To be fair, three groups are needed in D-II as there were two years ago, although it means more travel. BGA, ECS and Webb should not have to play BA, MBA, and McCallie and the very small schools should not be playing BGA, ECS and Webb.

That won't be fun either. MBA is unbeaten and shutout Father Ryan, a team that beat Webb.

Webb wins big. They have had an amazingly successful season. Congrats to Coach Meske and the team. Are they heading for a first round game against the winner of the west? What a terrible prospect.

ECS deserves a lot of credit for winning last year given its size. Can it do it again?

What an accomplishment for a team with three returning senior starters. Congratulations to the Webb team and Coach Meske. It was a close, exciting game but the running of Bo Johnson and Steve Ball's clutch kick made the difference. Webb showed they were for real in the Catholic game and came on strong after that. Congrats to ECS for a very good season including a win over Christain Brothers.

What a game! Golden Tate and Blake Beeler took it over. JPII stopped Webb in the second half except for Campbell's run and Beeler's winning touchdown run.

Tom Ergen has really excelled taking over for Chad. Great win for Webb - shows the Catholic effort was no fluke. What happened to Harding Academy? They had 392 total yards, lost one fumble, had two interceptions, but didn't score. Congrats to BGA on their fist win.

Webb specializes in games with bad end-zone calls - like Catholic and probably Harding. Kicking made a difference as Austin East got no extra points on five touchdowns. Beautiful passes by Beeler in the first quarter and Troutman (fade) on fourth down in the fourth quarter. AE band put on a great show. Webb is 8-0 again Powell, West, Austin East, and Anderson County the last two years.

The lights went out on the Webb side for part of the third quarter during the Harding-Webb game. Maybe Harding has the lights on the visitor side on a timer.

If Karns beats Science Hill and Campbell County but loses to DB and Cumberland County, their record would be 3-7 but they would make the playoffs, I think.

Good News! Blake is expected to make a complete recovery. He spent Friday and Saturday night in the hospital. The doctor said his injuries could have easily resulted in paralysis. Don't know if he will play again.

JP2 better watch out. ECS is loaded again. In their first three games, Currie had 579 yards passing. They beat MUS on Friday but details are scarce.

That's terrible for Webb football, but at least there will trips to Chattanooga instead of Nashville or Memphis. Based on the their win over MUS yesterday, it looks like ECS can take on the big boys.

Then there would be enough teams to go back to three brackets in DII.

In an article on Ky going to six classes next year http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.d.../608220403/1031 the author says "... That proposal grew out of a 2005 movement by some public schools to create separate championship playoffs for public and private schools. The KHSAA members voted overwhelmingly for separation, but the Kentucky Board of Education emphatically rejected the idea and told the schools to work out their differences." I wish a white knight like the Board of Education would ride in here.

Yeah, Webb has no good choice and may not even be permitted to play in the new lower DIIA. Do the schools have the option to go D1 with the 1.8 multiplier? The Knoxville News-Sentinel has had no coverage of this which is par for the course. It isn't going to be a picnic for schools like ECS and JP2 to play the big boys.
