  1. You know, normally I know when BCB is getting near because I can smell him. That maybe a problem at the Ag center! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> All kidding aside - the dirt never leaves the floor of the ag center. what they do is spray it down with water and it hardens to a really thick consistency and than cover it with several layers of carpet, etc.... The ag center is really roomy. The stands are elevated above the floor allowing for everyone to have a good view but also keeps fans off the floors which is always a good thing. Should be a good time!
  2. The Hoop's, Thomas's, and Croy's just returned from the NCAA's in St. Louis where we saw tons of Tennessee kids including Marchettis, Todd's, Simpson's, a ton from Chattanooga, and Memphis. The finals were awesome. I'll never forget the match between Caldwell and Metcalf. It was also neat seeing two of our own, Jordan Leen & Nick Marable, obtain All American status. For any of you who have never gone, please pony up and take your kids to the NCAA"s. You'll never regret it. Next year's event is a little farther away but it will make for an excellent road trip as long as Jim Wright isn't driving the van - just ask Carlos Calloway.

    Region 6

I hope and I say I HOPE that there is a more competitive battle between Indy, Brentwood(my team if noboby knew), Overton, & Ravenwood. Da Bruins will have a whole bunch of kids returning including Smith, Thomas, Hall, Hoop, Croy, Contini, Coffey, & Bridges. Good luck to everybody this weekend and I hope all stay healthy!
  5. A couple of years ago, I was about 150 lbs, had a 6 pack, lots of hair, and could take Smiley and Russell down at will. I had a similar injury. I was working my insurance business hard as usual and saw really nice young lady crossing the street in Chattanooga to get away from BCB who was trying to give her some beads. During the commotion, i slipped and stepped off of the curb and life has never been the same again. I now weigh over 200 lbs and look like Paul Proctor. Thats my story and I"m sticking too it................... /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  7. Congrats Cameron! I hope we're watching you in the NCAA's one day!
  8. I see with have a Bruin vs. Blaze matchup . It will be fun to wrestle the boys from Blackman. I hope my Bruins have a full line up!. See you guys in Clarksville!
  9. That would be great correct along with the previous post.
  10. The Varsity tournament will be in the main gym. The JV and freshmen are a combined tournament this year and will be in the Campbell center

