Can anyone give me a scouting report/what to expect from Columbia High this weekend. Not familiar with the school.

I'm all in for Owls, think we take Columbia then it gets tougher. Jeremiah Jackson, Desmond, Brody, Mikemike, Doss'. Special team lot of heart and lot of talent. They are young too.

BTW the unproven coach Higgins was a star WR on the late 90's FB team which was the best in 30 years at SD and I do believe he may have been a state champion wrestler under Henry. Maybe you rednecks should give him a chance before you go trying to hire Gruden to coach SD.

Wait til you see Desmond Pittman (Jr. Ooltewah) and Jeremiah Jackson (Freshman MLB). Jackson is the best I've seen as is Pittman. In last 20 years in Chattanooga.

Yes volleyball is strong in Chattanooga, however, I am curious as well when a female athlete from any Hamilton County school has signed a Major D1 scholarship. Refering to BCS type schools not Lee or UTC. I have been searching my memory banks and do not ever remember one. Can think of a few Major D1 basketball players and several D1 Softball players. Yes Tiara has turned into a very good player. She at times plays with alot of heart and is without a doubt the heartbeat of the team. They all deserve credit Indian these girls have been working almost all year round (except dead periods) to make the improvements they have made. As far as last D1 team Thorough97 my memory isn't what it used to be but it seems possibly Brainerd in the late 80's was the last Hamilton County team I believe there have only been 6 state champions from Hamilton County in Girls basketball in history. 2 were GPS D2 and I believe 2 were back in the 3 on 3 days. For some reason parents in Hamilton County believe that Softball or Volleyball are exclusive of basketball even though I would argue the coordination and teamwork would benefit players of either sport. However, apparently with Dig-2-Win and all the year round softball girls simply don't want to put in the effort required to be a good basketball player (generalization). Of the 3 sports basketball is much more difficult to master as you have to dribble pass and shoot as well as move the entire game, dribbling and shooting are not something that can be mastered 1.5hours a day during basketball season at practice. I assume many of these parents with the 5-6 to 5-9 girls that would make excellent basketball players have never seen a college volleyball game at the high major lvl. Several I have seen have girls ranging from 6-3 to 6-5 all across the court. Basketball however still has a place for smaller guards. Who knows?

Congratulations to Coach Laura Wood for doing the impossible Hixson finally broke the 74 game losing streak and beat East Ridge 42-41 if anyone has seen Hixson play with their talent level this is right up with parting the Red Sea. Great job of coaching them up.

Really a poor reflection on Warren County and the Administration the way the new coach was pressing an obviously inferior Hixson Team last night up 55-10 in the 4th quarter. I assume with all the losing he has in front of him he needed to stroke his ego against a coach who has taken boys to the sub-state. Only game Baird coached at Hixson last year when their coach was suspended for not controlling his temper Howard beat Hixson by 50pts. Great coach you guys have there. On a brighter note you have some very good little ballplayers, shame they are learning sportsmanship from someone like that. *** Sorry noticed this was boys basketball thread-- Your new boys coach seemed like a great coach and was very involved and professional should be great year for the boys. ***

well normaly the owls are first to have an iPhone and update scores when you go all night without an update you can go figure. Brady is Johnathan Crompton. UT and OHS are in the same grind thankfully they both have great coaching.

Was a great tourney, well run and class act. Temple's coach really should have took his team to Bradley to play and pressed them but Coach Cottrell ran a great tourney.

Unfortunatly most coaches are PE major or the rare few are really teachers. they are not Psychiatrists or otherwise they are coaches the biggest problem in high school sports is parents..

Well you think Lebron james's coach said he's just a freshman, sophmore, etc If you are a coach you don't have 4 years to make your mark like players do. You play the best team you can put on the floor. if you have 5 seniors coming back and 6 freshmen that beat them at camp etc. Seems the Seniors shoulda worked harder as freshmen tough luck. Play the best 5 you can put on the floor.

My little brother tore one playing baseball and the other playing FB. Used to be career ending now little scar if you do the rehab and have a good surgeon 12-16 weeks. ACL is really turning into the sprained ankle 20 years ago. As long as you have great surgeons and are religious on the rehab. Btw brother got a d1 scholarship after 2 acl's.
