd beats Alcoa I will give everyone on this forum $100 cash. I can't believe people put Boyd in the same breath as Alcoa.

the ol' "with us or against us" attitude is a terrible attitude to have in my opinion. That's a very unsportsmanlike, and narrow minded outlook. just my opinion.