  12. ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!. The finals of the G.P. West will be broadcast on ATWSPORTSCAST and also on WBHS-TV(Comcast Channel 9 in Williamson County). We tried to get legendary Copperhead wrestling coach Chuck Bean to come out and be the color analyst but as David Thoni reported at the Cash vs. the Ryan Nation invitational, Coach Bean is totally committed to his deer petting zoo and brand new cosmetology school. Therefore you're stuck with me. We'll have 3 cameras set up to catch the action on the championship mat and any run over on the consolation mats. Brentwood High's own TVPRO production team will be broadcasting the match. Hopefully we'll get so some rematches from Soddy like Boone/Thomas and Kennedy/Croy.
  13. When it comes to filming BCB, I must recant a story from last year's G.P. West. A young man from Blackman was wrestling in a match when his coach saw someone he did not recognize filming the match and blew a gasket. Those of us at the head table were called and being the great delegators that we are, we sicked our very large and capable Student Resource Officer, Otis Coffey on the case. After some outstanding criminal detective work, Officer Coffey discovered that the person filming the match was not BCB but a friend of the Blackman's wrestler's dad(filming so the dad could watch the match). After the egg was wiped off of faces, the match continuted. So watch out BCB, we'll be watching. And don't try to wear camo either, we'll just think your from Franklin and throw your arse out. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. MWR, After 8 years of having high school wrestlers and going to a whole bunch of tournaments, I've never been to a tournament that ropes off a section like that. I've helped work at the G.P. West for a bunch of years and we do nothing of the sort. Our finals matches are always on the center mat so that everyone in the gym has a good seat. Having said that, it's your tournament and you can do what you want. There's nothing wrong with creating a home court environment. And if a confident young wrestler walks into your snake pit, beats your stud with a couple of pretty takedowns, and spits in your eye, don't be surprised. These are teenagers. I thought it was a great tournament as always, extremely well run, with some great wrestling. I've been watching both Patrick Marchetti and Justin Cash since they we're middle schoolers and I hope I get to see them in Chattanooga do it again. Great Job Father Ryan! P.S. - A shout out to my boys Blake Thomas and Cameron Croy from Brentwood. They we're both dominant.
  15. IMHO you can almost set the seeding for the state tournaments based upon the results of these 3 tournaments in January. They're all great and are nearly back to back. Typically everybody who is somebody is there and those who aren't there wanna be there! A couple of questions: 1. What teams are going to be at Ryan as they start the triathlon off? 2. Any finals being televised this year? 3. What out of state teams are coming?
  16. RC, I would not want to be Tyler if he ever pulled a stunt like that around you! Your comments are right on.
  17. One of the things i have always admired about wrestling(especially the older the kids get) is the sportmanship exhibited. Kids shake hands, shake coaches hands, work out in rooms together 9 months out of the year and than go out the other 3 months and try to beat each others heads in. The wrestling world usually is a fraternity(a smidge of sorority) of individuals who beat to a little bit different drum. Sportmanship is something kids learn from coaches and their parents and in Tennessee I think we have a pretty good group for the most part. Having said all of that and hating to call out a team(and happy to say they were NOT from Tennessee) but feeling it is neccesary, I was appalled at the behavior of the majority of the wrestlers of Grissom High School(an Alabama school) at the Cordova Duals(Call of the Wild?) this weekend in Memphis. Refusing to shake hands, refusing or not shaking coaches hands, acting out when they did not feel a call went their way, having unsportsmanlike conduct calls, and my favorite: the mother screaming from the side of the mat at the referee: "your f*(*&(g my kid!" was unfortunately the norm rather than the exception. When I see this type of behaviour, I personally blame the coaches and the parents for allowing it to happen and not setting a proper example. First of all, Grissom has some fine wrestlers from an ability standpoint and they deserved 2nd place as they thumped us. I'm not whining about results as this is one of the better run and better officiated tournaments. There was a number of well placed stalling and stalemate calls on the championship mat that kept the action going. Second if a Grissom parent reads this and I have offended you, sorry - I just call them like I see them. Third, if you feel your Grissom wrestler is a good role model ( I think there were 3 out of 14 that actually came over to shake hands with our coaches), ask him to step up and call out his teammates. They'll be better people for it. Everyone have a Merry Christmas. P.S. - Congrats to Independence on their win. Right now, they're the beast of Region 6
  18. They were missing Dunning and Hoop in the middle and that might of helped but they were also giving up forfeits at 160, 215, & 285. Its hard to be dual team spotting everyone 18 pts. The Bruins have some rebuilding to do this year. Congrats to Indy for a great win!
  19. Brentwood 57 Franklin 21 103 Ben Smith(Bwood) - forfeit 112 Blake Thomas(Bwood) fall over C. Duke(FHS) 119 Josh Overmyer(Bwood) forfeit 125 Brad Compton(Franklin) decision over Harrison hall(Bwood) 10-3 130 Powell Newbern(Bwood) fall over G. 20. Smiley is well and will be in the line up probably after Christmas. My guess is he'll bounce between 152 and 160. Good luck Drew.
  21. The Bruins of Brentwood will be paying a visit tomorrow night to the Rebels. Any comments on match ups? etc....

    Ooltewah

Tim, please pass on to your crew a big congrats from the Brentwood folks for running such a great tournament. Can't remember the last time I got up Saturday morning in Brentwood, Drove to Ooltewah, watched a really good tournament, and drove home in time for dinner. There was some great wrestling also and a rare Russell Hoop sighting!
  23. Congratulations to Ben Woodall and the rest of the Franklin Rebels. Represent Region 6 and Williamson County well! Also, congrats to my Bruins on a great season. We'll be back!
